Lovely old guy. Great guitarist. Sad loss to us all
Rip to Mr. and Mrs. Pizzarelli
Bucky Pizzarelli 1926 2020 94 and Ruth Pizzarelli 1930 2020 89
RIP UNCLE BUCKY & AUNT RUTH ❤️
They lived a life of quiet brilliance.
Saw Bucky play live with my dad in concert and never forgot that warm tone he has...very special musician * magic touch
Excellent interviewer. Brilliant. These stories must be told and preserved.
Most humble elite musician of all time. What a wonderful man, and am still very sad at the loss. RIP Bucky, we'll never forget you.
Tremendous interview. I think that Monk Rowe is one of the best interviewers, because he's a musician and educator; so he asks pertinent, hip, "musical" questions. Monk also knows when to interject something at the right time. He is also very relaxed, and is a great listener. Bravo Monk! Bucky and Ruth were so down to earth and warm here. I am a drummer, and a couple of years after this interview, I actually had the pleasure of playing with Bucky live at a show on his arrangement of "Sing Sing Sing"--with him and his superb guitar partner Ed Laub. Bucky's tone and feel were absolutely fantastic. He had a lot of heart. He is loved by many.
Two wonderful, wonderful people.
King Curtis on sax? OMG!
Very good interview. Thank you.
RIP Mr Pizzarelli; a victim of Coronavirus 1st April 2020, aged 94.
Condolences to all the family.
A hugely talented humble man, a giant of the guitar, and a family man who with his wife raised two musically talented sons and two daughters. I was fortunate enough to see him live at Shepperton Jazz Club in the UK on a couple of occasions in 1999/2000.
He will be missed by all his family and fans but his music and memory will live on.
Thanks to the Fillius Jazz Archive for all your interviews with many jazz figures.
And Ruth passed away a week later. You can see their total devotion to each other in this video, and its no suprise Ruth followed him. God bless to both.
Bucky Pizzarelli. wherever he is, is a sweetheart. great interview.
Thanks, there are two more sessions with him on the channel.
So sorry to hear about Bucky Pizzarelli and Ellis Marsalis passing, both from this horrible covid disease.
RIP Bucky! Loved his duets with George Barnes! Loved everything he heart, Peace Gus from the UK
Rip to Mr. and Mrs. Pizzarelli
Guitar Lessons at this very House...Late seventies....
The Day I met him he grabbed my "Strat" & Proclaimed....
"WOW! You can really get around on this thing!"...
I hope Bucky is enjoying a good chocolate milk every day in heaven with Ruth. Bucky was one of the foremost afficionados of the drink. RIP Bucky and Ruth, who passed away a week after Bucky.
Wonderful interview!I love the painting behind them. Is that something that Ruth or Bucky painted?
We know that painting was a hobby of Bucky's and that room, their sunroom, was adorned with his work, however, we can't say for sure that Bucky did that one.
Thank you for your response. What an immensely talented family. I spoke briefly with John after one of his Blue Note gigs in Honolulu before the COVID lockdown and he was so proud of his father still playing so well at 90+.
The interviewer here is excellent!
Just like rap - East Coast - West Coast. lol
Tell me that Ruth didn't cook you dinner.
She surely did, an Italian feast. A very fulfilling day. Monk
