    If you had 24 hours in Singapore, would you fill your schedule up with stuff to see and eat, or would you just freestyle and wing it like I did? Let me know in the comments below!

    Hi Cory! Thanks for visiting Singapore.
    Yes, the Aljunied/Geylang area that your hotel is situated at is famous for its night life, it turns into a vibrant city with neon lights and there are many famous food stalls there. Hence, most of the food establishments are opened till the wee hours and closed in the morning.
    But I'm glad you get a glimpse of Singapore while you are here. 👍

    • @CoryMay81

      Thanks Shana Tai! Yes, I really wish I could have fully explored the Aljunied/Geylang area, as well as visit Little India and Chinatown. Next time... next time... hehehe

    Great vlog! I have mixed thoughts about Singapore mainly due to the weather and hotel I stayed in but agree about Marina Bay and surrounding area at night. Found the locals incredibly friendly and the food delicious!

      Ah, sorry to hear you had a less than desirable experience during your stay in Singapore.
      I'm definitely going to go back for at least 3 days. There just wasn't enough time to see and eat everything in 24 hours!

    Wow! There are so many places in sgp u need to go to... 3-4 day’s is definitely not enough... some more suggestions here that may take u a whole day each...
    Day 1 - Sgp zoological gardens (+river cruise inside... the manatees enclosure will mesmerise u for hours) + Night Safari - they’re Asia’s number 1 and world ‘s number 2 for a reason.
    Day 2 - Jurong bird park (if u buy ticket for all the above + this, it’s waaaay cheaper) + Jurong Point mall (some yummy food)
    Day 3 - Botanical Gardens (usually takes us 3hrs minimum & we take the longest in the Orchid Enclosure) + downtown Orchard Road (don’t forget to go down the alleyways for some yummy food) and if u have more time in the day, go further down towards Little India (as long as u don’t go on weekends cos it gets sooo crowded)
    Days 4 & 5 - Sentosa Island - I take at least 2 days to see the entire island. There’s the Universal Studios that’ll take u at least half a day... Then if it is still there, the huge aquarium of SEA Aquarium next door will take another 2hr at least... then dinner... the next day, venture into the historical and sporty and beachy parts of the island...
    Day 6 - Chinatown, Little India, Bugis Junction night markets (right opposite the swanky malls)... in fact, go deep down into the bugis junction train station and you’ll be surprised with all the good food they have there... maybe check out the many cultural museums that u missed out...
    Day 7 - Geylang Serai - I go there for the food at Haig Road, and then some cloth for curtains and bedding... if u know the measurements, they can do it for u too... but I think u won’t have any problems with that in Hanoi... and then, Arab Street, which your friends have brought u out to...but there is a different side of Arab Street that u didn’t see that u may want to check it out...
    Day 8 - if u r leaving sgp by now, I suggest u spend an entire day in the Changi Airport... there are several terminals and every one gives u different things... there are the usual little spots of orchid gardens in there, but u need to seek the outdoor gardens on the roof, the hawker centre in the multi storey car park, the swimming pool, the transit hotels, the gyms, the various art installations, the viewing galleries, the sky trains, the little grocery shops... we loved it...
    Can’t wait to see where u take us next when u visit Singapore next time... 🌸❤️

      Hi Marissa, yes, I was there for only 24 hours on a visa run.
      What a wonderful place! I can't wait to go back and spend at least 3 or 4 days there to really see everything, and try all the foods!!!

    Wow! Thanks for the comments guys cuz I so wanted to go overseas somewhere just anywhere on my bucket list and I am finding all kinds of people on RUclips saying how wonderful the people are and the view and the wonderful restaurants. Thanks, I have chosen Singapore! I watch Feed the Corey, Mark Weins, and Mikey Chien ALL the time and they all been to Singapore. Hope Singapore got durians cause I hear Maylasia has good Musang King. Viva la Feed The Cory!!!

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  7 лет назад +1

      I think Singapore is going to give you the widest variety of foods and multi-culturalism. There are some other good cities worth visiting, like Hong Kong or Taipei. I really like all 3 places very much. Singapore has walls of durians in the Geylang area where I stayed. I saw so many, you can even see one of the places in this video.
      I can't wait to try durian from Malaysia... I hear it's the best out of all durian!

      It's soooo nice there! It was a slightly similar, yet different, version of Hong Kong. Definitely a multi-cultural fusion and very modern and clean. I woudl consider living there if it weren't for the extremely high cost of living. >_

    great video and if you find it too expensive many from Malaysia and Indonesia go Camping at East Coast Park for the weekend which is fun and a great place to enjoy the beach and the weather.. however the Singapore authorities don't like people having fun sometimes and now seem to be cracking down on camping on the beaches which is such a shame as is such a great way to enjoy Singapore..

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  7 лет назад +1

      Interesting. Next time I go to Singapore and have some actual time to spend there, I'll look into that camping thing. I love camping! I hope I'm able to experience that before the authorities permanently ban camping.

    • @iawarenow658
      @iawarenow658 7 лет назад +1

      Camping would make a really good video too as it would show the real Singapore and cafes on the beaches which are so cool but often forgotten about.. also can make Barbecue on the beach cooking facilities and is great fun as often there are many people joining in so like an unofficial party on the beach.. these are great food places that often get missed..

      Hey Cory ;-) I met up with an old friend from middle school & bought some traditional Sarong Kebaya (Peranakan clothing for women, very rich history). Visited Little India & Botanical gardens & had some great KOREAN food in the mall at Bukit Batok. I suggest you check out the Istana & Fort Canning, Singapore Peranakan museum, Bukit Tima Natural Reserve, MacRitichie Resevoir, Suntech city, Newton Hawker center (*Great *Food*) + ORCHARD ION. Singapore is famous for its chili crab, shrimp noodles, and lots more to offer.

    Wow what a great video Cory. I really liked the way you showed Singapore, it felt like it was more real and streetwise. You showed more locations than the other videos and can't believe you did through 24 hours. Probably the part I liked was the water hole in marina bay shopping centre. The guides were pretty helpful. What camera did you use to shoot?

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  7 лет назад

      Thanks Kart! I have to thank my friends Iskandar and Suhaila, they showed me around their city and gave me the local perspective. ^^
      24 hours was definitely not enough... I didn't get to see Little India or Chinatown, and I really need to try some chili crab!

    The heat in singapore is too much for me. Never stop sweating but apart from that it’s ok as a stopover to more interesting places .

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  6 лет назад

      Yes! It was very interesting because there was a nice cool temperature and breeze in Singapore, but the nearly 100% humidity just makes you sticky and sweaty, even if it isn't hot. Such a weird feeling! But I loved Singapore so much. If I had a good job there, I would consider living there.

    Corey, how does a visa run work? How long does the visa last for once back in Vietnam?

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  7 лет назад +1

      +Chuong Wynn Visa run just means you have to leave the country and come vack to renew the visa. Yiu can leave for a few hours if you want. The important part is that you actually physically leave the country.
      For Vietnam there are several types of tourist and business visas. You can get 3 month, 6 month, or 1 year toursit visas, for single entry or multiple entry.
      I was on a single entry 3 month tourist visa when I moved here. Then I did this visa run and got a 6 month multiple entry visa. But I still have to leave every 3 months to keep it active.
      Visa runs are a great excuse to travel to a nearby country! My next visa run will probably be Thailand, Myanmar, or Malaysia. Not sure yet. Indonesia is on my radar as well. ^^

    Yikes. If you want a cheap but cheerful place to stay, try a "poshtel" like Adler Hotel in Chinatown. It's in the city center and you can walk everywhere from there (like to Marina Bay Sands, etc) versus, Aljuneid.

      It was the Oxley Blossom Hotel. There's apparently a few hotels with similar names, I guess all run by the same company.
      This was in the Geylang neighborhood, closest MRT station to the hotel was Aljunied or Kallang. Both walking distance.

    Geylang is the red light district of Singapore.

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  7 лет назад +1

      I learned about that the night my friends dropped me off at my hotel. They told me my street was a red light area.
      But it wasn't bad. I didn't see any hookers and the neighborhood is very clean.
      I've seen crazy red light districts in other cities. Geylang is so nice compared to those other places. lol

    What exactly is a visa run?

    • @benzaitenapollo4163
      @benzaitenapollo4163 7 лет назад +1

      www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=visa%
      visa run: Stepping back then back again in a country over a short period of time (ie same day) - in order to reset/extend the period of days a non-resident can stay in a country.

      J Wilson Gotcha! Thanks!

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  7 лет назад

      Thanks J Wilson, you helped define it perfectly. I was on a 3 month tourist visa, meaning I had to leave the country to renew the 3 month cycle. But this time I opted for a 6 month tourist visa, multiple-entry. I still have to leave every 3 months, but at least I don't have to buy a Visa On Arrival paper or go through that process until next year when I renew it again.

    Excellent price for Singapore, especially when you are out all day anyway, all you need is a clean place to sleep.

      Yes, exactly! A lot of people look down on the area I stayed in because it's a known "red light" district, but honestly, it was the most peaceful "red light" district I've ever seen. And the cleanest too! hehehe I didn't see a single prostitute on the streets, even at night time. It was very quiet. And there was no trash or anything. To me, it was a nice quiet area and the hotel room was definitely clean and cheap. ^^

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  6 лет назад +1

      Singapore and Tokyo are the two cleanest cities I've ever been in.
      And yeah, for $24 it had a clean room with clean bed. That's all I needed. Just a place to crash. hehe
      Thanks for commenting MIMO!

    I am from America and only speak English. If I visited Singapore would they be unfriendly towards me or charge me more for food and lodging? Cause Trump is president, I'm afraid to go anywhere now.Thanks! 💙

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  7 лет назад +2

      +Rei Lea No, Singapore is full of smart people who are kind and nice. Everyone speaks English and all signs are in English. Dont let Trump ruin one more thing in our lives.

    • @chalayan
      @chalayan 7 лет назад +2

      Singaporeans dont care where one is from or even who your president is. We welcome anyone to visit our country as long they dont vandalise or disrespecting our country. We speak 4 different languages, not just English. There are like 50k Americans working and living in Singapore :)

    • @lastbeatit
      @lastbeatit 7 лет назад

      Rei Lea don't go to Sim Lim Square. Half of he electronic shops there basically rip off not only foreigners but locals as well. We have a lot of shopping Malls here. Basically no bargaining there and you won't be charged extra just because you're a foreigner. The food court and coffeeshop have their pricing on their signboard. Singaporeans are generally a very reserved lot. We're grumpy most of the time. This can be seen if you take the MRT. :)

    • @zueinder89
      @zueinder89 6 лет назад

      Nah, on a whole, we are actually one of the largest allies of America and once they know you are a tourist, people generally will treat you really nice. Also, food and lodging prices are mandated to be clear and visible to customers. So no worries. oh, yea, and English is the operative language that binds us as a multi-racial society.
