So??? My hubby was a premie (premature baby born a few months early) and was always the shortest & smallest kid in school all the way till high school. Then he caught up with everyone. It taught him to work harder, smarter, swifter, faster, jump higher, be more nimble etc etc skills than people who took their size for granted. He has one good aim (baseball, basketball thrower), can score easy off the court basketballs, one of the fastest runner in his high school, great bike racer, most creative of minds (to avoid bullies there are those although lots of big kids do protect him that is never taken for granted = must stand up for yourself), etc etc... Believe it or not, being the shortest, the smallest can train some great skills of survival (fittest) in a kid. Its a balance... between the need to protect one’s baby and also strengthening that child’s spine as a training and learning curve... especially for boys.
One of my friends, who is already 12 or 13, he's short, but he still aspires to go into the main basketball team, the best basketball team in the district.
Parents should understand that their child hasnt gone through puberty. I was 138cm in P6, the shortest in class. I just went through puberty and now im 154cm and im sec 2. Also you will still grow for 2 years after puberty and my puberty started this mid year.
