Gordon Ramsay checks in to the luxury Lakeview Hotel in Lake Chelan, Washington. Owner Brent is at a loss, as he watches his dreams of being a success fail miserably.
The bedrooms are empty and the hotel’s restaurant and ice cream parlor are failing. Gordon is shocked to witnesses the most inappropriate and penny-pinching owner he has ever met. Can Gordon save this boutique hotel or is the owner beyond his help?

1. Keep the hotel clean
2. Do not serve frozen food keep it fresh
3. Keep the menu local, don’t make it too exotic
4. Hire employees with good credentials and treat them well
5. Delegate responsibilities appropriately
6. Make customer experience as seamless and comfortable as possible
7. Don’t be completely sold by your own vision of what’s perfect be dynamic and open to feedback ✌🏻

As of 2021, they've officially closed down. A small excerpt: "After filming, Brent reverted back to his old ways and distanced himself from the locals and the reputation is as bad as ever. They haven't followed all of Gordon's advice, they changed the menu as they say the new items on there weren't selling and renamed the restaurant. In 2019/2020, the rating of Google reviews declined dramatically with many complaints about Brents behaviour towards customers."

That spoke volumes about this mans charachter & compassion as a human being! I wish we had more people who cared about other people on this planet like Chef Grordon! When you look for a woman to marry from an underdeveloped country (which is probably how this couple met) there’s probably something wrong with you.

Brent's relationship with his children was extremely poor as they never talked to him or invited him to their wedding. He was a very selfish stubborn old man who was always delusional about himself and his business that he thought was good, when his hotel turned out to be appalling.
Also his children chose to keep themselves and the grandchildren as far away from him since he thinks of children and other kids as a disease. Unfortunately, his relationship with his children can never be repaired and he will never see them again.
it is highly propable he was abusive with them as well. the chances are pretty high if you piece all the information together (rediculing staff, firing his son, daughter not inviting him to her wedding, his wife mostly silent through out the episode)
@@orconvacation Add "having huge inability to say the truth", "full incapacity to explain why his daughter avoids him and do not want her children to meet him", "same incapacity to explain why his son faces alcoholism, and why he doesn't want to deal with that", "his son not willing to meet Ramsey to talk about his history with his father", "trying very hard to keep children away from him in his home town", "taking a week of holidays without anyone else when he goes to a country with very poor children safety to say the least" and this list gets more and more disturbing.

@@Bloodysugar yeah when he brought this up (going alone for the first week) i first thought, someone's having a "fun time" with the local women. But when i heard the things about his son and the daughter not inviting him or letting him even distant to the children, there was a alarm bell ringing in my head. The most disturbing part, if you want to call it the major red flag, was the following: He thought, after his ex-wife died, he could have a chance to step in again with the family. So his ex-wife had something to do with the distance. It could be the case that they just had a bad relationship, but with the other stuff going on, i think you're quite right with your conclusion.

Gordon isn’t only the best in hospitality management and services and the greatest chef but he’s also such a good counsellor it’s truly amazing

As an alcoholic with years sobriety under my belt, I appreciate GR not giving up on his brother. I also have learned about respecting people’s boundaries and I expect others to respect mine.
A lot of people say this all the time, and it even annoys me, but Gordon's actions in this episode genuinely shocked me.
The owners were completely delusional. Like Samy and Amy delusional. But the second Gordon realised there might actually be a deeper reason for the dad's attitude that he absolutely related with, he felt he couldn't abandon them.
Knowing that his own brother failed, he knows it isn't simple and can't just disappear easily. I already respected Gordon. But something about this episode made me respect him way more than any other episode ever has.
The man is a chad.

The hotel has been closed permanently at 2021 because Brent is an asshole towards the customers. Surprise the hotel managed to go for so long since the episode aired at 2016.

Wow, this owner have everything they needs to be successful! A very beautiful place, supportive locals, a local winery, a good chef, but still failing because of their attitude. If all of that still can't make them successful idk what will. Even it's so obvious the way he saying thank you and goodbye at the end to Gordon, like he didn't actually meant it or wanna change.
I think a lot of owners just doesn’t understand the consequences of the no kids thing. If I stayed the night in a place with a kid crying, I don’t blame the hotel. So it obviously won’t affect me coming back or not. But if someone can’t bring their kids at all, of course they’re gonna go elsewhere

Well this is the only thing i agree with in this episode. Most places ban dogs who are family but allow kids to ruin everybody experience. I would definitely book a kid free hotel or restaurant. There re a lot of child free people who still want to enjoy their meals and peace out there.
Peaceful ears maybe. Real peace is in the heart. And that type of peace comes with compassion and love.

Gordon is amazing ....how can one person be an expert at everything he does... I'm really amazed...I sometimes forget he is a chef when he is in another professional capacity.
What really gets me is two things:
1. How he treats his staff and really everyone around him is a pretty good indicator of how he treated his kids.
2. He talks about how he wasn't invited to his daughter's wedding with a tone that comes off as "what did I do to deserve that?", zero self-awareness.
I honestly hope he failed in this business. He can add that to his long list of L's in his life.
I just discovered Gordon, and have watched 7 episodes. Totally amazing.
The way he is able to get through to owners who are in total denial , delusional.
Gordon is a man that I deeply respect for his ability to bring the truth, which transforms lives.
The world is a much better place because of Gordon.
He has challenged and encouraged me to help the hopeless people that I know.❤❤❤❤❤

Up to this day, the owner keeps cleaning the aircon filters with his hands. I mean, I haven't checked but that hotel is 100% closed.

The guy had 2 grandkids he had never seen, and talking about that had destroyed him completely. I guess the sight of children may cause the same pain on him constantly. Then he made up some excuses not to have children inside his hotel. That connects too well for it not to be the case
Or he never really wanted kids or liked them. That's why he was clearly not a good father and his daughter don't want him around her kids.
Thank God for Gordon Ramsay kindness and patience even though he can seem ruff but it's for the better 🥀🥀

you know, i come from a similar family situation as Brent. my father was in a previous marriage before my mother, where he had two daughters. rough divorce where the contempt still carries on today- nearly 30 years later. my father wasn’t invited to his eldest daughters wedding, but they have been repairing their relationship and has been able to be apart of his newborn granddaughters life.
They made Gordon to clean up the ceiling the moment he came in through the door? disgusting owners.

Brent is an example of a toxic person and a parent. It's best to stay out of this kinds of person. I dont blam his children why they kept their distance with him.
It is also a possibility to speculate that his children went through serious emotional and/or physical abuse until leaving their father behind. I do not know what his wife might've been through. I hope my gut instincts are severely wrong, regarding this person, but if i am correct, there should be an investigation into this matter. He showed serious signs of emotional instability and should therefore be treated with extreme caution. Also there were other worrying factors, such as him not liking children in general. I, personally, do not like or despise them. They can be annoying, loud, etc, but also...i used to be kind of like them. I can't blame them simply because they're not similar to me.
But yea. It's a matter that's worth looking into.
