- After following a tragedy, this family run business have given up on their dream.
Gordon visits Island Park, Idaho to try and rescue the failing Angler’s Lodge. Despite building the stunning lodge with his own hands, owner Dave Ebey has lost his passion and it has almost cost him his business. Gordon discovers a family tragedy has devastated the Ebeys and caused them to shy away from the hotel and the community. Gordon is desperate to help this couple at their breaking point but is he too late?

These people are genuinely such good people. The father is a hard worker, he even built the entire lodge by himself, that's freaking incredible.
50 more minutes and this episode can turn into a full length movie. It has everything, Drama, Tention, Love, Sorrow, Happyness, regret, hate, disappointment, failure and success.
It's so hard for parents to lose a child. I cried just looking at this. I wish them all the best

My heart literally broke💔 when Gordon started asking him if he ever took time out to mourn the loss of his son and the father said No😟 and he talked to no one. Men should really find time to address their emotions, so sad for him cos they really seem like a lovely family 😢😢
I love how Dede is so kind and generous even after everything she and Dave went through it's so heart-warming to see them light up and bring back the lively spirit of the lodge from the memories. I really hope they're still doing well after Gordon's visit.

A rare case in Hotel Hell where the actual chef deserved a scolding.
Love the way the wife acknowledges the years of work her husband put in to the business. Building that beauty from the ground up, absolutely impressive. Man has a good woman by his side. So sad about their son, its good to know that even though they coped in different ways, they did not blame each other for anything. Tragedy happens unfortunately. God bless their family.

This is one of the episodes where the owners are wonderful people who fell on hard times and we truly hope Gordon helps them recover and flourish again

Losing a child is devastating. I would've struggled the same way. I am so happy for them to have gotten back on track after so many years astray. I hope their new life helps healing that wound in their hearts.

I can understand the pain when they lost their 10 years old son. It was the same in our family, we lost a 7-year-old, brother to cancer in 2013, Since then I remember the horror we had to go through, my mother could not overcome the pain and relinquished herself to alcohol and died in 2015 (November). My father would carry his photo on his chest and walk crying day and night until he died in 2016 (January). I remember ever since my brother died until my parents, we never had a good meal together. The kitchen was just like any other room in the home. But now, Since it's been many years, we live in their memories.❤

they are such a beautiful family, you can just tell they love each other and want to make things work. especially loved dede, what a beautiful and peaceful human beaing she seems to be. this was a great episode. and i'm so happy that after doing some research, i found out that they are still running the hotel and are doing great.

I know what you are saying, I lost my 23 year old son in March 2010, I went to bed for 7 years. I couldn't. Only that something was wrong with my health, I went to a Doctor, and found I had Hashimoto's. From then, I got up. So I say, getting sick kind of saved me, I have a daughter who needs me. Many hugs to you. I know.

aww i liked Zach. he was totally honest he doesn't want to be there, and he wasn't skilled, and he tried to defend his parents even if he was misguided and didn't understand Gordon lol

Gina looks like a lady from the village selling charms & herbs ! But hands down with all the negativities around still it's a beautiful lodge with breathtaking views. I would love to stay there some day.
Recent reviews about the lodge are mixed with alot complaints about it being too expensive,alot of stuff needing maintenance and the closest people get to customer service is via texting its a great place for a stop over or fishing trips worst place for long stay,honeymoon or holiday
It's always the money and pompous property owners charging too much for what they offer. I've had some of the loveliest times in cheap student motels and British lodges. Basically paying for a bunk to sleep in with the friends nearby in another bunk. With the high rate of visitors, the rooms were kept near pristine between visits. The other rooms of the facility were free to use and breakfast was included. This is for minimal cost. Sure they have potential, but the prices I usually see in Hotel Hell are ghastly when I've gotten better for 30€ a night or less.
I've just checked the booking and they've got 8.2 which is quite good. Also the prices don't seem to be too expensive. 410$ for 2 nights in a room for 4. 100$ per person for 2 nights does not seem too much.

Owners checked out, son-manager has no idea what he’s supposed to do, the kitchen works as separate people, and the servers are there for their paycheck… possibly the absolutely worst crew on any hotel or kitchen nightmare

I swear, I go by the ethos of Gordon Ramsay to be as honest and blunt as possible. People don't like it but at least they know where they stand with things. Wish more people were like him.

These pictures show the son they lost when he was 10.
It must be understood how hard it is to keep on running a business without a sense of personal input when your heart is broken.
This is one of few episodes that the owners really deserve help
