- These party mad hotel staff get a violent wake up call.
Gordon Ramsay checks in to Murphy’s Historic Hotel near Sacramento in northern California, where party-boy owners Brian, Kevin and Joel are too busy drinking, partying and lap-dancing in the rowdy bar, to look after their historic hotel.
The national landmark, which has been host to an array of famous names including Mark Twain, President Ulysses S. Grant and J.P. Morgan, has no hotel manager, so guests have a miserable time in the noisy, neglected, afterthought of a hotel.
Gordon quickly realizes he’s going to need something approaching a miracle if he’s going to have a chance of saving this chaotic place.

Every time the restaurant/hotel is full in these episodes, I just feel that the producers made a casting call for Karens and Kevins to fill the place up.
Well the only other reason other than the management and food being horrible it'll be the location and you can't make a show about that

Well, It's a show so obviously they want it to look real. There is lots of things that would catch your eyes and makes you think that it must have been staged, Scripted. But overall the show is entertaining so I don't think much about that.
No,people hear about Gordon Ramsey in town and they come out,he says it in every episode and not every one has Gordon standards for cleanliness so some people might not even mind

I like how everyone, both in hotel hell and kitchen nightmare, say their food will make Gordon smile or "its the best" and Gordon completely negates them lol
In their defense, the average person is not so picky-or know what's good. I know I don't expect much from food where I am. It is all shit saved the ONE or two restaurants that then become so popular, that they start loosing quality. It's the cycle of restaurants. "Small and new owners: great food. Becomes popular for great food. Food becomes shit; restaurant looses customers..."
The good restaurants tend to be in small touristic places. You see them exploding with activity, have a clear view of what they are cooking. Good prices, big portions, the place to buy at!

Well, maybe owners would be more fit to that, but the concept of a hotel is already there. You can’t just leave out or destroy the hotel, it’s better to just benefit from the place and space there already is, Gordon actually did that.
i checked google, the hotel is still open but google told me they had some mixed feelings about gordons changes and "undid"/changed some of them. checking their homepage, you can see the lobby is not blue colored anymore for example.
they kept their word tho, the bar closes at 10pm (tho they said its closed at midnight, so they close it even earlier now)
also reviews are apparently mixed, but the fact the hotel is still open means they do a good job and are making profit.
