No, if you properly grease them all at the specified time then there shouldnt be a problem. But if there is a problem, then I recommend replace the old one. But if I were you, then I would replace the opposite side as well.
Hi, I'm a 'car mechanic' in the UK, when I rebuild braking systems I tend to put a tad of grease on pivot points etc on the brake mechanism, is that something thats not necessary on HGV brakes?
Thanks for watching!! I just usually grease the fittings and that takes care of any moving parts. I don’t lube the backing plate points like I would a car.
@@SemiWorkin can you do a video on the tool so I can make it or just give an idea of how to make it any help will be great thanks an amazing videos keep them coming...
Great video. Is that a Hendrickson lift axle ? And if it is, do Watson Chalin lift axles have that same 2 piece set up on the spindle that require the king pins to be pressed out in the same manner ?
Never ever have I ever done a king pin in a large vehicle, but your set up and little tricks are worth watching.
Can we get some dimensions on that homemade king pin press? Thanks!!!!
Certainly not saying it wasn't hard work, but the right tools makes all the difference. Thumbs Up!
Thanks for watching and commenting!! Got to work smart not hard.
Cool refresher course I really do appreciate it's been a long time since I've done kingpins like that
These guys make you understand the get a bigger hammer concept 😀

Love the idea of the vise grips with pry bar to get the brake anchor springs off and on. I’ll have to try that next time. I always used a hose pick
Thanks for watching!! I try to keep it simple.
That is one heck of a king pin tool ..i love it 😀
Thanks for watching!!

Hey i got a 2013 KW do all kingpins have to be pressed out? Talking about the lift axle also..

Thanks for watching!! Not all lift axle king pins are pressed in the axle it's usually just the ones with a two piece spindle.
@@SemiWorkin Thanks for the reply mine is a Watson chalin 20k
I know on balljoints the socket wears out and allows play, what wears out on kingpins to move around like that?
The kingpin appears to be cambered inward at the top. Is that what allows the axle to self steer when moving forward ?

How you get the tie rod end in ? Usually those steering shocks are a BITCH to compress ? Or am I tripping ? Let me know ? I do brakes like you 👍🏽
Did you make the king pin tool???
Thanks for watching!! I didn’t personally make it but it is homemade.
@@SemiWorkin can you do a video on the tool so I can make it or just give an idea of how to make it any help will be great thanks an amazing videos keep them coming...
That king pin tool is great, is it home made?
Thanks for watching!! Yes it was made in house.
Great video. Is that a Hendrickson lift axle ? And if it is, do Watson Chalin lift axles have that same 2 piece set up on the spindle that require the king pins to be pressed out in the same manner ?
Thanks for watching and commenting. Pretty much any two piece spindle set up the king pin has to be pressed in this manner.
No, Watson Chalin are similar to the steer axle and are tapered up, and come out the bottom.
How would you know if you needed a new kingpin?
Thanks for watching!!

If it looks like that
If you feel the steering get harder, heavy vibration from steers or just regular play
It seems strange to me that they do not use lubricants to disassemble the parts that are dry
Thanks for watching!!
Think I'd be using a lot of penatrating spray.
No new bushings? Just new pin into old bushing set?
Thanks for watching!! New bushings are in the new plugs that have to be pressed in to the two piece spindle.
@@SemiWorkin for sure! Great video
