Thanks for the video! you helped save me alot of time with your method of dropping the dash in one piece. The only draw back is how dark this video is. As a result it took me a while to find the 10 main bolts that hold the dash up. Either way, I really appreciate you taking the time to help people like me out there.
perfect video i watched it before i started being mechanically inclined i was able to do it in 2 1/2 hrs start to finish followed your steps found everything no problem i give you two thumbs up
Most helpful video for taking out the neon heater core/ac evaporator. Some of the videos have the whole dash being taken apart. Going to try it in the morning
thanks dude it really worked out took me 4 hours to do it on a 2004 Dodge Neon perfect didn't I have to pull nothing apart the whole dash came out all in one slipped it under perfect thank you again
Mine went well too. I'd like to investigate if there is a wire harness connection in the door hinge column to disconnect that passenger side wire harness. I did my job all by myself. Lifting the passenger side and starting one bolt, then swinging driver side up and making the electrical connection and you know you could do the steering yoke after you put the dash into place. I was very happy to find the main electrical block went together very nicely. In fact I was very pleased how it all went together.
It really is not difficult if you are patient and you have a helper to lift the dash. Just recently did an 01 jeep cherokee that required completely removing everything from the front seats up. Neon is a piece of cake!
Can someone PLEASE help me? I can't seem to get the dash all the way apart. Something around the passenger side airbag seems to be keeping it from coming off. I've taken off several screws and still nothing...
Richard Nichols There is a nut on the back side of the airbag that holds it in. It is hidden, 13mm deep socket and a flex head ratchet works best. you have to go up behind the glove box and feel around with your hand. It's in the center on the other side of the crossbar. It's a feel thing because you can't really see it. Once you get that out your good to go.
Hey so did you drain the refrigerant and coolant to do this?... so you only need to take 6 bolts out and you can leave most of the dash assembled ? So no special tools are needed since you didnt have to take the steering wheel of?
This should just about be the exact same for a 97 right? I'm trying to get to my heater core because after I put in antifreeze the stopleak the guy who had it before me put in came unclogged so I found out it has a leak pretty fast. Good thing I only paid 575 for the car and this parts only $60; just gotta do a lot of work myself.
question my father in law has 2005 dodge neon and replaced the heater core and evaporator in the black box and put in a new compressor and put Freon with gauges but are only problem is that nothing but hot air comes out the vents and its on cold any ideas???question my father in law has 2005 dodge neon and replaced the heater core and evaporator in the black box and put in a new compressor and put Freon with gauges but are only problem is that nothing but hot air comes out the vents and its on cold any ideas???
Separating the dash is the end screws holding dash plastic and the 8 or 10 13mm bolts and the steering banjo bolt. Need to buy a magnet and the torqs socket to separate the canister from evaporator. And yeah it will come out. The other comment on 45 must be 45 minutes on the dash. I'm sure the rest won't go as easy. I will need help on assembly and have to take care with the main power hub connector
I got rid of 2 cars because of the heater core. Mechanics charge a lot to do this. I worry that pulling the dash may cause failures down the road. It took him 6 hours, it might take me 3 weeks.

Nice to no that I have 2004 I have to do that to . thanks.
Thanks AJ1 for posting this! Saved me a ton of time....replaced evaporator and heater core at the same time. Cold AC is worth the trouble!

Did you remove the air bags to do this and would this work on a dodge neon 2004
There are some hidden screws. Two in the defrost vent. Two in the vents above the radio. Two below radio. Four under the lid of the center console
Yes, you can eliminate this risk by unhooking the battery and turning on the headlights for a few seconds. this will discharge any residual current.
Why'd you have to replace the heater core? Were you getting a melted plastic smell when you turned the heat on?
I was repairing the A/C and did the core while I was in there.

is there a chance the airbag would deploy while taking the dash loose??
You have to lift the dash. Takes two guys and I just propped up the driver side s

So you pulled these screws, the one for the steering, and the dash rolled forward?
@AJ1Overdrive
The evap canister is separate from the cold air exchanger???
Evap can is the metal container line hook too inside the engine compartment. The condenser is inside the cab inside the vent box
@@aj1overdrive
Are they separated and a slip joint tied together at the aluminum block on engine side firewall?
