I took it out from the inside and install it and just under 3 hours I didn't have to take the whole dash out I just loosened the mount bolts on one side of the dash assembly and took the opposite side mount bolts out completely that allowed it to "hinge" rearward enough to remove the core and install the new one. Probably 2 hours and 40 minutes start to finish.

Thanks for all the helpful tips while performing this job. I realized this is not the correct way to do it but by far is the easiest way to do the job for what is essentially a disposable car. If Your car is an SRT4 or something special I recommend doing it the correct way. Some helpful tips while doing this job which weren't mentioned in the video. There are some little Peg tabs inside the heater box that help center core they need be removed in order to remove heater core. Also since accessing the heater box can be done Thru the inside of the car have a second person push up on the inside of the heater box allowing the heater core installation without damaging it. All the tools mentioned in the video got the job done I did have access to a Dremel and a cut off wheel which I did use but you couldn't use them entirely. When I was all done you couldn't tell once all the accessories were back in place with the exception of some aluminum ducting tape where cut marks were. everything worked perfect because I didn't have to take the whole dash out thanks again for posting this video the job took me about three and a half hours but I was trying to do a clean job on the firewall and it paid off in the end.

How did you remove the vacuum box from the firewall

This just proves what I've said for years. Car makers cud design cars to be user repairable, but they'd rather you shell out $BIG$ to have the dash removed. My dad used to call it 'built in profit'!
I bypassed my heater core two years ago .. I'd rather wear a trench coat and gloves than shell out the hard earned $$$.

Thanks for the video. I did this, except I did not cut the end piece at all. What I did was cut the plastic part that you showed the core slipping in and out of. That piece was easy to cut down and I was still able to keep enough there, that I didn’t have to cut nothing up under the dash. I couldn’t imagine having to try to tape and or glue that piece back up in there. I am guessing you couldn’t either, that’s why you never followed up with a video on it. But, yes and thanks I was able to use your initial idea and made it even easier.

Mechanic standpoint that's actually the fastest way to do it they are a pain in the ass to getthat I will tell you so the way he did it is actually kind of easy and simple what you can actually cut it slowly and make it neater and actually pull it out I don't care what anybody says did a good job

How are you supposed to reseal the end of the hvac box that is cut off?

Hey man your a fucking genius. I was wondering if this was possible and you totally answered that question.👍🏻👍🏻
Question, where does that small 3rd vacuum line go? The one that’s just above the supply lines for the heater core and goes through the firewall right above them? Mine broke flush right at the firewall and I have no clue where it goes once in there. Does it go to the heater core or does it go passed it to something else? I know it’s from the valve vacuum check but clueless where it goes.

@J D how did you reseal the hvac box that you cut off? I am in this situation now. the heat will not come out if the vents with this end cut off.

Aluminum tape is what I used

@@tevinwilkerson9888 yea, I got a mess now. The ductwork piece I cut out got messed up and I couldn't reuse it. Everything is back together now. A little warm air comes out of front vents and defroster but cold air comes out the bottom. Lol.
The worst part is something (maybe a piece of the ductwork) is stopping the blend door from opening all the way so now I can't even turn the ac back on when I want. Im gonna have to take it all apart again and try to fab some kinda of ductwork piece to seal this thing up and hope that I can figure out what is stopping the blend door from moving proper. Smh

Gets the job done but destroys all value of the vehicle but if one doesn't care about all that then easy enough 🤣🤣

This- this has to be the worst how-to advice I've ever seen. People, don't cut out from the structure of your car and unseal your HVAC box for this.

People do some dumb shit. I can fix it the right way faster and not fuck anything up. Plus I don’t have to wait for any glue or JB weld to dry.

Are you freaking serious? Are you off your meds? Blathering away at high speed about hacking a huge hole in a firewall.... I watched this to the end because I was waiting for a punch line or something. A perfect example of how not to repair something.

That's a very dumb way of removing the heater core, I hope people don't follow this idiotic idea and destroy their cars.
