This one was requested by Steph.
This begins at the end of Ennis' divorce and when Jack is singing "King of the Road". It concludes upon Jacks "encounter" in mexico.
To me it's one of the saddest scenes in the movie. Because of what Jack turns too when he can't get the love that he needs from Ennis.
Enjoy.

To think Jack drove basically a thousand miles just to see Ennis, when he heard of his divorce. oh my God, my heart.
When I first saw this scene back in 2005, I felt the heartbreaking disappointment that Jack felt driving all those miles away from Ennis. Jake enacted those feelings brilliantly on screen.
... and then a thousand MORE to the border to find a boy to do the Macarena naked with him 🌵🤼♂️
Talk about jumping to conclusions.
JACK NASTY
Coconut Head jack hottie**
Even though Ennis makes Jack cry, I still feel bad for him too. He loves Jack very much, but he's afraid to ever show it for fear of being killed.
+EdGringo78 Of course. That's why he ends up all alone only with his dead lover's shirt hanging in his closet at the end. At least Jack has some balls in life.
And those balls got him killed in the most painful way.
***** That's what you got when you have balls in life.
Aye if getting your face bashed in over some sex is worth it then by all means go ahead.
@Melanie Willard I found the portrayal of Ennis in the film equally as sympathetic as in the novel. Ennis couldn't overcome his fears for what he was told would happen to men like him and Jack IF folks found out about them. Yes it is sad, pathetic and wasted decades of their lives in not being together, but I could understand where both Ennis and Jack were dealing with in this story.
Jack crying desperately while leaving defeated has haunted me for years... His face... No one deserves such pain.
It makes me feel very sad, too. 😞
I have no word to explain how hurt i feel watching this scene ,if ennis has tried har to find a way to manage with jack,he would have survived cos after this scene , the world became dark for jack ,for 20 years he waited ,jack must have loved ennis that much , cos he wanted to leave ennis but find it teribly difficult to leave cos he loves him a lot ,and ennis never communicate ,cos it would have made a difference to jack but ,he never say much about what he feels.
@Daniel Treadwell 😂😂😂😂😂
The only time women have empathy for heart broken men is when they're gay.
@@DimitrisLian Aren’t you OP also?
Jack loved Ennis so much it's insane he kept their shirts together in his closet for years talked about their ranch dream to his parents he would give up the world for Ennis.
He even traveled many miles to see Ennis after his and Alma's divorce. He went to see Ennis to see if he changed his mind so they could live together🤧
Just the other day I saw that those 2 shirts had been sold at an auction and whoever bought them keeps them together just like in the movie.
Let's not blame Ennis. He was just scared, he didn't ant either of them to die, so for both love and safety he had to make sure they dind't live together. How he is at the very end of the movie is so sad:'(
Haha
And to think Jack got killed anyway...
But he didn't make things any easier for jack either, did he? 😭
Ennis put his children above his happiness if more divorced parents did that we would have a better world and fewer screwed up kids. You can tell in the final scene of the movie when his daughter goes to tell Ennis that she is getting married and she is so happy when he accepts her invitation to the wedding.
@@rrider3946
Not the case. The children were probably an excuse. The divorce literally happened because he wasn’t taking care of his children.
Its funny cause on his way there he's happily singing and then that quickly changes to crying and listening to sad songs on his way out
+Radiohead Not only that. At the end of the clip, when he's looking for sex with a male prostitute, you can hear "Quizás, quizás, quizás", that complains about a lover who never is for a real commitment in a love relationship and always answers "maybe" to every pass.
+conatcha that was a really good catch
Man thank you for bringing that to my attention
THAT'S LIFE!!!
funny?
Every time I see this scene, I just want to change it. If Ennis had just had a little extra courage for a few seconds, he could've had something more with Jack. Everything after this in their relationship was downhill. If Ennis had just said, "stay here. I have to take the girls home and I'll be back and we can talk" then just maybe there would've been a happier ending. I just want him to say those words so damn much it hurts!!! But alas, he never does...
Ennis was shown a dead gay man with his dick torn off by his father as a nine year old. I'm sure that traumatized him for life and made him repressed his homosexual feelings for Jack.
@Bracken Alexander he saw his children once a month. I don’t think he wanted to screw that up for a weekend of fun
Too much commitment. Somebody drives a 1000 miles after misunderstanding a letter, it's pretty scary. Plus I think Ennis didn't want to be tied down to anyone.
@@taylorc2542 they have to drive that distance to see each other regardless. The trip isn't really that excessive.
The true culprit is homophobia and a homophobic culture, which prevented them from openly loving and raising their own children together.
And very sadly, homophobia, and punishment of people who are openly gay, is still a problem in the world today
Such an unbelievably beautiful and passionate movie
0:41 I didn't notice this before, but when Jack lets his hand rests affectionately on the back of Ennis' neck, Ennis glances back at his daughters and subtly removes Jack's hand :(
that’s what haunts me the most
Heath got a lot of praise for his role in this, which of course was well deserved, but I think Jake deserves just as much praise, especially when you watch a scene like this and how he goes from elation to disappointment to utter sadness.
Actually gyllehaal was the only one of the pair to receive a major award for his performance.
Heath ledger got snubbed :(
God. The way Ennis pushes Jack’s hand away when he caresses his face gets me every time. All Jack wanted was a happy life with Ennis and my heart breaks for him
This is the moment when we realize that this is every bit as much Gyllenhaal's movie as it is Ledger's. He carries so much in his expressive eyes and his tears tell more of the story than Ennis's fists do.
I've always appreciated Jake Gyllenhaal's big eyes, and in BrokeBack Mountain it's those eyes, along with Jake's incredible acting, that you go from heaven to hell with.
Yeah lol we need to appreciate him more. He is super talented, like heath is too bright sometimes people doesn't pay attention to Jake, his performance in this movie always on point.
@@no_longer_I think Jake performance is more appreciated 'cause he is one of the pair who actually win a big award for this.
@@bia-9978absolutely, Jake is one of the finest and most versatile actors, both in film and on stage.
heath ledger in this film is amazing, with out saying much, his face, eyes, and silence, tell you everything, his pain, his love, his anguish, its as if he is talking all the way through the film, and its only after when you think about it, that he actually doesnt say much at all, this is a sign of a great actor, who deserved to win the oscar.
See this comment 14 years ago before Heath died...
And at the end he did won an Oscar.
You are right. The mark of true talent.
Guao lo aprecias tes cuando aún cuando teníamos a heath
Jake Is phenomenal too
Jack is such an open-hearted and optimistic character, who bears a life full of disappointment. What a crushing reality!
This movie is a constant pain :,(
Whenever watching this I have to remind myself that the story takes place before IM, cellphones, affordable fast public transport etc. and that it would have taken days to exchange just a single message apiece. Jack would have been on the road for days before he got to Ennis, after waiting months for the news of the divorce. Back in those days there was ample opportunity to miss someone, because so much time passed between meetings making feelings & words precious.
The way Jack was so happy cause this could finally be the chance they needed to live together only to leave crying and devastated. 😢
The acting was so real, my heart broke for Jack when he cried.
That's one of the scenes that always makes me cry in this movie. Heartbreaking to watch Jack driving away in tears.
So sad :( jacks crying but you still can't really blame Ennis because he had to look after his kids.
Why not telling him to wait in a motel till his kids go back to their mother's home
All the scenes in this movie are so well done. I've been studying acting for a few years and it's so hard to do scenes like that...letting all that emotion hit and reacting to someone not giving you what you want. And in this scene you just feel completely frustrated with Ennis and so sad for Jack *sigh*
Arielrosemusic Woah wtf your comment is 9 years old
Woah wtf you comment is 12 years old
I feel tremendous sadness for Jack, but no anger at Ennis. He was just responding to the homophobic culture they lived in

This is such a relatable feeling. You go out of your way for someone, and they just leave you in the dust.
Im straight and this is the best film ever. Its so good.
Stupid MAN2488 im 12 and i listen to non modern music and love this movie
guys no one give a fuck, jesus...
So much of this movie represents a big part of my life. The phrase, "it gets easier", is not always true. 52 now and it just gets harder and harder. Without getting into the gory details, there's a huge chunk of my heart that I lost decades ago and I don't think it will ever heal. I honestly try not to be a cynic but there's so much pain in this life and it's really hard to see the brightness anymore.
It does get easier when you accept yourself for who you are, but of course love stuff is hard, and love and pain will always be together.
You don’t ever one the pain. You just learn to live with it.
It's a meaningful memory in your life ,a lost love leaves a scar ,that's the thing about love it's so bitter sweet I think the heartache gets ya sooner or later ! We just have to keep breathing and keep focused on the positive of the hear and now !
You just have to give others a chance to bring those feelings or joys to you. Maybe they may nit feel the same like the past. Always give yourself a chance to recover and space to explore and expand, so you can move in. Give others chance to show you their worth in your life. Kind of like self therapy. Have faith in yourself.
I'm sorry. I really am
0:18 - one of my fav moments in all acting I've seen :D Can't fake that!
We just cant be happier than Jake Gyllenhaal in this scene
Lol but it is faked.. it's a story.. it's not real 😂🙏 these are actors... Acting a role
I mean, he is faking that, so...
@@TheNewTomboy we know wtf
"Here I am". Then Jack gets heartbroken.....again. So do we.
I think Alma Jnr. might have suspected something unusual about the relationship between Jack & her dad, and I think she comes close to guessing the truth by the end even though she never lets on. The smile Jenny gives Jack when first introduced is so beautiful & sweet.
I wonder why Jenny’s character just disappeared after this scene and the thanksgiving one
They'd probably heard Jack's name mentioned in passing as they grew up, from their Dad's 'fishing trip' absences and from mail Jack sent to their house.
Jack's last ditch tongue trick effort had no affect in making Ennis be with him.
😭😭💀
This scene is so sad...I feel so bad for Jack...He so wants to be with Eniis,,wants to love him and always be by his side...my heart melts when he is crying....
Ennis' life became even harder after his divorce, Jack became a very lost soul, so sad.
Jack fucking Twist!
Yeah..after this the hope & light in Jack's eyes was gone.
0:18 this was me every Time i drove out of my Town to see my ex gf. About 9 hours drive, and when i was there she was never available or had just a couple of hours free because i was a secret for her family. You never know how hard and sad It feels until you love someone with your soul and that person does this to you. I feel you Jack...
Acting perfection.
Heath Ledger was robbed of an Oscar for this role.
@@peg202xo7Jake won an oscar for this, but he was great too
This scene broke my heart. Cross that. This movie broke my heart. TT_TT
I don't think Ennis ever drove all the way to Texas to visit Jack, like ever.
He was poor. Pretty sure he couldn't afford gas that much.
Jack says at one point that Ennis doesn’t have a truck that could even make the trip.
That moment you realize how in love you are with Jake Gyllenhaal…as a gay man, I believe there is NO-ONE else in the world who could have played these parts and carried such an important film to these heights. I will be forever grateful to Heath and Jake for all they have given to our community…..
An adequate film, but with morally bankrupt themes of serial adultery and sodomy.
This scene specifically breaks my heart because 1. Jack on the way there singing and happy and on the way back crying 2. The fact that Ennis is literally hurting because he loves him but can show it. (Jack doesn’t give a shit he loves this man so he’s gonna show it damn it) but damn jake gyllenhall(Dont know if I spelled that right) but he can pull off the cowboy look.
Fun fact right before the video cuts off the song in the background is saying “you’re wasting my you’re time” almost like trying to tell Jack something
Honestly Jake’s performance as Jack Twist is so one of the most fucking moving things I’ve seen from Tinseltown. That beaming smile before meeting up with Ennis evokes hope and... yet.... :(
As for Heath, he was robbed for Best Actor that year. I think his untimely death makes this already soul-crushing film so profoundly upsetting even 15 years later. May his memory forever be a blessing and this film’s legacy never vanish. Masterpiece.
This echoes the earlier scene when Jack drives away the first time after he drops Ennis off and then asks if Ennis will come back to brokeback mountain again. He drives away and watches Ennis in his rearview mirror. Then here, he drives away again after being rejected by Ennis. Two potent moments in which Ennis watches jack walk away after turning down a chance to let the relationship grow.
the tongue and the month licking meant he love and feel for ennis so much. and then he breaks his heart and then he left crying. oh very sad. damn you ennis
2:28 when i return from jobs interviews
Jack didnt deserve all the pain. 😫😫😫
Neither of them dead. We need to do away with homophobia. Lead two loving adults love each other openly, regardless of gender
@@amym5062facts 🙏
The majority have so much compassion for the men but their wives had to feel terrible. To have married and had children by these men who essentially were gay . That must've broken the wives. Having to go on with memories, plugging in the pieces to their husband's past behavior, when they were happy ,angry ,sad , excited.. was it their husband's lover who brought on certain feelings or them or what ?
Exactly! And all the more reason homophobia is a disaster for all concerned r ned...
Some people say Ennis wasn't gay.
@@anasoriano9661 Gay, bisexual, demisexual, pansexual, whatever the heck Ennis or Jack are, what they had was still, essentially, a homosexual/gay love
Everything in this movie, every single plot point, is believable and the creators never wanted to narrate a fairy tale. Of course we feel heartbroken for Ennis and Jack’s plight, but it’s a fact that Ennis was scared for their lives having witnessed what he did as a young boy.
Damn, I felt so sorry for Jack
This breaks my heart, this entire movie breaks my heart. Sometimes even when you have your soulmate you can't HAVE your soulmate. Goddammit Brokeback. 😭
Man I wish I had someone like Jack😍
Couldn't Ennis let Jack just hang out with him and his daughters for a while especially since he came that far
Remember what happened to Jack, how he was tortured and killed for being gay? That was the kind of culture they lived in. It’s still going strong in many parts of America today.
Ennis was protecting both of them, and even his daughters, by pushing Jack away (and I mean pushing away in both a physical and emotional sense)
Jack should have understood that ennis is a father first and he explained that he had his daughters that weekend and that is his time with his daughters
@@amym5062 idk man two dudes just hanging out doesn’t automatically imply that they’re gay especially to some passer by
@@amym5062 sorry but Jack wasn't tortured to death. Lureen(jack's wife) said the truth. The torture sequence was just Ennis' imagination of what he interpreted to be the truth.
@@Boxscot49 not to anyone else. But when you're gay in a homophobic place, everything you do is automatically dangerous in your mind. That's what Ennis felt. The terror and of course PTSD from the dead body of the gay man his father made him see during his childhood
The song at the end translating as “you’re losing time…” please just go for it, don’t live your life with regret for what could have been.. 😢
Ennis!!!! Why???? We all know you love him!!!!
This film is so well made. The juxtaposition of him being so happy and upbeat on the way to meet Ennis and then crying all the way home after being rejected by him. And how Ennis refused to accept his own love because of fear and internalised homophobia and refused to be w Jack even after getting divorced.
I've been watched Brokeback many times and yesterday i watched it again and i want to skipped this scene so much, seeing jack cry and heartbroken after smiling and goofy is too much
The most tragic love story in the whole world.. 💘
You ever read or watched " The Thorn Birds"??
Agree. Poetry. It's terribly heartbreaking, seing Jack so happy singing at first, then he's so sad and crying and all. Yeah, fucking powerful.
yes
i miss heath. rest in peace.
Jake Gyllenhaal is very talented actor, he can act very good.
When Jack cried it made cry too, maybe cause Jack was really happy and Ennis broke his heart.
Maybe... But Jack was in love with Ennis, he even wanted to live the rest of his life with him.
Jake G was just 23 years old when he made this film. He's so good it haunts you. I've never seen "Syriana", was Clooney that much better?...this was Jake's award
Jake was great but nothing compares to heath’s talent on this movie.
@@thatgirlreacts5465 that's your opinion?! jack is more fearless & loving..Jake did that perfectly..just bcz ennise's character was constipated doesn't make heath the unmatchable.I mean jake's eyes are so full of love in every scene..that's why I felt sad for jack but nothing for ennise.
@@ns1208 first of all, it’s Ennis. Second of all, you’re wrong.
@@thatgirlreacts5465 lol I am not..Heath plays an introvert man which he already was.Obviously he was great..But the more I see this film I feel heath should've portrayed some love for Jack.except the last & the kissing scene.

Love this movie so darn much, will always rewatch this..
The saddest and best part of this film
You cant make someone love you as much as you love them even though they still love you it just may not be in their personality to show it or take a chance on it.
Aww jack is so sweet
Bearing in mind the context and the time period of the piece, you realise that Jack simply driving up and hugging Ennis in such a tender lingering way in front of Ennis' daughters would sadly have been thought of as perverse and unmanly by their society. Ennis was probably on his guard from that moment so as not to give them away.
This scene is so heartbreaking. Ennis could've brought the kids to Alma, or have Jack stay over, and be discreet, all he wanted was to be with Ennis.
He also wanted to be there for his family. He mentioned he only gets the girls once a month, and he missed their visit the previous month.
So just sending the girls to Alma would mean 3 months total from the last time to the next that they get to spend with their father.
I know so badly he wanted to be with Jack, but the turmoil of family and the secret was too much. He had to do what he felt was right for his children, his blood
Jack could have stayed in a hotel for a few days and could cami back later after the kids are gone...
@emikabrekker exactly what I've always thought, 😢 Jack could've waited for him for the weekend
Expectations not being met, that happened to me. Learned the hard way.
The closet is so friggin' cruel, it's ruined so many people's lives.
things could've and would've been different for them ennis's father didn't make him watch that rancher get killed
poor thing. I guess this is where he realised that eh was hitting the wall. He must have been really mad about Ennis to keep going from that point
That’s sucks he drove long way to see him after 5 minutes taking done 😢
3:27 That's the movie's cinematographer in a cameo appearance.
Jack Nasty was very sad...
Wow, 14 years ago
Listen I'm here because P'Mile from KinnPorshe said that this was his favorite movie of all time but damn I'M IN😢😢😢❤❤
damn, this clip shows great contrast
the great meaningful sex you can have with someone you love deeply vs some cheap thrill with a brostitute
It always bugged me that they couldn't at least have lunch or something instead of him immediately driving all the way back. Just because Ennis has the girls doesn't mean they can't grab a meal and just catch up. Also emotional Jack is so effing cute omg.
vendo chicles! vendo chicles! vendo chicles!
So sad and heartbreaking that every time you see this movie, you're trying to find some other ways to look then accomplished they're dream's and finally be happy together.
But as always you're destroyed with the inevitable ending...
The scene of jack driving to Mexico was referenced in lil nas x that’s what I want video. After he spots the child of his lover.

@James Murphy Homophobe alert!
scubabrad please keep your hate filled ignorant opinions off of my videos. Any futher comments will be removed.
What’s crazy looking back is how YOUNG both actors were. They’re portraying 30/40 year olds and JG was 24 and HL was about the same. Jesus for HL to be so talented so young makes his death all the more tragic. I’ve taken more pills than the ones that killed him over hundreds of times. Why did it kill him and not me?
Jake was only 23 when they started filming.
As for the pills, the combination plus the quantity of each was way too much, sadly.
Great movie
See It was a double edge sword because Enies wanted to see jack and spend time with him. He had his girls with him and he hasn't seen them for a month! What the best thing that could of happend is he should of told jack to wait their let him spend time with his girls take them home. Come back and talk and spend time with Jack.
This scene isn’t about that tho. This is about Jack thinking Ennis’s divorce means they’re free to be together only to have Ennis communicate to him, ever so subtly, that nothing has changed on his end despite the divorce. You have to read between the lines.
love boys who cries💖💖💖
I find the song playing in mexico very ironic...
Oh my god, I never noticed. It describes Jack well with the situation he was facing. It's amazing how detailed this film is!
What’s the name of that song?
@@irishuwould5185 Quizás, Quizás, Quizás (Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps): the lyrics are someone desperately asking their lover to be with them and commit to them, and the lover just replies “perhaps, perhaps, perhaps”.

Both of the are Good Actors..
After watching that very tender hug, there's no way those little girls didn't think something was going on. Jack looked so happy and proud to meet them, too,
And in the ending scene Ennis has with Alma Jnr. I always get the feeling that she knows or at least suspects her Dad is gay. By that point in the timeline it is the late '70s-early '80s and Jnr. is in her early 20s (I think?) so it wouldn't have been as taboo an idea for her.
Agh!! Think abt the happy ending! Jake & ennise with their kids!

Pobre. Sé lo que es sentir eso. Amar a alguien y que te diga que no en el último momento. Te destroza.
This scene broke me.
This scene is really very sad! Especially this Mexican red-light district.... Apart from everything else, one can see here that streetwalking and brothels are always totally dreary - no matter if you have to work there or go there as a customer.
I just realized, was it purposeful to have the radio, when Enis turns him down, it says, “….in the thirty’s.” With a grey sky, not the sunny or warm weather you see if their together.
When it comes to someone feelings all jokes aside
It was selfish of Jack to think that Ennis would abandon his family just because he was divorced. Ennis is was still devoted to his girls and never forgot the trauma he saw as a boy
I don't think Jack expected Ennis to abandon his kids. It's just that he drove all that way and Ennis dismissed him so quickly and easily...again. Jack driving back crying is absolutely heartbreaking.
I want to cry
Pobre jaksito hiba contento y salio llorando 😭😭
