By Request another scene. This is actually more like 2 scenes but that's ok. It starts with Ennis getting Jacks postcard and ends right before the hotel scene.
This is were we feel overjoyed at seeing Ennis and Jack together again and sharing one of the most passionate kisses ever filmed. But at the same time we are sad as Almas world is turned upside down.
    A great Scene.
Remember Brokeback is out on DVD April 4th! Heaths Birthday!
    Enjoy.

I love the use of colors in this scene. Ennis is waiting in his pale apartment, with walls painted in beige and brown and a light blue sofa, his wife is wearing a salmon dress and he's wearing a light blue shirt with jeans. Suddenly Jack appears in his bright red car and wearing an red shirt. Everything was pale and dead Jack brought bright and vivid colors. In the next scene when Ennis came back home he's wearing a vest that is beige but with bright orange lining. It represents what Ennis is like outside and how he feels inside, what he hides. Everything in this movie is so well done and brilliant.

I love this movie so much, it meant and still means a lot to me. No other movie gives me this bittersweet mix of joy and heartache. Watching Jack and Ennis steal these little moments here and there, these pockets of happiness that they have to hide. How it's never enough and it's dangerous, but they love each other so much it's worth it. Even though it ends the way it does.

Alma is the most sympathetic character in this movie. Everyone else is culpable on some level. Ennis is sympathetic, but he's so afraid of himself it destroys every relationship he has. Jack comes across as the more sensitive one, but he's also practical and straight forward. Ennis can't cope the way Jack does.
It's a great character study of a self hating gay man but as a love story, it's just brutal.

It's unbelievable how the main four cast were in their early 20s and yet they were able to deliver an incredibly nuanced and profound performance beyond their age for this film. 17 years later and people are still talking about Brokeback Mountain while nobody even remembers what Crash is about.

You are missing the point. They got married and had kids because they thought they'd never see each other again. But then they did and they wanted to spend every minute they could with each other because they love each other. They are true loves. They didn't abandon their kids. They still took care of them and loved them. Love is strongest force in the universe there is no stopping it. These men are not "bad". They are human.

i'm really sorry, but i have a different opinion.
first off, i know that they love each other, and i do value their love. i have nothing against it.
you see, the thing is, their wives also loved them. their kids also loved them. of course they also love their kids, and their wives to some extent, but it is a fact that they love each other more. that's why they chose to run away and live together.
i do not think being gay or rejected by the society (which is THEIR own fears) justifies hurting innocent people. it's love to you. but is it love to their wives? who looked up on them and loved them? is it love for their children that has to live a life knowing that the love that had created them were just a show? i don't think so.
point is, if they do love each other, love each other then. they don't have to involve or hurt other people. even if the people involved forgave them, it would still be a goddamn selfish act.

As sad as I am for Alma I understand why they did something like this. I mean even in today’s time people are so blatantly full of hate for people that they think are different, so I can’t begin to imagine what it would have been like for people in this type of situation.
It is so obvious how much they loved each other. It took everything in both of them not to kiss each other right out in the open and in a way they did because they couldn’t stand not to, not to touch one another, hold one another, look at one another. They hug and kiss so desperately and with so much passion, like they had been starving, and honestly I think they were. They were almost drowning and when they got to be together it was like they could breathe again.

  • @Lisa-bc9xd
    @Lisa-bc9xd 8 лет назад +268

Damn it, if only this is the ending when they brought a ranch. The kiss
was to celebrate that they are finally together for good after moving
    into their own home.
Love the way how Ennis couldn't wait to kiss Jack.
He can no longer hold back the overwhelming joy and undeniable lust he has for Jack. When they broke away from their embrace, Jack clearly wants to kiss him too just hasn’t quite figured out how. You can tell by the look on Jack’s face that even he was taken by surprise with Ennis uninhibited passion. Pushing him backwards out of the open by clutching his collar as if he was afraid that he was going to run away and while flicking Jack's hat off so he can get as close to him as possible.
Usually Jack will have to make the first move.
They literally could not control themselves. They just want to be as one. When they paused to look at each other briefly and the intense look in Jack's eye, they know that this is all they ever wanted. Their eyes say it all, nothing in this world matters as long as they have each other. That is true love.
To convey layers of intense emotions with no dialog. The performance from these two actors can not be outdone!

We can not deny that Alma had every reason to be angry and resentful at Ennis. It is not so much that her husband was gay. it was all about her husband cheating on her. It would not matter that much if it were a man or another woman she was cheated on. At the end of the day, she is still betrayed and made to feel inadequate. We do not see anything in the story to even suggest that she was a bad woman, mother or wife.

It is a cruel irony, that the beauty of an impossible love is made all the more beautiful by being impossible. A wise man once said "Of all the arts, Tragedy is the proudest, the most triumphant; for it builds its shining citadel in the very centre of the enemy's country ... In the endurance of intolerable pain, and in the irrevocableness of a vanished past ... there is a sacredness,in which, as by some strange marriage of pain, the sufferer is bound to the world by bonds of sorrow."

Ouch! I’m gay, and I feel so bad for her, but at the same time I also just feel so bad for the two guys, that were never allowed to have the life that they deserved because of hatred and prejudice. Every time I just hear that music, I tear up, I actually saw that movie a few days after I broke up with my husband, they actually had to call an ambulance, because I was so broken. I never could finish watching this movie, I’ve tried but I can’t do it, it’s like a dagger in my heart, and a reminder, at the age of 51, of the one thing that I’ve never been able to find, true love. All I ever wanted was one man, that I could trust, who would be faithful, but I could fall in love with, and just have a happy life together. I don’t care about how much or how little money somebody has, I don’t care about religion, I don’t care about what colour they are, all I care about is what’s in their heart. Sometimes it feels like I’m looking for the impossible, because every guy I have fallen for has cheated on me, and I start wondering, what’s wrong with me that makes them do that? I’m faithful, trusting, never possessive or jealous, I’m just an average looking guy, with a really good body, and I think that’s the problem. I love the outdoors, I love to exercise, cycling, jog, and because of it people take one look at me, and think that I’m only interested in sex, just because I have a good body, but I want so much more than that, and here in Toronto every guy only wants one thing, sex with no strings attached, or an open relationship, but I’m not into that, I want to belong to just one guy, and one guy only, do you think I’m asking for too much? I’m beginning to think that I am, but I cannot compromise who and/or what I am, just so I can have a relationship, I shouldn’t have to. I just pray to God it’s not too late at my age... One thing that kills me, guys hit on me all the time, but the second I see the word love, they take off so quickly. It’s weird, maybe I’m old-fashioned, but I thought when someone says I love you, it would be a good thing, I guess not in today’s society. I’m running out of time, I refuse to go on those apps like tinder, those are just for hook ups, to be honest I don’t know what to do. The biggest problem is I’m overly emotional, I wear my heart on my sleeve, and that seems to be something that scares guys away the second I show emotion. Of course I enjoy having sex as much as the next person, but there’s so much more in life than just that, When I love somebody, I love them with all my heart and soul, but if it’s not mutual, it doesn’t work. And now that I have an ileostomy bag, thanks to Crohn’s disease, and to be blunt, I had to have my entire rectum removed because it was cancerous, guys see my body, but as soon as I get dressed in the locker room at the gym, and they see the bag stuck to my side, they look at me in disgust. How in gods name am I ever going to meet a guy who’s willing to be in a long-term marriage, if they can’t get past the fact that I have a bag stuck to my side, and for those that don’t know, And ileostomy bag, is literally a plastic bag stuck on the lower part of your abdomen, and your intestine is sticking out of it into the bag, to collect waste. I have 5% of my entire G.I. tract left, they don’t drink, I don’t do drugs, what the hell am I telling everybody this? Forgive me, I guess I’m just venting out loud, but it’s so frustrating, and so heartbreaking, that people can be so superficial, so judge mental, without even saying a word to me. I can’t tell you how many times guys see me, noticed I have a good body, because I like to wear form fitting clothing, and when it gets down to it, they see the bag, and totally freak out, usually leaving immediately. I’m not the type of person it was meant to be single, I know in my heart I was meant to be married, faithfully, to a man that is equally respectful, kind, decent, and loving, is that really too much to ask for? Even before I had the bag, all I would get is a one night stand, and they would never call the next day, so I stopped having one night stands, because I got sick and tired of being used for sex and nothing else, I decided to get to know the person first, but that didn’t work either, so what in the hell am I supposed to do? I’m literally asking you, are you thinking a city the size of Toronto, which is essentially a gay Mecca, there wouldn’t be any problem finding a guy. But it never works out that way, when I was younger, I did the party scene, I did the drinking, but never ever did the drug thing, it just never appealed to me, but I had a lot of fun in my 20s and 30s, but when I found out that my husband has been cheating on me throughout our entire 20 years of marriage, it absolutely crushed me. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to fully trust somebody again, because he hit it so well, I had absolutely no idea, until one day he accidentally left his phone at home, and these guys started to call, i’m leaving text messages. I never touched his phone, because I respect my lovers privacy, but every time it activated he had left the screen open to his hidden tinder app account, and I saw at least 20 guys, that were talking to him about having sex. At that point I did pick up the phone and look, how could I not? Turns out that for almost 20 years he has been sleeping with literally hundreds of different guys behind my back, usually while I was at work,. There are no words to describe the pain, every time I watch this movie, or at least try to, that exact same pain comes right back, it feels like somebody is literally crushing my heart, and all I want is to feel that love again, with somebody I can trust. I refuse to let him, turning into someone I am not, because I still will trust somebody, but like anything else that trust has to be earned, not given. Perhaps I’d become a little paranoid after being with somebody for so long, and discovering what I did, but I swear to god if ever I’m lucky enough to find another guy, that is the first thing I Will make it absolutely clear, that I want 100% monogamy, no head games, no cheating, no manipulations, just honest love between the two of us, so I ask again, is that too much to ask for, does it even exist anymore? By all means respond and answer my questions, Because I know that it doesn’t matter how old you are, you learn new things every single day of your life until the day you die, so be honest with me... from what I’ve described, did I do something wrong? Does it sound like there’s something screwed up with me that would make guys be so heartless? But please be honest, I can take it, after living through what I’ve gone through, with my cheating husband and my health, I can survive anything else, thanks for listening, and God bless 😘
