  • The Digitech RP200 is way better than I remembered. I'm still quite put-off by its appearance but the sonic outcomes are pretty surprising and the physical design makes it a very comfy ride. Nice pedal.

    Clean tones, reverb, chorus, delay, tremelo, phaser, drum looper, are great ! The overdrive are a little cheesy but overall a great pedal for practice and recording at home. I've had mine for 20 years and don't regret buying it.

    I got this as a gift from my dad when I first started playing guitar (2002?)...it was pretty insane to hear all the effects when I was just starting out, haha. I distinctly remember playing with that YA YA setting, I also played with that little drum looper for hours.

    Just found this at Guitar Center used for $56;00 in box with power supply.
    Haven't plugged it in nor messed with it yet, I figured I would watch reviews and listen to it in action.
    Still not sure if I purchased a gem or a turd considering i cohld have bought a used Big Muff or a Original Dunlop Cry Baby for $45;00 both in pristine condition.
    Great Video presentation and really opened my eyes to a lot involving rhe unit.
    In other word's I should have watched your video review first.
    The Delay and Wah were the sellers for me just wish they had more depth and warmth.
    What more is suprising for giggle i purchased a Line 6 Spider 30 watt amp with over 200 presets and cabinet tones etc and to my suprise for the price and the installed presets and bells & whistles that are packed in theamp is shockingly impressive and put a lot of pedals and switches to shame.
    And for a low reasonable price of $149:00 it's a steal if you get a chance to play or grab one it is completely worth it & saves on pedals and gear in the long run.

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  5 лет назад +1

      Yeah man I wouldn't be too concerned that you've made a bad purchase. Remember of course that you can still link individual pedals to this unit, simply making it part of your pedal chain. The modulations are good and the reverbs and delays, well, the audience certainly isn't going to be able to tell the difference! GF

  • @Eged282

    I have had the RP100, RP90,80.
    RP255, 355, 500, and sold them all.
    For some reason I kept the 200 and I really like the Wah/expression pedal-WELL BUILT.. Really easy to program and I like most reverbs and mods. The big brother, RP 255 has better reverbs(Lexicon) for sure and better variety of effects overall since it’s a bigger chip,. But I as a pro for almost 40 years, I can tell you , that even today, this old machine can deliver. Especially for a small restaurant gigs as well as rehearsals. I use boss pedals for stage and had many Zooms, Boss, Korg pedals(they all had their pros/cons)..These 200s are USA made..btw..

    Thanks for the review!
    I have had this one at home for practice!
    Pros to me:
    - Cheap
    - Clean sounds
    - versatility of expression pedal
    - Drum machine for practice
    - durability (20 years and still running perfect)
    - time precision (changing presets)
    Cons to me
    - Overdrives and distortions keep some mist in the sound
    - too Specific Adapter (100 miliamps of difference and the pedal goes crazy in tones and control) AC current
    You will find hundreds of guys saying shit about it, and I agree if you compare to analog and expensive options, but in creative hands this is a jewel!
    It’s value for money
    Regards!

    Oh man, you're doing what I've been trying to figure out! I've had an RP300 for 15 years and never really use it, and I've been trying to figure out what if any type of way I can just use the headphone jack to connect to an external speaker instead of an amp. Everyone says, "no, no you'll blow the speaker" but you're doing it here? Can you share what you did? (Does you studio monitor speaker have a 3.5mm jack ?)

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  3 года назад +2

      First of all, in all my years doing music I have never seen a 'blown speaker' haha ....and you're right, people talk about it a lot but it never seems to happen! It certainly doesn't happen in this case, all you do is get a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable as supplied with most bluetooth speakers and plug it from the headphone socket to the speaker's AUX socket. Set the pedal's master volume from maybe 1/3 to about half then set volume on the speaker to whatever is comfortable. Same deal with computer speakers, except they usually have the cable built-in so it's even easier. Blown speakers, pah! :)

    • @joeblough261
      @joeblough261 3 года назад +1

      @@gearfacts Ha! LOL, thanks for the reply. I have a pair of tiny little speakers that I used to take w/me on trips to plug my phone into, as I bought them long before Bluetooth became a thing. But I also have one of those 808 Canz Bluetooth speakers that sounds pretty good - and I often use it with a 3.5mm cable vs. Bluetooth - so tonight I'll try it out with the RP300 while heeding your advice to keep the pedal's volume really low at first, and see what happens. I'll let ya know!

    • @WilDBeestMF
      @WilDBeestMF 3 месяца назад

      @@joeblough261 While it won't blow anything up, it can definitely cook the driver in a cheap portable speaker that will just have your speaker farting out on lows until it finally kicks the bucket, and then you destroy another cheap speaker, repeat until time ends haha.

    I'm thinking of buying this just for the effects like delay and stuff like that. I have a 6505+ deuce VT series 212 and a hot rod DeVille 212 amps so I'm curious if this will rob too much tone from my tube amps

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  2 года назад

      Hmm that's always a hard question to answer as it depends so much on the individual guitar and amp. I'd be 70/30 in favor of it working fine as it's a very low noise pedal so hopefully it won't pull any brightness out of your sound. In any case, you won't lose much money, these are selling for peanuts now :)

    If I understand you correctly, you are demoing this through the headphones out into an amp and speaker?) It can sound better through an actual guitar amp. Headphone outs usually don't sound good at all. While I really wanted to love it, it's just ok for the most part. Lots of good effects. But it really takes some tweaking to get it to sound decent. I still mess with mine from time to time. Got some mod ideas that I'd like to try. Maybe someday.

      @@gearfacts Cool, I'll have to check it out did you try it through an actual guitar amp though?
      I kinda want to mod mine (using a 5 pin din cable) to have the pedal separate from the unit. I like to adjust the controls like on top of an amp or desk, but I want to be able to use the wah and pitch effects with the pedal on the floor under my foot. It frustrates (and makes me neck hurt) me bending over to adjust the parameters. I mean what the heck, it's an old unit but it's not worth much.
