in fact just around 2015 they send me a note that these kind of videos were not appreciated....smile...at least their head of marketing did so. I know as I was in contact with a lot of guys at Digitech that he just feared I say something that could have legal consequences so he told me to stop these vids
Best informative video to date, I've watched so many so far and most peoples videos consist of the presets that they like and then they're skipping thru the rest and not actually presenting the full ability of the unit itself. Very well done, excellent video. Thank you.
He must be a great guitar teacher. Explains everything very clear and with out any complications, after what I saw I just went and I bought the damn thing...
WOW!! Ralf, EXCELLENT, straight forward, simple and extremely effective explanation of the RP355!!! I'm looking around for an older effects unit, this one popped up and I saw several demos - YOURS WAS BY FAR THE MOST IMPRESSIVE WITHOUT BEING ANNOYINGLY BORING!!! LOL!! Many thanks!
I just recently bought the RP350 for $189 last Christmas, as a gift to myself. Now after seeing this demo, which I have to say is very well done, I am going to have to trade it in for the RP355.
Great video....I'm one of those who learns by seeing and doing, not by reading a manual. I had the ORIGINAL RP1 when they came out in 1993, paid $450 for it then, and it was worth every penny. I just got the RP355 for $100 and can't believe the versatility. Thanks again for the instructional videos. Subscribed and Favorited!
Hey, Really great demo. You saved me a lot of time by showing functions I did not know it had. I looked at your video 20 minutes after I got home with the RP355 and by having your video playing and messing with it, you cut down my reading time immensely. The manual is actually pretty damn good as manuals go. I just bought a Yamaha CP4, and it's a fantastic stage piano and user friendly {thank GOD} but the manual is junk, and they don't have someone like you giving a great demo walking through the functions. Thanks a lot. Wish you had more time
Thanks for the video. I just got an RP355 and its many features are a little overwhelming at first. This tutorial describes the basics clearly. It would be great if you did a "part 2" demonstrating how the RP355 interfaces with a computer and what the possibilities are.
Thanks for the vids Ralf. I got an RP355 today based on seeing these, and boy am I glad I did. I've only scratched the surface but I love the thing and can't wait to figure out the finer details.
Thanks for your very useful instructional video. Your first one was the reason I bought the RP355 and I've been hoping that you would do another one that covers how to use it. I've had great fun with it so far but now that you've done this video I can start using some more features, particularly the loop. It sure beats the useless manual! Thanks again for an excellent job.
Awesome demonstration! I'm seriously considering buying this pedal, and this video gave just enough demonstrations to show the quality, variety, and features this pedal has. Thanks for making this video to show what this thing has to offer!
Thanks. Good tutorial. I've had the bass pedal since they first came out. Never used stompbox mode and last week's gig I must have accidentally turned it on. Looked up in the manual how to turn stompbox on and off and was holding the two pedals too long. Didn't realize that I needed to do it quickly until I saw your video. Tonight should be much more enjoyable.
Thank you so much!!! It's been two years since I used mine and I forgot how to access the tuner....got to bypass and thought that was all I had to do. YAY!!!! Love your hair too BTW : )
thank you very much, this was helpful. i am thinking of buying a rp355. i only have an rp80 currently. i bought it about 4 years ago. time for an upgrade. the recording feature seems really cool.
Very instructive video, unlike others, here we have 10 minutes of pure content, every second is profitable, thank you very much, I am about to buy this multi-effect, but a bit unsure about the practical use. Now I'm clear that I want it. PS: If you're not yet on Digitech payroll, they should change this....
You're good, succinct and spot on man. I actually like the 350 and 355, which is better in most aspects--beefier and more crisp, but 350 sounds smoother, more 'plastic' in a good way.
Thanks for this man. I've owned this thing for so many years but I had no clue how to really use it lol. Just finally picking up guitar again and gonna check it out :)
make sure you adjust the "expression level" on the footswitch setting. If it's set to zero or very low, you may not notice or hear any difference. there is a setting that you have to go to for footswitch that will say like effects level or mod level, that will switch it from being a volume/effects change on the expression pedal. hope both of those things help. I have an older one, but that should help
I see, ok thanks. The problem is that I have a floyed rose so it's kind of an headache tuning all the time... Thanks! I should receive my ordered rp355 in about a week and your videos really helped me to deiced :) Can't wait to get it and start recording:P
can anybody help me. im looking for a distortion pedal and came across this. can you regulate distortion using the pedal? im looking to incorporate it into my original on acoustic like ocean by John Butler. thanks :)
cheers for this demo, very clear and straight to the point unlike other videos lol im going to buy this for definate tommorow, i owned an RP155 2 years ago, so I know I can trust them for the effects clarity unlike previously boss and zoom pedals ive owned. i love the A/B switch and stompbox modes, i play alot of progressive rock and metal so will come in very handy :)
You've convinced me to but this! I was sad that guitarproshop didnt demo it but now im not, You are kickass my friend hahah and you explain things very well, Thank you
@TrippyTheShroom I had mine set up within a few days. If you've ever had a processor it won't take long. If you haven't it might take a while. As far as guitar processors go I think this has one of the easiest interfaces available.
@pgf1178 Make sure you have the OUTPUT cords going to the amp. The Input cord should be from the guitar to the pedal. amp ------ pedal ------- guitar Note: Usually I plug the output into the Left output. It seems to work better.
@ralfjung i guess i would have to make do with making 10 or 20 presets of patches without speaker simulation and then work up the EQ and volume balance so the effected tone and the bypass tone would be similar, close but doable right?
Great vid! I hope Digi is sponsoring your good work! I would like this unit just a little more if it had TWO pedals... one I could use as volume, another for delay/reverb level.
Great demo many thanks, i just got mine and it sounds fantastic with my Tokai SG, but unfortunalry just through my head phones, can you recomend any decent (cheap) Studio Monitors as i know nothing about them or what ever you think would be good for purely home use, cheers mate.
You're video's are really good. I'm just trying to decide which multieffect to get from Digitech to play live and to record with for fun. I'm leaning toward the RP500. I'll be using the effect with my Marshall Amp and a few guitars! :-) I really like the idea of the A/B amp switching on this one. I'm hoping the RP500 has the same feature set. Thanks man. Tim
that is really nice that it has a looper built in... i just got a looper for $150... it probably has more settings for the loop then this does, but the fact is, this has at least the basics of a tons of effects and costs way less and is much easier to set up then having a ton of individual pedals... i was looking to get the Zoom G1x for 79 dollars...
thanks for this review. I haven't found this unit in stores to try, as it appears they're trying to move out the old versions first (e.g. 350). Now I feel I can just order it online.
@MrGamer1996 I didn't see a reply so I thought I could help. You don't have to run threw a computer. You can run this into an amp, mixing board or head phones as well. It has XLR outs as well as 3/4 inch jacks in addition to USB, and 1/4 inch head phone.
The X-Edit software and ASIO drivers are now available! I had to run a firmware update to 1.2, and installed the drivers and editor, and it works very well with Samplitude Music Studio 14. P.S., there is no lag switching between patches.
To use USB, you'll need to download and install the ASIO drivers, and you'll need recording software that can use those drivers, like Cubase LE which comes with the RP355 (I use Samplitude Music Studio). And if you download install the new X-Edit, you'll be able to edit your patches via USB as well.
@ShadowShocker99 No, i lowered the distortion treble and turned of the eq,i stil hear a very bright sound , i only have this on my new amp, its a fender frontman 212R, before that i used a behringer , and didnt have that problem, could it be because the fender is different and has more "power" ?
@MrNatrocks right listen, i found this problem, but if you go through the whole list up to 70 you go to your presets, go back up through them again and you go back to the original presets, hope this helps :)
hi. does the rp355 got an simulation for acustic guitar? I got the Roland microcube, and i really like the acustic simulation there. Is there also a Mesa rectifier like amp? Because i play both amp modellings most of the time.
@ralfjung ok but i can i use like that when i'm not recording? because my amp is very crappy and even with the rp 355 it wouldn't sound very good, i want to do that for practicing too.
I like the RP 500 but i´m hessitating because of the money, would you reccomend this one or should I save a little more? im not a profesional, but i Like to get the best sound i can get.
This pedal is good for the price but will take getting use to ... The only thing is the wah pedal controls the volume bot the wah .. Is there a setting I'm not doing right
I also own a RP 355 & am new to recording.I would like to know why cubase stops responding on windows 7 & what's the way to setup this unit for cubase? Pls reply.Nice review by the way.
+CT Anthony Yes it does. Watch the video once again. He showed the looper. A drum kit modeler is also available with some cool rhythms! Basically, an all-in-one pedal!

I've had this pedal for almost 10 years and finally decided to learn how to use it.
I'm glad I'm not the only one
damn, bro, the same story
Same here. It mostly sat in it's box for 8 years and I've only been using it for the last 2.
Left my 350 in the top of the closet forever. Got it out the other day and it sounds so much better than I remembered...
Same 2021
Digitech should have paid you for this type of tutorial. They would have sold a ton more units. Thank you from 2020.

I just bought a rp355 after watching your videos.Great demos.
I got my RP355 on Tuesday, programmed a dozen presets, and played live with it on Wednesday with no problem and sounded fantastic.
It has chromatic tuner? Im looking for a multi fx pedal which has talso tuner lol
@@ALEXISFEEL It has a tuner, but it's pretty basic.
Wow I have had the 355 for two years and didn't know I could do half of this.. Thank you
Ho man thank you so much I got this for 10 years and never found out how this works properly but you just told me THANK YOU SO MUCH THANK YOU
thanks... I got a serious case of manual overwhelm... your video made it so clear and easy!
Simply a superb, straightforward, explanatory overview! Thanks you!

do you think this will sound ok with my squire strat and my 15 watt spider III, i dont like my sound that much, will this improve it
is there a tap tempo? can you use looper with drum machine?
thanks man awesome vid
do i need for normal sound recording an external sound card with cubase or can i put straight to pc and use cubese?
@ralfjung
hmmm, doesnt make any sense to me... whatever if the pedal makes a nice sound im happy :)
is there a way to creat more banks but stored on my computer and loaded via X-edit?
i sse u are running this thou a Mixer . What if just running thou Guyar amp only does it work the same way ????
