    During my journey thru the effect pedal/effects processors world, I have owned all of the name brands. The Boss, M6, Zoom, Digitech, etc. I started with the RP500 and after two years and several thousand dollars, I am back to the RP500. Great tones, nice features, solid construction, and most important, easy to use. The X-Edit patch management software is a dream to use and for all of you tweakers, it's Heaven sent. With the firmware 2.0 download, you also get a 20 sec. looper. Rock on \m/

      I have the option of buying it used $150. Is that a good price now? Thanks for your review, I was wondering if it had a looper and I know now. Just looking to practice, wish it had a drum machine too :)

    you can smooth out much of the harshness by pressing the mixer button in the back. even into an amp it smooths out the harshness. i used to do this with a rp3 too. by turning on the cab modeling that was just designed for use with a mixer and running it straight thru the power amp in on my amp it removed all the harshness and smoothed it right out. made it sound professional. I get great sounds with my rp500.

    I just got my rp500 today and am amazed, 100% improved the tone of my peavey 6505 . Love how I can just plug my guitar into the unit, plug some headphones in and just practice on the couch. One of the best things i've ever bought

    ive had my rp500 since late year and i carry it around pretty much every other day to band practice and i've used it in about 30-40 shows and it's still going good. they really out did themselves

    I used my RP500 playing live gigs, and it was great. I used it both straight into a PA, and as a pedalboard into a mic'd amp/cab.
    After a 10 year hiatus, I dusted it off this week and fell in love with it again. Even the tone library presets are amazing. It's a shame that Digitech didn't transition to the present. I enjoyed their multifx systems. It would've been interesting to see what was possible with USB, bluetooth, and IR technologies we have now.

    Its really easy man, to be honest I havent really got into storing my own effects yet. But the computer software that comes with it is great. Its like a Big interface of the pedal and when you change settings on the computer the pedal changes too. Then you can save and move effects around, its great. If anything the sounds coming out of this thing are just amazing.

    I love these effect modeling boards, My tube amp sits collecting dust after I got an rp500... The tones I get out of it were exactly what I have been looking for. The thing is versatile as hell

    I bought this pedal at Guitar Center about 3 years ago...Still running strong and it's just perfect. Honestly guys if you have a big selection of smaller pedals like i used to have, sale them on craigslist or ebay and buy this. It's just fuckin perfect. The only flaw that it has is they're no drum machine... But it's not really a big deal because you can Torrent some nice free ones or find some off of Google to DL. Keep on rockin guys.

  • @smacman68

    No problem. It's a firmware update, so make sure your use the X-edit software to back up all the patches or it will erase them all! It's very easy to do. I love mine!

    I owned/owned various amp,bognershiva,VHTpitpull,budda super and a 1971 fendervibrolux,and Im VERY pleased with the tone of the Rp500 ,it is meant to sound best through a poweramp/speaker ( so there is no coloration of the sound)imo.

    I thought the RP500 was a lot but wait til you look at the RP1000, I would cry if I had to operate that. MultiFX baffle me, I'm a single-effect guy.

  • @Wallu1991

    @g00b3rsVAN Yes, it's pretty much the same. The rp1000 has a few more effects and amp models, but they're very much the same. HOWEVER, the five additional switches make the use a lot easier and I wish I had paid the little extra to be able to switch the effects without switching between the preset and stompbox modes.

    Yeah and a decent amp. Digitech is great stuff regardless of what it's critics say. My RP350 has great sounds through my Twin, Classic 30, Blues Jr and Classic 20.

  • @TheAngello120
    @TheAngello120 13 лет назад

    @Wallu1991 You can still use the up-down buttons in stomp mode, this gives you more flexibility. I was going to rig a detachable extension to the patch sw. to turn it on and off but since finding out that bank up and down works in stomp mode I won't bother, just gang up the patches I use most in consec. locations. As the 1000 costs a £100 more for 5 buttons, way better .

  • @nicktshredz

    @Englishbobwv I think If you have modeled amp tones it'll be okay. I mean it will be as digital as amp modeling is. You can always play through the amp using it as a monitor and connect it USB to record.

  • @thefacelessmonster
    @thefacelessmonster 15 лет назад

    Yes, I think so... but they also make the RP 1000 which specifically has that function in mind.

  • @MaggaraMarine
    @MaggaraMarine 11 лет назад

    There are things I like about my pedal: USB out is a cool feature and I use it a lot for recording. Headphones out is also a good feature.
    But the amp models can't replace a real amp. They just sound too fake. And sometimes it's really hard to get rid of the harshness.
    FX models don't really sound that good - try real stompboxes and they sound a lot better. But yeah, they are what they are and give you a good picture of how the real thing sounds like. You get what you pay for - it's decent.

  • @YogiSizzle

    Yeah I'm playing through a PA at Church, so I think this would work fine, Im leaning towards the Boss ME70. They are both the same price but the boss seems a better deal with the looper and all

    mmmmm, the same i have read in many blogs. Maybe my decision should be for the vox tonelab, but im still impressed with the zoom g9 distortions, besides, im not a tech freak, i prefer knobs than those squeeke chewing gum buttons, so the tonelab would be ok. Big and intrincate effect chains are not my style, good sound is all for me. Again, i will make a little additional research and decide. But decision is almost taken, the VOX! (heard it at youtube and, wow, still the best).

  • @ImpThaW

    Around 1995 I bought a Digitech GSP 2101 awesome Sounding best I ever heard but It had a lack of memory like only 2 effects could be used with the Gigaverb & It quit working right & do Not know where to get It repaired. Then I got Digitech GNX 3000 but I did It lack Shimmer & I did Not think It Sound as good. Then I got a Delta Lab combine It with a few Danelectro & Behringer pedals & Its great. The other night EBay I bought a used Digitech RP500 for $175.00 I can't afford new stuff any more

    I'm sorry
    Perhaps a trip to the ear doctor is in order
    You know I am probabbly buying this Digitech to use in a loop since it has a global amp/cabinet shutoff, AND it has an intelligent pitch shifter that will harmonize in harmonic minor as well as the natural key
    I already own an RP-12 as well

    @boroslash its definatly gotta be the digitech rp 500, i had both, the me 70 was brilliant with assortments of different effects, however the digitech seemed to feel more alive and real rather than the me 70 wihich felt like a typical multi-effects pedal feels like, un-natural, dead and fizzy. The digitech rp500 is worth its money and feels so much more alive and the possiblilities are endless to create and contrrol YOUR sound which is what every guitarist ever wants.
    Reccomended :)

    Had this for a couple weeks to replace all the cluster f#%k of pedals I was using. The presets are just there to get you started..once you get in there and start tweaking the settings you can get some great sounds. The guy on this video (no offence)does not do this board justice. Will try and post a video response soon. But for under $300 this puppy rocks.

  • @antoniown

    well it depends on your amp because i tried it on my cousins cheap line 6 spider III 15w and it sounds horrible but my amp broke as soon as i bought it so i never heard it on the amp so i use it on my computer speakers :P sounded way better than on his amp

  • @MarkMezaMusic

    @denisgiann well I've never been a person that would give such a responsibility to an effects processor only, I think that there's nothing like having a really good amplifier to determine your tone, The amp sims, is only a plus in effects processors....

  • @jolosan321
    @jolosan321 15 лет назад

    ohhh but least you can still add more to it its like loads of effects in one for like 300+ dollars i can just get 3 pedals cause i just need dalay compressor and a reverb and it almost cost same price all in all so id rather get the rp 500

  • @YogiSizzle
    @YogiSizzle 15 лет назад

    I think this can be a great rig depending on your application. I'd never use this with my real rig, but I just started playing at a church and I can't bring my amp in, they run everything through DI boxes and a big mixer so I can't get of my analog tube sound anyway. I think I might buy one of these to leave at the church so I don't have to lug in my pedal board twice a week.

I have also heard the line 6 pod live xt, well, very good clean sounds (excellent modulators), but the main flaw, distortions arent as good as those in the zoom g9. The zoom g9, the opposite thing, very good distortions, top notch, but so so clean sounds. Next one, i will try a rocktron utopia, ill tell you how it was.

    I was looking at the RP1000 first, but sounds like the RP500 would work just fine. However, is it possible to use your amp's preamp distortions with this unit? I assume that in this case, you use the RP500 in the effects loop?
