I found one of these at a pawn shop a few months back. The owner had bought a bunch of equipment in a package deal. The processor was in its original box, but all faded and old looking. Out of curiosity I checked to see if it had a power supply. When I opened the box to my surprise it hadn't been used at all. Brand new you could say. Ever who owned it had never used it at all. So I quickly asked to owner what would be his bottom dollar. He looked at the box and said, "Oh about 40 bucks". "I'll take it ", I quickly replied. At checkout he opened it up and said, "This things brand new ". " Yeah, I know". I use the it from time to time and there's some patches I really like.
I'd love to know how the Delays in this compare to Digitech Digidelay. I also see from the manual that there's some kind of Wow&Flutter parameter in the tape delay of RP-355.
Dude you did a good video.....of a unboxing and really never touched on the interface and extended abilities when plugged into a computer ya it's old now but still can be very useful
The closing statement in this vid explains why my RP355 has, for the most part, sat idle since I bought it in '09-'10ish. As awesome as the tone & models are, it never 'endeared' itself to me. So, here over a decade later, I'm revisiting it to hopefully kindle some sort of relationship!
Yes it’s a strange phenomenon when you know a machine is technically great but it just doesn’t speak to your soul. I hope there’s more spark this time around :)
Great bro! Where can I get the POWER ADAPTOR for this machine!! I am in South Africa can't find the replacement on Amazon i bought a fake one couldn't last even a day
Hmm I'd visit an electronics store because I have a feeling the voltage is a little unusual on this one. I could be wrong but in any case, you could get a multi-voltage adapter from them (a great thing to own anyway) or if the voltage is tricky, they'll be able to set you up with the right thing with better quality that ebay power adapters (had similar experiences!)
There was a distortion on this pedal, somewhere in the presets between 20 and 30, called Greaser. Does anyone have any idea how I could mimic that distortion/tone, I miss it.
Look up the parameter settings online for that preset on digitech sites I now it's not hard to find and if you plug the pedal into a computer you can download patches
@@khotunkublai1373 Nah, I eventually figured it out. Was able to mimic the Greaser sound with a combination of a Boss blues driver, Revv distortion, a Walrus chorus pedal, an EHX Oceans reverb, and Flashback delay. It was expensive sound to recreate, but each pedal individually sounds fantastic, so it was worth it.
Im glad i found you i have a RP 350 i think its not much Different from this one 355.a friend of mine Give it to me & i dont have no Idea how to use it do you Think i can learn from this Video thanks 😊
Cool, I'm glad you liked the video. Just think of the words on the front panel as a list from top to bottom, with details of each item going left to right :) #gearfacts
Hey! Great video! Do you know if the rp355 is compatible with windows 10 nowadays in 2019? I'd like to unduste mine and start using it to record directly to the PC. Thanks!
@@gearfactsI have the rp360 and it doesn't have the flexibility to go into stomp mode on the fly like the rp355 does which is very handy when gigging. Also unable to select a boost for lead like the rp355 also needed when gigging. The looper on the rp355 is also easier to use than the 360. I am looking to swap to the rp355 for gigging.
I have both and while I think the 355 is improvement and a bit punchier, the distortion sounds (using the amp models mostly) are better, deeper and crisp. Stompbox mode is nice, but my favorite thing to do is assign the delay repeats to the expression pedal and create a live fade in fade out looping effect 😎
@@gearfacts For the money get a Zoom G3Xn. Can't go wrong. If you want to spend a little more money. Line 6 Helix. If you don't want to spend that kind of money for a Helix, which is about $1600, you could go for a used Line 6 pod, in which you can find around $500. But for $ 200 new you can't go wrong with the G3Xn.
@@douglascasey3486 mmmm well, NUX has some extremely compelling contenders that can't be ignored. I recently reviewed the MG300 which was pretty mind-blowing I thought. Then there are the classics like the Boss GT6 selling for well under $200 and it richly out-performs the G3xn to my ears. The Zoom does have the recording interface though, and its physical styling is very easy on the eyes. And the helix is indeed a thing of beauty!
Lots of decent sounding multi effects processors for not a lot of cash especially secondhand, Zoom G3N/G3XN, NUX MG300, MG30, MG400, Flamma FX100, FX200, VALETON GP100, GP200, GP200LT, Line 6 Pod, FX100, M5, M9, M13. That’s just a few, there’s loads of great units now at not a lot of money
I got one when they first came out. It was awesome for both the studio and live. I even featured it in a Frippertronics video. ruclips.net/video/NhhvneRblmg/видео.html I then really went crazy on discrete pedals for a while. Sold them all off AND the RP355 about 4 years ago. Last week I started looking at new multi-effects, and decided I would just get another RP-355! Should arrive tomorrow :D
I can see why. It's got a super-clean, slick sound that works well for anything. My only gripe was that it was overall a little bit too conservative, but I respect that most guitar players have a little more class than I do! :) #gearfacts
@@gearfacts Well, believe me I'm not "conservative", but right now a used RP355 fits my budget perfectly and provides a lot of functionality. I used to have a lot of fun with the Digitech RP12 which let you do interesting things like assign multiple effects to the foot pedal simultaneously, like wah and whammy.
It seems like no matter what tone you dial in if it has distortion ALL of the settings have this weird crackle in the high end.. a cheap sounding crackle no matter what settings/amps/cabs/distortion you use it all sounds the same in the high end
@@gearfacts Either that or all of the distortion is based off of the same source I dunno there's a certain tinny like cheap sounding frequency I cant get rid of in the high end.. makes it sound like my setup I had in highschool lol
@@Minty.Fresh.Tunes. I have the same issues. Spent days on it, watching youtube etc... @Gearfacts Thanks for this direct recording so I can compare the sound with my setup. The end of the Foxy 43 demo at 9:10 demonstrated that static like sounds the best. I think its just clipping sound? as I don't have tube amps etc,...is that clipping sounds normal even on real amps? I think tube amp do a better job of Soft clipping from what I read. The way RP355 clips just sound harsh, especially when you go for that edge of breakup tone, The presets on RP355 seems to hid that noise pretty well except on Foxy 43. What's the tip? Thanks ahead!
@@raymondtong2640 Iam hearing what you are hearing too. There are a few things I would try before giving up. First try outputting the unit to the fx loop if your amp to bypass any pre amp clipping. Also turn off any cabinet simulations if you are using a real cabinet. Maybe try turning off the built in gates, and use your own noise gate if you still need it. Sometimes cheap noise gate can fizzle out at the top. Lastly, possibly try using your own drive pedal to push the tones here and reduce the gain on the patches. Maybe you just need more headroom for the breakup to round out, while keeping the eq curves of the preset patches
What the f*** is wrong with the digitech RP355? We hear samples of the factory presets. Like them or not, but they can easily be edited and renamed to personal taste. Also one should appreciate the easy, well visualized editing process. I´ve made tweaks between songs easy peasy, making it a capable live performance pedal. Also I can record via USB cable directly into my DAW (why are you therefore running sound out of the headphone output?) and there is also software to adjust, programm and store the sounds on PC screen. So "Mr Gear Facts" = many FACTS were not mentioned. This is far from a holistic evaluation.
