My best guess is that bards exist as meat shields, getting hit by stray arrows instead of you. Because enemies prioritizing shutting up the bard seems like the sort of thing this game would go for.
As well as a believable prioritization system for actual archers, because screw those lute-strumming ballbags.
I think bards would probably spit some sick bars in a rockstar game though

Glad you liked it. I was a kickstarter of it and I liked the idea ( and the british humor that dont always translate to ...those across the pond) . The final product was niche....but thats what I kickstarted you know?
That's how the original early GTA games were.
After Rockstar made RDR2, I have always hoped/wanted someday for them to make a fantasy game with their particular style and attention to detail.
Maybe someday... we can always hope and dream at least.

A game I'd like you to try is called dead state, it came out in 2014 in the height of the zombie game height, but never really reached the height of some of its peers, which is a shame as its a rather good game, can warmly recommend :).

I got a laugh from the homicide chalk outlines of the man and the horse. but now that you mention monty python I suspect it was from that.

I bought this game in April, it's frickin' hilarious! It gave me GTA2 vibes (obvs), the live intro was completely unexpected and fantastic! Great game if you want a good laugh...those police horses 🤣

I feel like Punch Club 1 and 2 would be right up your alley for indie weird games. Basically if you every wanted to play as cheesy 80's fighter protagonist with almost everyone form of movie and cartoon scenario thrown in for good measure plus no pesky VO in true indie fashion. Congrats on 100k well deserved although it should be 1M.
Pimp my horse 🐴 is a legit aspect of the game lol Damn those police sure are quick on getting to the scene. I love how ur able to get rid of the cops by pimping ur horse lol the sarcasm approach & gameplay mechanics are perfect for "when u want to play a video game"

This is an old game already. It was released in 2021 and it is easy to get this for only 25% of original price on Steam during sales.

Haha, definitely a fun concept as a game. A pity so much of it was almost 1-for-1 reskin of other stuff. Definitely worth keeping an eye out for the team's next release tho.

Seeing this makes me wonder what Rockstar would make if they had the rights to make a D&D game.
They haven't gone down the medieval fantasy theme yet I believe! If anything, it would be more realistically-themed like their GTA and Red Dead. Either way I would love a Rockstar D&D or Medieval game.

GTA had an MMORPG called Multi Theft Auto CIT2 server, and yes it was amazing. Rockstar actually took a TON of ideas from that fdan made mod for GTA online. They monetized tf out of those ideas. . . but they took them from us, the community.
The bards are, I believe, Rustler's equivalent to a car radio in GTA

I think I watched Kevin play this a year ago. He never doesn't do 2nd videos on indies. This is an interesting format... With your voice you could kill it in History/informative documentarys fyi. As a fuy who is subbed to a lot of them i think i can make this opinion comfortably.

This reminds me of classic gta, the one before vice city.
You should check it their next game "Cowboys and Rustlers", it makes this look take.
This goes down to £2.49 seemingly a week out of every 5/6 on Switch too so even with its jank is well worth it.

I played Dragon ball online after watching your video. Very fun game, but it crashes after you get the flying skill. And fly around for more then a minute.

I like Rustler and had a great time. What sour the experience for me is the controls in Switch.
Last time I saw such a… comedic attempt to the medieval setting was maybe The Bards Tale ARPG from 2004…

This game missed the one ingredient that made GTA2 truly a masterpiece, which was it's rather fun multiplayer, which at it's time of release was unplayable without the newest network cards, but later in the internet days made the game become a retro classic
It's on sale for £5 now too, immediate buy
