Check out my look into Mortal Online 2 here: • Mortal Online 2 is Tra...
I remember going into my brother's save file and having his hero eat a butt load of crunchy chicks, beat up villagers, marry someone and then sacrifice her to Skorm. When he played a few days later, his once glowing blue eyed hero was a fat, balding, murderous, divorced demon with flies buzzing around him. He grew to like him.
That’s a great story 😂
all worked out in the end
@@t2av159 except for the ex wife
Did he get the bow at least?
@@Wellllllllalalala yeah, after about 2 weeks of trying.
Honestly never knew people was disappointed with Fable. I was 13 when it came out and it was one of the best games ever. At the time all I played was this, Jade Empire(still want another or remake!), Rune, Ultima Online and Delta Force 2 (last 3 was my pc games on dail up!)
Same, I didn't follow game dev back then, it was just a fun game for me back then.
@@starfreek101 Same! They sold me on the being able to kick chickens lol. Also I thought the whole real estate system was awesome!
We were the same age when it came out! The thing about the game is that Peter Molyneux, as he tends to do, promised *the world* from this game. He’s got a history of doing that. The game is fun, it just wasn’t what people were sold, if that makes sense
Some of the best music in a game. Personally still listen to the tunes to this day.
Ha, I still remember playing age of empires 2 with friends on dial up. It was so rediculously laggy. It also sucked playing a two hour game only for them to get disconnected if anyone called. Great memories.
One of my fav games. I guess I was lucky since I didn't find out about Fable until over a year after it launched. Having never heard any of the overhype about it, I was able to take it at face value with no disappointments. I still load it up now and then to play it again for funzies :)
Same, but unfortunately enjoying it led to me watching the development of the sequels, and hearing the new promises…
Same, but I arrived late for even the sequels
"Chicken chaser, do you chase chickens?"
Yup, was pre internet time for me, got it on CD by recommendation of a friend. Absolutely enjoyed it. Actually this is the first time I hear about this overhype by Mollineux. My only review source back then were PC gaming magazines and the one I read usually only made tests of finished products. Got good reviews there too, so I`m really surprised xD. Maybe a good prove, that hyping can do more harm than good sometimes. I mean Vampires Bloodline f. ex was brilliant. Once you get it to actually run by patching. I bet if it came out today in the way it did back then, it would get roasted into oblivion and no one would remember it as one of the best RPGs ever to be made. Times really changed, jeez...
Yeah exactly....the game is great, unsure why the goofy clickbait title....it still stands out as one of the better RPG games. So it would still be something to play to take seriously.
Sadly anymore people just want to talk shit about literally everything..this game still has more features than most anything that comes out.
Was it what we were promised? No. Was it a beautiful mess that will forever hold a place in my heart? Yes. Absolutely and unequivocally yes!!
The morale system ist a Joke but i still Love IT.
I never knew there was so much controversy with the game. I always loved it. I LOVE this kind of chunky cartoon artstyle and its humor and high fantasy made it a joy to play. One of the first insults the townspeople start calling you is chicken chaser. I Was like wtf why is everyone calling me that. Took me awhile to figure out that I could change what they called me based on what I did.
It was a good game, the problem was that they promised it would be far more. Always the problem with setting an Audience expectations too high, thay can only see what isn't there.
Petor Moleman was notorious for "design-by-interview". Just making stuff up on the spot when talking to the media.
I was like 10 years old, asked my mom to get me this for Christmas. My best friend also got it. We would meet and talk about the game. One of the most memorable Christmas ever. This game is magical.
The humor really elevated this series, for me. It felt silly but you got the sense that the people making it were quick and smart. Little things like item descriptions suddenly felt like whole mechanics.
I can't remember when I first started playing Fable but I do remember being fully enthralled by it, even to this day. Fable 2 has to my favorite in the series. Fantastic story and probably the best gameplay in my opinion.
And the dog don't forget him.
I adore fable. It was the first game I got to sit down and play entirely on my own at my own pace, and it remains one of my favourite gaming experiences to date. Surpassed only by a few. And that SOUNDTRACK.
danny elfman ftw. one of his best works.
@@adamsvette elfman only did the main theme. Russel Shaw composed the soundtrack
I never heard of it till it launched so wasn't disappointed. One of my favorite games back in the day.
YOU CAN FLING THE TROLL ROCKS BACK AT THEM?!
I've played through Fable probably 6 times at this point, I had no idea you could swat the rocks back at the trolls.
:O it was always my main mechanic to beat them xD
@@davidnunes7908 I would just roll in, fight them, and roll out. And then roll dodge the rocks
@@KindaJewish Hitting them back is the best way to defeat the two rock trolls in the arena. Just requires patience, but it's super safe.
@@KindaJewish SAME
@@davidnunes7908 i just used multi strike, hit them until they telegraphed the ground smash, snd rolled away. Rinse repeat.
That introduction was legendary: "Well, I am convinced - Peter should be knighted!"
This video was a very good overview for one of my favourite RPGs! It's a shame that it never got to live up to Peter's claims but I feel like it stands on its own two feet, it just needed a bit more time to be fleshed out to refine what the game already excels in!
One of my favs. To play a character from childhood to old age, being a hero in a mysterious land. A true adventure game. I am still waiting for someone to make a new game that can capture the special feeling of this game.
Your taste in Jokes, your witty comedy, paired With the lucid explanation and takes on the Topic, makes every video to an enjoying, wonderful Journey. Thanks for making me laugh TEARS at 09:50
Despite all the shortcomings , this game was amazing . Goes to show game devs of all eras promise more than can be delivered .
Yeah. It seems they incorporated most of what they wanted in one game over all of them. Weird
But seriously Peter just can’t stop over promising and under delivering like I love fable but one look at his history on the subject of over promising is enough to stay away from anything he says lol
@@benlasky9414 Weird I just see this because I think I replied to the wrong comment 2 months ago because I have no idea why I'd reply that here. You're right though. My original comment was trying to say if he incorporated everything from all games into one game it would've been epic.
Anytime I hear the aoundtrack, it takes me back in a wild way where my only problems in this world were the Jack of Hearts and unlocking all the Demon Doors
As much as I enjoy the Fable, I am glad that they made/released Lost Chapters, simply because there was so much more content. especially the extended ending. The original last fight was good, and challenging, but not epic. The Dragon boss fight, while oddly easier, still felt bigger and more epic. Not to mention all the additional side quests.
The soundtrack to this game always gets me. It's brilliant
It had a class system based on actions and gear.
Warrior,(evil)knight(good) archer,witch-hunter and etc.
Peter Molyneux... What a character, but he did make some great games along the way. Loved Fable (and Black & White too, until a Windows XP update broke it) and spent a long time trotting around Albion. Good times!
First time I ever heard about Fable was when I saw it being played over a friend's shoulder. I then proceeded to play it to completion 19 times... I have fond memories of getting that combat multiplier "EVEN HIGHER" on the skeleton run and then maxing out every skill. Good times
Yeah I abused the crap out of the AI, teleport and respawns and got to 250 and finally got bored (during rescue Scarlett Briar there is infinite mob undead respawns, slow time is so overpowered lol).
Still so much fun to abuse the AI endlessly.
Same! Also trying to figure out the Demon Doors with my friends. Since Google was not a thing yet lol.
Okay but the STORY was AMAZING! Completely non predictable! I've replayed a million times and each time have a different experience.
That fly in the mouth-moment killed me. The realization that you took the time to edit that in, made me laugh a second time.
This game was so good. Had so much fun going back to towns after finishing the story as the hero and killing everyone.
I used to butcher everyone in Oakvale whenever my karma was getting too high.
Fable was amazing and one of the best RPGs. Been meaning to replay them all. Really not that goofy
I remember reading about Fable being developed as a kid and never thinking for a second that the promises wouldn't be true. Things have changed so much since then...
"Country roads ..."
I think my favourite part of Fable is that despite having goofiness it all felt cohesive, like a world that made sense and didn't feel detached from itself randomly.
Peter desperately needed to learn to say “I want this game to…”, “I hope we can…”, and “We’re working with the possibility of…”.
Fable was one of my favorites and my first real intro to rpg gaming. Fable 2 was epic and 3 was good but the experience of your first fable play through was amazing
That fart on the kid had me dying laughing 🤣. For me the humor and the dark story makes it the best out of the trilogy. Also excellent music i hope the reboot nails these.
Reboot? I’m so happy I waited on buying the original. Hahah. Thanks.
It is the best
@@Red_Eyed We don't really know if it's a reboot or if it's a Fable 4 really. They are being rather hush hush.
I thought it was confirmed to be fable 4?
Okay, but the whole acorn thing, I think, could have actually been implemented- and relatively simply.
Basically: Make a spot in the world TO plant an acorn, and once the player does then it accrues a “growth point” after each quest is completed in the game; and after X amount of ‘points’ are accrued (behind the scenes) the acorn/trees grows into a new stage of its development.
Naturally, one potential drawback is that you may not be able to see the acorn grow fully if you plant the acorn too late in your playthrough (since there wouldn’t be any more quests to complete after a certain point, depending on if you’re playing The Lost Chapters or not).
You COULD tie the acorn to the clock, much like how the crime fine system is, and thus allowing a player to see the full growth. But then the progress of said growth would most likely be exponentially slower and players may give up on waiting for the growth before it’s finished.
The game was missing some of the big features Peter talked about, but it did have neat little aspects that you just didn't see at the time. If you ran into a man carrying a box, it would destroy the box and have an effect on item availability in shops.
I loved this game growing up! Especially loved talking to the Twaders with with the mustache and appeasing the door that wants me to get fat so I can enter 🤣
Great video my friend it really brightened up my day! 😄
Just found you today, must say, fantastic content watched 5 videos including a Starwars comedy movie which was just perfect, and can't believe you don't have like 1 mil subs.
Thanks mate. Appreciate that.
The line “Jesus! That escalated fast!” absolutely finished me.
So many promises for Fable that never happened. I still love it. I playing Fable when it came out and loving it and buying Lost Chapters when it came out and loving it even more. Though I do wish all the stuff that was promised did come out.
“A narrator kind enough to staple the microphone directly to his face.” I cried 😂
I remember loving this game as a kid, with one exception. The fact that it had things you HAD TO DO in the MQ. The concept was to be who you want to be, and you still find yourself locked in to a pre-written story. That still bugs me in games to this day, so whenever i play an open world game like Skyrim I fondly think back to playing Fable and being annoyed with that limitation for the very first time. It's a cute little game!
See i hate open world haha. No structure, i just end up wondering around. LOVE ELDER SCROLLS SERIES THOUGH.
@@MrCreed145 I love open world games, what I most want in a game is to get lost in a fantastical world. Just camping out in the wild, treking for days through dense woodland or coming across a forgotten ruin. I hate it when games ruin this with fast travel and map markers. To me the whole charm of playing a game is to actually be in another world. Dress for the weather, eat to not starve. That's when I'm having a great time.
I never heard of the multiplayer side being promised, but I do remember all the hype about how open the world was, and how your choices were responsible for how that world evolved.
I also remember realizing that it was mostly a bunch of lies, but I DON'T remember being all that mad about it. I had fun with the game regardless, and played it through a couple of times.
14 year old me was so stoked that I didn’t even notice how overblown the hype was.
It was a fantastic game, still love it. It was very unique for its time and in many ways still is.
It’s not what Was promised, but I still think it’s one of the best RPG series ever made.
Even the sequels are decent in their own right
I can't tell what's funnier about this video. The editing, the David Attenborough style commentary or just how good bad this game is. Whichever it us, I've subbed through laughter induced tears.
His other videos are amazing
I got my hands on this game without knowing anything about it, and it was my favorite game ever since, you could say it defined my childhood. I had no idea about the promises Molyneux supposedly gave, I just didn't think the game could've been any better than it already was. It was truly magical.
Even with all the missing features, Fable was still one of the best times I've had in an RPG.
I'm playing the entire series for the first time, I finished 1 and just started fable 2 yesterday and it's been fucking fantastic. Honestly, sometimes it's better to wait for a game to age, like a fine wine.
As a kid, not knowing English language that well I picked Arseface as my title because it looked like Artificer and that sounded cool.
The game was fun enough, but when you promise big the expectations follow. For 2004, if people didn't know what they "thought" they were missing, the game would have stood on it's merits just fine.
You are amazing! I am so happy to have discovered your channel.
This video took me down nostalgia lane wow! Thanks!
One of the comfiest game environments ever, the music and towns are so relaxing. I still play TLC on Steam from time to time
i remember fable. i have some nice memories of playing it! luckily, around the time i did play it i was a completely unaware child who knew nothing of the promises that wr made that never made it into the game XD
The Hero Save function is broken if you want to cheese it. Once you get to the arena, if you hero save right before the last phase and keep reloading, you can basically grind your way to max stats pretty quickly. There's also the one quest early on with a key right in the first area, so you can hero-save scum your way up to the max 20 keys and open every chest you ever come across as soon as you get to it.
Peter often announced features that had never even been discussed with the dev team. He basically announced his design ideals as if they were a done deal, when they were really just a "wouldn't it be cool if..." design idea.
This video brought me on a nostalgia trip thank you! And that outro music sealed the deal.
Fable series is a rare gem that needs to be remastered with the latest graphics and updated with some quality life additions and bigger maps, etc, but keep true to the original fables which in my opinion Fable series is one of the best RPG ever made...
I lied to my aunt to get this game as a kid haha. I didn't know about all the fake promises at the time, but gosh darn was this game fun.
I think that over time we've all dealt with plenty of games where the dev's promised things that they never delivered, and a disappointed playerbase was the result. But I think Fable defined the genre, if you could call it that.
Peter Molyneux is pretty notorious for overhyping his games. If I'm not mistaken, this sort of thing has happened on _literally every series_ that he has been a part of, though the Fable case was the most egregious.
Oh man, that part where Peter Molyneux talks about the co-op (Or the lie of it, rather), he is interviewed by Giga-Games, one of the earliest televised groups in Germany that covered video games, the two next to him specifically being the Console guys. I even recall it aired from 10pm to 12am, and caused em many school mornings of being tired after sneaking to watch those guys. Childhood legends
He might have been so old that he considered playing on multiple consoles and TV’s while sat next to your friends as “co-op” or he’s a pathological liar. Not sure which.
@@dscvered Well, he has stated hating chickens because his first words were Clucking noises from being raised on a farm. He seems like a mroe Tragic Hideo Kojima. Kojima had so many plans, dreams and ideas. From CDs smelling like blood if they get warm, new systems not even modern, current cutting edge AI could handle, but found a way to do the best with his dreams.
And Molyneux..he just lied about what he WISHED was within his games, what dreams he wanted to have about it, instead of accepting what was possible or not.
Just happened upon your Mortal Online 2 video (a game I'd never heard of) and it was a fantastic watch! I'm excited to watch this newest video considering how much I enjoyed that one, in addition to the fact that Fable is definetly one of my favorite RPGs ever since I was a kid sharing the xbox with my brother. Our playstyles were complete opposites, mine paragon and his utterly evil, ha.
Despite all the controversy around the game its stood the test of time against many western RPGs as being the game that not only set the standard but literally defined almost every western rpg afterwards. You would in fact find that this game's gameplay and systems all became precursors for many other game's systems, heck even the Witcher 3 Wild Hunt uses so many elements from Fable that its uncanny to think that the games have a 13 year gap between them.
I love the Fable series, I still own the Game Informer Fable 1 Magazine where they had so much concept art and hype up stuff that never made it in the game but it still was cool to see retro behind the scene artwork like an ape outfit or such that some eventually got turn into dlc for the Anniversary remake.
Every upload makes me so grateful that I stumbled onto your channel. Incredible as always, thanks for the laughs!
Love the video, also some common misinformation I always hear, some of the promised features was in development but scrapped due to the Xbox not being powerful enough, Multiplayer was scrapped way late in the game that the assets are still in the game’s code, and other assets too, another fun fact, Fable Anniversary was out sourced and began working on an older version, so Fable Anniversary has more unused assets in it’s game files than the PC release of TLC
fable is one of the greatest games ever made. I never knew all that stuff about the hype since I was too young to really follow video game news. All I knew is that my dad bought me this game and it was sick af.
Is there any game other game like that? Where your choices have effects on the hero physical attribute, getting fat, or build like a bodybuilder, evil look, or angel look,...
Is there any game where you start as a child and grow up...
I don't think so, I never heard of any other game that reached that level... And we are in 2022... Amazing.
The hype around this game was insane. This was at a time when video game magazine subscriptions were still a thing and I remember waiting every month for more screenshots and details, still playing Morrowind to get my RPG fix and bide time. There were a lot of unfulfilled promises, but to me it was still fascinating to see your character change over time, become grotesque or heavenly, become fat or muscular, and to watch his hair and beard grow. Those features were groundbreaking at the time, and those are mechanics we still hold dear today in games like RDR2.
The music in this game is great. I still listen to "summer fields" from time to time.
Tragedy + Time = COMEDY!
You make even the worst-sounding games seem like such fun! Well, you, and that haunted child.
But this actually looks genuinely fun if one doesn't go in looking for something more epic and well-balanced in that Good-Ass RPG-way. It comes across almost like a parody game, at which it seems to be pretty spot-on. This game IS an MST3K-ing of an epic fantasy game--unintentionally, but therein might lie the genius.
Though, I think it might lose some of the hilarity with mouth-breathing narrator, as opposed to you narrating.
Some unasked-for career advice: GET INTO V.O. WORK! PLEASE! Live MY DREAM so I don't have to nut up or shut up! And also--DIE, WIZARD! DIE, MAGICAL BASTARD!
The best thing to come from Fable was the people reviewing it in hilarious ways.
It was an absolute master piece for it's time and generation!
I can honestly say this was one of the first video game I ever played on the OG Xbox other than halo two, which came with the Xbox. It was such a fun and fascinating experience for my first RPG. I still couldn’t believe the amount of things I was allowed to do in that game. Wild Knights of the old republic. Will probably go down as my favorite RPG of all time. Fable is a very close second.
8:45 this (wonderful) edited scene makes me think of the scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark where the evil French dude has a big fly go right into his mouth. It's when Indi is pointing an RPG at the Germans carrying the Ark and is threatening to destroy it. Don't believe me? Look it up!
Combining spells was fun as hell too… I remember busting out full blown lighting tornados and marvelling at my remarkable prowess.
Fable may not have lived up to the hype, but it did start a series that I’ve adored for years. I’m only sad I no longer have a way to play Fable 2 and 3 since my Xbox 360 broke.
Fable 2 has my all time favorite bit of loading screen text: "Shortly after Jack of Blades was slain by a Hero, the Guildmaster was rumored to be killed by that same Hero. The words "Your health is low" were etched into his forehead."
I'm pretty sure I pulled something from laughing so hard after reading that for the first time.
Me reading the initial claims about the game: "Oh, they sound like something Peter Molineux would say"
Video shows Peter Molineux as being the director: "AH! It makes sense now."
I want Fable 2 and 3 on PC... I mean, come on Microsoft... WTF.
I actually played Fable for the first time in years not that long ago. It's still fun. It's always been fun. It's just not what at all what it was trying to be. It's ultimately very shallow. And hollow. But it's an enjoyable experience still, as long as you know what you're getting, and take it for what it is. If it had been sold as a generic 3rd person ARPG with some very superficial aging elements from the start, I think a lot more people would've loved it.
And it has one of the weirdest bugs I've ever encountered: if you're using an external sound card, the game crashes on launch. As soon as you redirect sound elsewhere, like in my case to my external DAC+headphone amp, it works fine. How they managed that is just beyond me.
One of the best games of 2000s I played this in 2006 I think, I wasn't keeping up with news or anything, back then we were exchanging CD's with games with friends and school buddies.
Ah anything with that liar Peter was doomed to fail.
Fable will forever be one of my favorite series of games ever right next to mass effect
Froggy always liked the spooky parts in this game and never ever did harm to others... except kicking the chickens and the guards 😀 btw there was a kind of a secret quest in one those citys where you can marry the lady/princess if i remember correctly
Lady Grey. You can marry her in fable 2 as well, all though she's quite different in that one lol.
fable and fable the lost chapters are still 1 of my fav games ever ..... all hail arse face
I was a bit on the young side to be following Peter around doing his interviews, so I never got exposed to the overhype lol. But I remember my Halo CE having the trailer for Fable on it and watching that dozens of times. Then I sorta forgot about it until I got invited to a Halo LAN party by my friend, 5 years older than me, that he was hosting and one of his other friends had the game and I just watched him play for like 30 minutes and I was so enthralled by the gameplay that I traded in a bunch of games I had sitting around to buy a copy from EB Games the next day.
I actually really like the style of the Anniversary edition. And I loved the new AoE spells added with TLC. The only thing I didn't really like about the TLC/Anniversary edition was that they totally nerfed how much damage the Sword of Aeons did so that it wasn't even the strongest weapon in the game anymore. It's not even really that it was nerfed... but the fact that other random weapons were now stronger than this endgame weapon.
Loved the first one. Played it and Lost Chapters edition on Xbox and PC multiple times. Being good has a rewarding feel but being evil is an easier path at being powerful. Fun to jump on and evil ur way through a couple hours to get decent gear.
I played through the original a few times back when I played a lot more.
I got the anniversary edition awhile back, played a little bit and really haven't touched it in a long while.
Just can't seem to get into rpgs like I used to.
Great upload, and thank you. It's nice to relieve a great game.
The year was 2000, I was 5 years old. This was the first game i ever played, probably shouldn't have played it, but I did. Never looked back, this is by far STILL my FAVOURITE game.
This was a really hard game for me to get in as I was 7-8 years old when it came out - but the rpg aspect and the good/evil mechanic caught my eye since I was familiar with the Knights of the Old Republic light/dark side mechanic. Check out SpiffingBrits video of Fable it’s great
Luckily back then I didnt have time to soak up the hype as it felt we had one epic released every month. Bloody loved this game.
I played this game entirely too much as a kid. Legitimately beat it like a thousand times. It was so much fun despite being so easy that I did challenge runs. Like Don't get hit, never level up, no scars run, beat it using only a stick and so on.
I was 20 in 2004 and i knew Peter was a mad man.. great video brought tears to my eyes 🥲.
I liked this game fine when I was a kid, but I had already played very rich and smartly detailed games like Stygian Abyss so I recognized very quickly that I had been given buckets of false promises from the marketing lol
I remember reading a preview article in an issue of Edge gaming magazine, and getting rather excited until I realised most of the mechanics would be rather hard to pull off on a console with limited save file storage.
I was rather blown away with how the endgame missed most the promises - still enjoyed te game though.
Me and my friend played this game so much over the summer years… still remember going back and forth between our houses playing it…. The good ol days
You should do a top 10 list in the future on the Best and the Worst mmo's of all time
P.S you have a good narrator voice
I loved this game; never saw a single ad for it either, just found it while rooting around for something to play on the 360, stumbled on this gem.
I was able to enjoy Fable because I was a dumb kid who got his brother’s friend’s Xbox when he went to collage and knew nothing of gaming outside of Mario and Rush 2049. So this game was a blast for me back then and I ended up playing the Anniversary last year . It was fun
Back in the day, I had such a blast playing this game....
curious if you where playing the original or the lost chapters version, been years since i played ether but the extra end game content had extra armor sets and such, honestly worth the play through if you enjoyed the original
I played this without knowing anything about the Molyneux hype train, and I loved it for what it was, might be one of my most played games besides Morrowind.
It's broken AF, you can get master weapons like an hour into the game (buying and selling food to start, move to gifts like perfume, and then gems once you get to Oakvale) get Skorm's bow and several other legendaries a few hours in, have several OP spells ridiculously early (slow time, multi strike and multi arrow)....
But lord I had so much fun with it, and I still do, it's such a goofy, busted, yet rewarding game.
I must have played it at least five times during the original, and another ten once the Lost Chapters came out (even if the final fight is a scaled up repeat of the original endgame).
Ah, Molyneux, why couldn't you have just kept your trap shut? It would have been better recieved, not that 2 and 3 weren't great games too, but none has that nostalgia kick that the first does.
I remember RENTING an Xbox classic on several occasions, just to play this, Halo, and a couple other games.
Remember when you could rent a console from a video and game rental store? Man, talk about times that are long gone. RIP blockbuster and video Ezy.
I was only six when it came out, and since my dad didn't want me to play his rated M games (wonder why) I had to sneak down at night to play this. So I just remember how good the game was and never heard any of the broken promises so I came in completely blind to this game and just played a game that now holds a lot of nostalgia for me
10:20 did not expect to see Giga Games here :D glorious times. Fable was my absolute favorite game back then on the xbox. (along side Star Wars: Kotor for obvious reasons)
I really admire Fable's stylized art style, which seems to have been a popular approach at the time, with games such as WoW also having a similar art approach. It's a shame that many games in the genre tend to shy away from that in favor of hyper-realistic, eye-melting "realism" (which just boils down to lots of bloom and visual glitches). I probably would have appreciated Skyrim a lot more if it had a much more toon-ish art style to it.
