They're fighting the good fight, for real. They fixed a good chunk of the gaps between terrain you can fall through and made fishing actually work. Solid devs and will support whatever they do from here on.
That is actually a shocking fantastic Jack Sparrow impersonation. It probably would have taken me a very long time to realize that it wasn't Johnny Depp voicing him.
This game was great, and I was happy to see that Sea of Thieves did a collab with Pirates as it gave me the warm fuzzies back to this game. Unfortunate that a lot of modern MMO's don't understand the magic involved with that.

This game was amazing back in the day. The ship combat was so fun and the weapons were really awesome and varied. The fishing mini game is to this day still my favourite of any game.

Thank you for covering this! Pirates Online was an integral part of my childhood and I had no idea it was revived like this! Thanks for not only drawing this to my attention but also for introducing this to a wider audience, see you all out there!
For anyone watching there is a decent amount of end-game content to do in this game (both original and added by tlopo). It is quite a grind to get there tho. Playing with a guild and doing random stuff is really fun though! I come back to this game every few months, hopefully i see some of you on the seas :)
It's nice to see that so many MMOs have returned from the grave in the wake of their eventual closure. Seeing you play this and Warhammer: Age of Reckoning in an earlier episode was greatly enjoyable. I've debated about checking this game out long ago before it closed, since there's not a whole lot of Age-Of-Sail style games and RPGs out there, and sometimes I just get that itch to be a pirate that needs scratched.
I remember playing this back sometime between 2007 and 2009. Little fuzzy on exactly when, but I was just a boy back then. For me, it's like baby's first MMORPG. The nostalgia from playing the remake is absolutely cathartic, especially since now I can actually progress more in the game than I ever could. The original POTCO had this dumb subscription system and no stores around me ever sold the little gift card things, so the furthest I ever got was somewhere around getting the voodoo doll. I only wish there weren't a max of like 300 people online when I get on the game, I remember Port Royal being filled with dozens of players each either killing NPC's, chatting, helping newbies... now I'll see another player maybe once every 30min and most of the time it's just a brief encounter going opposite directions. Huge thanks to the team behind TLOPO for bringing my childhood back within reach. Also, let's be very clear: I chose this game over Skull and Bones, Sea of Thieves, and even replaying Black Flag. Loving it!

I remember, as a kid, getting in with a ship crew that were much more experienced than I in the game. I felt so lucky that each time we went out on the sea I was getting so much experience and money. It was a little moment of childhood MMO magic that I remember being so excited about. I had similar feelings when I would find friends in Toon Town as well.
I played the original game back in 2007 and it was crazy that they shut it down. The Legends of Pirates Online is a testament to how passionate the fanbase is, to the point where the community rebuilt the game back up again and released it for FREE. It's still one of the best pirate games ever made. With the remake a lot of the bugs have been removed and also new features have been added by the moderators, it's great to see. The game is a lot of fun and pretty hilarious at times. I have to agree that the land-based content can seem a pretty grindy, but if you play with other people, it's a lot more engaging. Especially if you have a busy servers and most people are out at sea engaging in ship combat, it's insane and awesome how crazy it can get. lol. Great times for sure. The player numbers have never really been super high, it's really more of a fan project for the passionate fans of the original game, but if you can get a group of people to play with, it can still be a lot of fun. 💪
Something was really unique and captivating about this game. Was it because I was a kid? Was it just one of those games that simply stood out? Yes yet how does one replicate these experiences... ?
I think the coolest part of playing in its prime was the Jolly Roger Invasions. When the sky would turn green and creepy music starts to play as the announcement of Jolly Rogers coming in 30 minutes was so rad! And the peak was seeing SO MANY people in one place, all lining the way up to Elizabeth's Manor to defend it from the undead army! It was one of the coolest experiences I've had in any game really! Glad to see you gave it some spotlight and so excited to try out the rewritten version of it!

This, Neopets (and the 30 other clones Gopets, etc), Toon Town Online, Puzzle Pirates, Roblox and Millsberry Online were my literal Childhood. Probably some other older ones too like Newgrounds, Torn City, Alien Adoption, Die2nite etc. Oooo and Adventure Quest, Mech Quest and the other spin offs lol. Also OG Runescape lol No wonder I love Sea of Thieves now :)
As a long time player, I appreciate that you took the time to actually properly experience the game before starting your review! The game devs put a lot of effort in, and the community loves them for it!
Any random addition of Donnie Thornberry screaming as a sound effect to something in the video will result in confusion (a possible rewind) followed by a fit of laughter. Thanks I needed that 🤣.
Captain Bicard iandcoke is a right character, has some crazy agility right there, and orders a water?! 😂 Elizabeth is a bit... creepy haha! So many parts of this video made me LOL, a classic, quality MitchManix video, absolutely love it! ❤ Will keep an eye on this game for sure
Mitch, may I recommend you try out an old classic that was a hit in South America: Tibia. It's a classic old MMO from the late 90s that is STILL holding strong somehow.
my favourite part of this game was fishing for the legendary beasts. i was obsessed with atlantis at the time, so there was something magical about the deep dark sea and the possibility of fantastical monsters within them.
Sea of Thieves better watch out, there´s a new player in town... XD PS: Have you ever considered checking out Enderal? It´s an amazing rpg that gets nowhere near the attention it deserves
I love how the "pirate code" says its unsportsmanlike to use guns on living humans, but totally fine on undead and animals. Edit: Oh! And cannons are fine as long as you are shooting at another ship. Doesn't matter that you are essentially using a big gun on living humans, those humans are on a boat and deserve whats coming to them!
That's because this game was developed back in the day where it was still heavily frowned upon to shoot other humans in games. Everyone used to crap on GTA because of how violent they were. And with how much of it is in games today, people wonder why there's school shooters and nutjobs who are all under the age of 25. It's because of this!
This game was a huge bright spot in my childhood! I loved playing and exploring. I often created my own story lines and would sail around avoiding combat. It made mom moms computer so hot it would sometimes shut down and I often experienced tons of lag
YOOOO THIS WAS THE CRAZIEST BLAST OF NOSTALGIA. I remember playing this game, but I had completely lost track of it until today. Thanks for reintroducing this banger to my life
Man, brings back so much memories, I played this as a child with my brothers, one of my bros was extremely addicted to it and maxed out several characters lmao, we always talked about how bummed out it was that it got shut down, then we found the re upload of the game several years later and tried it, brings back so much nostalgia but we couldnt play it for long for obvious reasons lmao.
Dude I played this game as a kid ! My whole family played it ! I was devastated when it got canceled … so you’re saying it still works in 2024?! Please let me know because I’ll download it today !
i remember grinding so much as a kid to buy the 2nd or 3rd ship option just to find out you needed to be a member to get them (i think it was 10 plus years ago lmao)
I played this game as a kid and by far it was some of the most fun I’ve had gaming, looking back at it now I never realized how much depth and sophistication went into such an old game. I was so upset when it shit down because I never got to finish the quest line, but all I really cared about was sailing the great galleon. Either this game was revolutionary for its time or modern pirate games (skull and bones) are quite shit because this game has even more features than skull and bones!! And this game is free and skull and bones is 70!!!! Make that make sense
thank you for shedding light on this, i love playing these games that i grew up with. its truly a blessing to see this, need for speed world, and runescape still up and going in 2023.thank you to the ones that worked hard giving us this nostalgia trip.i will be playing later tonight just to remember some old times
Man me and my brother played this game in beta in like 2006 all the way until it shut down. At first it was pretty barren and extremely bare bones. There used to not be a looting aspect so essentially the sword you started with and the gun were the only 2 weapons you could obtain. Eventually they changed it and added in different armor you could change, and different weapon models that dropped from NPCs. It definitely wasn't pushing the envelope of MMO gameplay but it was entertaining enough that it kept us playing. I'm really happy to see someone brought it back
I played this game back when it first released. I was in middle school. I LOVED this game. It was the kind of mmo I was looking for at that time, since WoW was too pricey for my mother. I hadn't yet discovered RuneScape(that'd be 08 for me). I haven't yet tried the revival, but I watch the videos and they all look really fun. Like the old times.
played this game for many years when it came out and ive been playing tlopo for a few years now its such a great game highly recommend. the community is amazing too.
I remember my dad agreed to let me have a toon town membership for a couple months. When this came out I created an account and logged in only for Disney to then start charging for a pirates membership as well without our consent. My dad rushed to the bank to have it cancelled. Needless to say that was the end of ever having memberships like that lol
I played this for one single afternoon at my grandparents house as a kid, and for some reason have a fond memory of it. It popped in my head the other day and now i see this. Thanks for telling me all about it
Protip: You can circumvent ship repair costs by picking up a PvP flag. Not sure if that was patched in this emulator, but it was that way when I played.
a note about the voodoo doll. it was used as one of the main insensitive to buy the subscription. so yes, it was op by design to get the f2p to see the high damage it put out.
Mitch I played this game as a kid and fkn loved it! Remember begging my parents for unlimited access all the sub for the game, the community was out of this world back in the day and this is the only game where grinding is a really fun! Keep drawing eyes to this game it's so good now!
Im happy this is getting coverage. Yes, diehard fans such as myself have kept this game alive by developing it. Whats even better if that they give you the membership free (I’m guessing it’s because of copyright reasons). That means that deeply rooted childhood pain of not being able to use certain ships, weapons and skills are now healed 😂 Happy playing ya scallywags 🏴☠️

Oooo and Adventure Quest, Mech Quest and the other spin offs lol. Also OG Runescape lol
No wonder I love Sea of Thieves now :)
I think this, Galleons (An OLD ASS Roblox Game) and the Sid Miers Pirates really shaped my Love for Space/Spaceship and Ship/Ocean Games
I love this game so much. It's goofy, a bit unbalanced, but definitely fun and with a variety of content!
This is what Sea of Thieves should've been
I agree. It’s too frustrating to play. And that is coming from someone who was maxed out.
lmao Mitch joined the same guild I'm in, and got invited by the guildmaster himself!
Dam had no idea this came back, this was the best pirate game for so long
As a long time player, I appreciate that you took the time to actually properly experience the game before starting your review! The game devs put a lot of effort in, and the community loves them for it!
Since we are on a fan revival kick and this is also a Disney game. Try Toontown Rewritten
And corporate clash!
Any random addition of Donnie Thornberry screaming as a sound effect to something in the video will result in confusion (a possible rewind) followed by a fit of laughter.
Thanks I needed that 🤣.
I played pirates of the burning seas back in the day, but this look cool too
POTBS is still going, and still fun!
Surprisingly balanced and fair for a review so tongue-in-cheek; I give you respect
I played tons of this game when I was young... I remember it looking a lot better.
This man is old school with the comedic timing..........sucks not that many youtubers are putting this much effort on their videos like Mitch
Mitch, may I recommend you try out an old classic that was a hit in South America: Tibia. It's a classic old MMO from the late 90s that is STILL holding strong somehow.
Fri itens?
my favourite part of this game was fishing for the legendary beasts. i was obsessed with atlantis at the time, so there was something magical about the deep dark sea and the possibility of fantastical monsters within them.
How i never heard of this game thanx 😮
Same wth???
i damn near broke the family computer trying to play this game as a kid
Sea of Thieves better watch out, there´s a new player in town... XD
PS: Have you ever considered checking out Enderal? It´s an amazing rpg that gets nowhere near the attention it deserves
Added to the list :)
my mom bought me this as a kid and I'm pretty sure it required a pay per month membership so I never got to play
Yeah, can't shoot ppl in game, but blowing them up with grenades is fine.
This was my first video of yours, had a lot of chuckles, and after playing Sea of Thieves today this was a nice fit, thank you!
This game was a huge bright spot in my childhood! I loved playing and exploring. I often created my own story lines and would sail around avoiding combat. It made mom moms computer so hot it would sometimes shut down and I often experienced tons of lag
Did they... Did they just used the plot of this game in actual POTC 5 film?
Please respond !!
tlopo.com/
i remember grinding so much as a kid to buy the 2nd or 3rd ship option just to find out you needed to be a member to get them (i think it was 10 plus years ago lmao)
I'm really happy to see someone brought it back
This looks way more fun than Skull and Bones 💀
I played this game back when it first released. I was in middle school. I LOVED this game. It was the kind of mmo I was looking for at that time, since WoW was too pricey for my mother. I hadn't yet discovered RuneScape(that'd be 08 for me). I haven't yet tried the revival, but I watch the videos and they all look really fun. Like the old times.
played this game for many years when it came out and ive been playing tlopo for a few years now its such a great game highly recommend. the community is amazing too.
Oh wow I used to play this way back in the day. I had 100% forgotten it even existed, thanks for the trip back in time!
This game was the shit when i was a kid cant wait to revisit this
I remember my dad agreed to let me have a toon town membership for a couple months.
Not sure if that was patched in this emulator, but it was that way when I played.
playing this as a kid i found this so much more invigorating and intense with such realistic graphics lmao
I love how the only movies established characters actually look decent, where everyone else is an NPC in Tomb Raider 3
Man, my brother and our friend played this all night as a lan party when it first came out, it was a blast lol
I remember being 5 years old and playing this game. Truly one of the most nostalgia I have experienced in a while. Thank you.
a note about the voodoo doll. it was used as one of the main insensitive to buy the subscription. so yes, it was op by design to get the f2p to see the high damage it put out.
Almost 6 months later, it looks like the release of Skull & Bones won't impact the player base of this game in the least
I have fond memories of playing this back in 2008. It's fair to say it didn't run well on our computer!
Mitch I played this game as a kid and fkn loved it! Remember begging my parents for unlimited access all the sub for the game, the community was out of this world back in the day and this is the only game where grinding is a really fun! Keep drawing eyes to this game it's so good now!
Some old minor MMO's age like milk.
Others age like wine. In this case, Rum.
I used to love this game. Then AC 4: Black Flag became a thing. Nice to see this making a comeback.
I remember spending money on this when it first came out and having a blast because I could play it in my browser.
Im happy this is getting coverage. Yes, diehard fans such as myself have kept this game alive by developing it.
Whats even better if that they give you the membership free (I’m guessing it’s because of copyright reasons). That means that deeply rooted childhood pain of not being able to use certain ships, weapons and skills are now healed 😂
Happy playing ya scallywags 🏴☠️
