    is there a collection tray in the lower compartment?

      Thank you!
      I did notice the x and y axis wasn’t perfectly perpendicular to each other as I was getting some skewed results on bigger cuts that use most of the bed area. Very simple to adjust with 4 screws on each Y rail and used a metal square to get the rails perpendicular to the X axis. Should have done this from the start.
      Other than that, it’s been a great machine. Cuts through 1/2” poplar wood with ease. I use it to cut corrugated plastic, neoprene foam sheets, foam board, acrylic, and even card stock for stencils.
      Noise levels are fine for me as I have a cnc router which is 3 times louder than the laser. Overall the loudest part when using the laser is the compressed air I hook up to it. I have it set for 30-40psi when cutting.
      There is a catch tray for scrap material. Just remove the bed to gain access to it and pull big pieces out by hand or vacuum smaller pieces.

    Hey Luke great video been looking at this model. Have you used a rotary on it it? Is there a hookup for a rotary right inside the bed area? Do you have a suggestion for a rotary mainly concerned about tumblers. Any advice would be appreciated

      Thanks for watching Kevin!
      Yep the port is inside the machine when you lower the bed on the righthand side. I have not ordered a rotary for it yet. It's on the list of things to buy next!
      This is my first co2 laser so I don't have anything to compare it to but Ray (the owner of RM Laser) assures me this is comparable to Boss lasers and much nicer than Omtech lasers. This does certainly feel like a nice quality machine. It's a bonus that it comes with a nice chiller, exhaust blower, and an extra 100w laser tube.
      I would reach out to ray@rmlaser dot com to see what he would suggest on a rotary that would work for you. He's been very helpful with all my questions and it's really cool to be able to have direct product support. He usually replies within a day or so. Hope this helps!

      @@KevinSmith-db2yi yes it’s standard if you buy the same laser I have. Comes with some extra lenses and some hardware too. I’d imagine I should be running for a long time without having to replace parts very often. Very good quality machine.

    • @unger_cnc
      @unger_cnc  8 месяцев назад +1

      No the shipping courier had a liftgate and a pallet jack. Pretty sure they just contract a trucking company when it gets near your location. Some guy called me from Wisconsin and said he’d be there the next day lol. It all worked out so I’m happy. You may want to inquire about needing liftgate service and a pallet jack just in case they don’t get the memo. The guy who brought mine, said I was lucky he had the liftgate because nobody said anything about needing it.

    Hi Luke. Excellent in-depth video. Few questions:
    1) 3 months into ownership, would you still recommend the machine?
    2) Would you have ordered/done anything differently if you could go back in time?
    3) we’re in Canada where it gets as cold, if not colder than where you are. Other than the anti-freeze, are there any other precautions you’re taking this winter?
    4) I’m speaking with ray’s sales person, and I am being charged $256 for an extra tube. Would you recommend getting it?
    Thanks in advance and I’ve made sure to like your video and subscribe to your channel, so don’t stop putting out content!

    • @unger_cnc
      @unger_cnc  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes I would still recommend this machine. My wife has been using it non-stop the last few weeks as she is getting ready for a craft fair this weekend. The machine is a workhorse.
      I don’t think I would have done anything differently. I was looking at Omtech as the other option but wasn’t thrilled I had to pay for all the extra components like chiller, exhaust blower, and even shipping cost was expensive. I saved money going with the RM960 and Ray assures me it’s a better quality product. Very similar to Boss laser quality.
      I’m not taking any other precautions currently this winter. So far so good. We’ve had some pretty cool weather in MN so far and it’s been working in the non-heated garage. The chiller does set off an alarm when the temp gets below 0c. Need to figure out how to turn it off or change the setpoint so it doesn’t trigger the alarm. I am also considering ordering a simple pump and use a bucket with a lid as the antifreeze won’t ever heat up passed 15c when running the laser right now in the winter. Would be more efficient I think.
      Interesting you’re being charged for another tube as mine came with the extra. Maybe I bought my laser at a time where bonus items were included. Not really sure. Either way, I think the tube will last a few years of heavy use. Up to you if you want to have the peace of mind having that extra tube on hand just in case.
      I do need to get my butt in gear and make more videos. Probably make a video showing how to get the best results on different materials next. Can be tricky when you have 100 watts of power on tap lol.
      Let me know if you have any other questions!

    • @unger_cnc

      I run a 20a circuit for mine and that’s enough to run the laser and the chiller. You’ll need a separate circuit for an air compressor to run the air assist.

    Hey bud I am trying to align the laser and when I hit the splash button I keep getting an error code saying "cooler error 1" maybe I am not doing this correctly to get a quick pulse from the laser. I set min/max power on the controls to 15% to start so not to burn straight through the tape. Can you tell me possibly what I am doing wrong?

    • @unger_cnc

      Do you have your chiller hooked up with the sensor cable? If not, it won’t run unless you hook it up or bypass the cooler shutdown feature in the ruida controller.
