Great video but I'm not convinced it's even a close comparison. The LG has like half the resolution and 1000 nits less brightness but the aesthetic is close matched, yes.
Why does it have to be a comparison on picture quality, when the displays are so far from each other in price?! The LG also offers features, the XDR doesn't. So, for many people, the XDR is useless. At a normal viewing distance, you wouldn't be able to see the difference, between a 32" 4K and a 32" 6K. So, the only benefit of the XDR is that the UI is smaller. While the XDR can do 1600 nits peak, it's not usable for other than for people who consume, and don't care about quality. The screen is very inaccurate in colors, above 1000 nits. So, the difference is 400 nits, and that's not a lot of difference. I have a TV that can do 1000 nits, and a HDR 600 monitor. The difference is small. That's because you normally sit closer to a monitor, than a TV. The 32" will take more of your view, compared to a TV.
How do you find the resolution on the LG? I'm thinking about upgrading my 2015 Imac 27" retina to a new macbook pro and one (or 2) of these. I'm worried that my eyes will hate me after getting used to 220+ ppi screens for so long.
Hey I’m actually thinking of adding one of these alongside my 2019 iMac 27” but I’m worried about the resolution difference as well. Did you end up going through with this, if so, how was your experience?
By the way brother, I think this monitor has power output for your MacBook, isn't it? I would like to upgrade my current 27" to a 32" monitor and currently, this is the top pick still. Any thoughts?
you should of talk more about how much better the quality of materials that goes into making the Pro Display XDR vs the cheap 5-10 plastic covers LG comes with.
Why do you think the quality is lower? Just because the XDR has an aluminium chassis and the LG has plastic, doesn't necessarily mean a difference in quality. Any expensive monitor will have a metal frame, to hold things together, and a plastic finish. A plastic monitor will last as long as any Mac monitor.
Hey bro, great stuff! Since you mentioned about LG monitor categories in which category UK850, UL600-W etc. go? Its neither gaming, ultrawide or ultrafine category.
Is there a way to scale text on this monitor between like 1080p and 4k scaling? I currently use a 3440x1440 monitor, and find the text size near perfect. I'm worried 4k would be much too small, but making the display "retina" with 1080p-esque size wouldn't be enough space.
The perfect working space on a 32'' is 3008x1692. You can set what you want, but if you want the perfect size of everything, this is the good set. The problem is, as for every 4K monitor, that you will "smooth" 3008x1692 with 3840x2160 pixels ... with is not good. It's a @1.2x smoothing, far, far, far from the @2x of the Pro Display XDR... Some will deal with that, some won't ...
