I have never been a big fan of KG's style. One day I heard he was the featured artist at the Louisville state fair.......it was a free concert.....so what did I have to lose. Let me tell you, I was blown away...........the man does have chops.......I just wish he walked on the edge a bit more. I still don't own any of albums.........but I do give him credit for carving out a career for himself.......no sin in making a living.
I was actually at this one. Amazing fest overall. Kenny G not playing his usual soft wussy stuff, and in another song dragging out a WX7... Michael Brecker stealing the show both on Tenor and with the EWI... and the Crusaders featuring Nancy Wilson! I was actually there just for Brecker and Mike Stern. Everything else was just icing.
Haha for 4 seconds at 2:18 Kenny G turns into a monster and starts playing like Michael Brecker on Heavy Metal bebop. Then it's back to classic Kenny...it proves that he can really play
Just a little run. All Kenny Gorlick ever did. He is no innovator. It's an insult to Brecker to even compare them. That mess he plays at 3:26 sounds like an 8th grader.
Seriously?!…College level? I think your confusing what he likes vs what you like in terms of the tunes that said his chop fat exceed that of a student player….I’ve heard him do Giant Steps for example and it was dead on…he just chooses his music over studying and copying others….watch the HBO doc and see if you still feel he’s a student.
One of the greatest songs ever! Back when Kenny was a fusion badass!
Kenny G , Brings a smile to my face oh the 80s❤

This is one of my favorite songs from the "Duotones" album. I loved it!
Que maravilloso volver a encontrar este concierto yo tenía CD pero me lo robaron gracias por compartir ❤😊

Always Kenny G, I haven't seen or heard anything from him that I don't love!

Oh, yeah! Michael Moore.
Lovely, earthy tenor saxophone in a KGorelickian Fashion.

Oh come on lmao... He's not my favorite either, but you're hearing 8th graders who play like that then you're running into some monster kids.
There ARE some monster kids! Seattle HS jazz bands are full of them.
