Deodato travels around the world without his own band. It's clear from some of the live performances on RUclips that he doesn't always get the backing he deserves but this was ideal. The guitarist in particular plays his heart out and deserves the Deodato "that's great, man" look he gets at the end of his solo. By the way, who else noticed the butterfly land on the guitarist's ear during his solo? He did well to shrug that off without missing a beat.

"Mention spéciale" to Incredible Daniele who travels, exploits the musical theme for three never-ending yet too-short minutes, pushes himself, stretches the limits, honoring at the same time 'Monsieur' Deodato. Una interpretazione davvero notevole, assistita da una grande tecnica, da una straripante fantasia musicale originale (nonostante i richiami ai migliori interpreti di questo brano) e da una esecuzione pulita e sempre contenuta. Complimenti sinceri, anche se già avevo avuto modo di riscontrare le tue capacità quando suonasti alle Scimmie con Boggio-Ferraris ed Alessandro Rossi. Bravo.

direi nettamente superiore al mitico Tropea...sono passati tanti anni, la tecnica chitarristica ha fatto passi da gigante, Gregolin ha un tono eccezionale ed una grande tecnica. Perfino una farfalla si posa sul suo orecchio a 6:09 per manifestargli la sua approvazione!! Tre minuti di assolo...
e c'è da sottolineare che oltre il grande Deodato ci gli altri che sono musicisti italiani e per noi è motivo di orgoglio, almeno per una volta.... bravissimi 👏👏👏

You're dead inside. Myself? I come alive every time that I hear this cut. Yup....Have my glass of wine and doing my dance with the lady (had to take her away from the cooking)...Eumir Deodato makes one want to dance, rock, and just plain be happy!!! You guys out there be happy and safe.
Yes, I remember hearing it as a child, maybe I was 10-12 years old - thirty years before I heard it again and found out who had actually composed it! It's such a great, propulsive, funky piece and this is a wonderful live take!

That's a pretty strong opinion you've got there. It's a great example of electric guitar solo. I'm curious if you have any specific reasons why it's better that all of the other amazing guitars solos that have ever been recorded. I'd love for you to share (all of) them. =)
Saw Deodato for the 1st time at Baruch College Auditorium in NYC around 1976/77...WOW!...The energy coming out that band was a sight to behold, and listen to...His first 2 Albums are Jazz Fusion Masterpieces...John Tropea,Billy Cobham,Will Lee,etc.etc...50 years later and I still listen to them...What a great melting pot music was back then...I'm grateful I was around to listen to and see it!
First heard his music in high school (1974) & to this day still have my original LP’s of Prelude & Deodato 2. That’s when I knew I liked jazz. Still listen to his music in my playlists. At least you got to see him!
This really sounds as good as the studio version, considering the small band. I mean this beats all hell out the so-called music now. In fact, I am so glad that I grew up in a time where instrumentals were as popular as vocals. I am glad my dad (rip) was a jazz muscian, who taught us to appreciate great music..real music.

I first heard this in Italy in 1973 and bought a stereo system to preserve it.
