I played super strut I believe 1976 the first time in a band as a bass player. I then played in a funk band in the 80s and forgot to keep an eye on deodatos music. Today I find this record, and I am sure, I discovered something completely new and thousand times : congratulation to this great musician for his work during the past decades . Got much to listen to now. .....
I just LOVE Al Jarreau. It was so sad to me when I heard that he had passed. I love his interpretation of songs. This was the first time I had heard him with Deodato.....probably my earliest introduction to Jazz and Bossa Nova was with his Prelude album. Or maybe it was Whirlwinds. Too long ago now. They ARE both amazing.

Haven't heard from All for some time. He's one of the best singers in the world. Deodato, know him for 45 years are so. Used to have my own Rhodes many years ago. You know with chorus and phase pedals and hurting your back.... Getting it in and out the back off the car......

This could be the best one he has ever done. Deodato is one of those improvisors and collaborators that keep getting better. Hopefully he will do another one soon!
alot of people don't know he met Robert "kool" Bell in a recording studio by accident, working on separate projects and never met before, and it changed the trajectory of Kool & The Gang from Disco Funk band into Bell-Deodato co produced super stardom and pop hit and wedding songs and sports anthems, and you get the idea.

This might be the best Deodato has done. He is so great. Im just waiting for a new one similar to this one to come out as this was 2010. Soo smooth and funky just like his style. Jarreau is the icing on the cake topping it off with a cherry with sidemen from Eumir's old 70s albums like Cobham, Tropea and Moreira. Very GROOVY

A great fan of Deodato, love his sound, he has a great line up. I remember seeing Airto at the pine knob ski resort outside of Detroit, playing with Herbie Mann. I think that was his first time playing in the USA.
