    I've always loved The Lord of the Rings, so made this animated film trailer of my interpretation of The Fellowship of the Ring.
    Here's Frodo, Gandalf, Aragorn, Boromir, Legolas, Gimli, Sam, Merry and Pippin in the first part of the epic story that will change all their lives.
    Tolkien's work is so great, it's daunting to adapt!
    This is an unofficial fan film, characters and setting rights are owned by Middle-Earth Enterprises.
    Based on characters and story created by JRR Tolkien.

    I love the depiction of Boromir here. In addition to giving him the immense physicality and body language of a bulwark/tank to contrast him with the more slender Aragorn, it seems like he is always closest to the danger. He's the first character we see next to the one ring. He's one of the first three up the stairs when they enter Moria. He's the last one out as they flee the goblins/orcs, covering the retreat of the rest of the fellowship. He's the first to turn around and directly face the Balrog, standing fearless out in front of the beast, ready to attempt to throw down until Gandalf moves in front of him. And of course, most poignantly, he puts himself directly in harm's way one last time to protect the hobbits. Brilliant show of his direct and hammer-like approach to everything (with all that comes with it, good and bad.).

      Thanks for noticing all those things with Boromir :) With such a limited time I tried to only include actions and behaviour that made the characters feel true to themselves and Boromir is one of my favourites, so I wanted to do him justice.

    • @NevarKanzaki
      @NevarKanzaki 7 месяцев назад +31

      @@tid06 I'm not really on either side of this but I will note that Aragorn's adult life is significantly longer than Boromir's. Aragorn is 87 ish and Boromir is what, 40ish? So Aragorn has had a bit over twice as long to accumulate experience. Yes, Boromir is more martially focused. I believe it is stated in the books that Boromir is physically stronger. However, we know Aragorn is more varied in his skills. I don't think we have a serious answer to which would win in a fight simply because it isn't important. Yes, Boromir is one of the best swordsmen of his time. Aragorn is implied to be too given his resume in Rohan. Tolkien doesn't feel the need to delve too deeply into that sort of comparison of his characters and when it happens, it is in cases like Legolas and Gimli in which case they were always very close. I imagine that things would be similar for Aragorn and Boromir. I think that in the end, they're probably fairly close in capacity to each other, perhaps Boromir shining a bit more in upfront combat and Aragorn where flexibility is concerned where his raw experience comes into play more, giving due respect to both.

Sure, give him all your money, but as long as he stays one person, be prepared to wait a decade for the film to be finished. Oh, you want it faster? Then pay him more to hire additional animators. Oh, Tolkien's estate came calling. More money, please! Oh no, the money from the fans wasn't enough, we need to distribute the film in theatres, on video and via streaming. Lemme take a loan to hire people who can handle the distribution. And just like that, this one fan has become one of the corporations you hate so much. People need to eat, and the meager amounts people like you can pay to support the cottage industry isn't nearly enough.

      I meam, i get your point, but the fantasy community that i know and am a part of is one of the most patient but also demanding out there. We have been waiting for years for our favourite stories, certainly we can wait some more for a decent effort concerning the stories that we love and cherish. Enough with the megalomania and narcissism of producers and film writers, and the despicable greed of corporations that feed on the "real world's" addiction to "swift pleasure" and "swipe right/left" culture. The community demands backbone! The backlash from GoT's final season and the mistrust of the fanbase towards HBO was just the beginning of the consequences when you do something half-assed and refuse to listen to your creative team, authors, actors and you fanbase's opinion. I guess i would be fine with just small video animations/narrations that stay true to the principles of fantasy: symbolism, empathy, escapism, hope and whatever else you want to add. Principles that bring people together. People who love their work and not their wallets. These people always stand out.

I feel like Bakshi's film gets somewhat cast by the wayside in comparison but it still has a lot of merit. I'm a fan of rotoscoping and Bakshi makes great use of it in some of his works. I'm especially fond of his movie, "American Pop."
      As for The Hobbit (animated one that is) I haven't seen it so I will definitely give that watch as well. When it comes to the live action Hobbit films, I feel they shouldn't have stretched it because even though it was probably meant to mirror The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (and of course for extra money) they should've kept it to one, maybe two films tops. I do somewhat enjoy aspects of the live action version because I feel most of the acting is well done, especially from Martin Freeman, who I think played a younger Bilbo just as well as Ian Holm played the older Bilbo we see in The Lord of the Rings.
      Granted I felt that Ian Holm's portrayal was far more endearing. He always came across as being kind of like a grandfather who is still young at heart and tells great stories about his life and also just whatever tale pops into his head. Anyway, sorry for the long ramble. When it comes to things like film and writing I tend to get carried away lol

      The live-action movies were great for some things (I loved what they did with Smaug, for example). I didn't want to come off as too dismissive of all three movies. It just added lots of things from the book's index and even Peter's own creative licence, like Legolas being in the films as opposed to the Hobbit book. I get that he is there because of his father's important role in the Battle of Five Armies and as a tie-in character for the LotR films. The movies just try to cram in so much extra stuff that it dilutes the overall story of what should have been a simple adventure. No doubt another problem of it having come out after LotR and needing to fuse them together for audiences.

      @@vipr1142 But this is an ADAPTATION in the art style of a completely different media. While it may be true Orc blood was black in the books, black blood (or any fluids) tends to not translate well in video. It was a stylistic choice. In the example of this video, there was a forest setting with lot's of browns and greens, black blood would have blended in with that.
