Shields & Crowd Control: The Game Even Paladins have deal with this problem better than OW, with the possibility of creating load outs and in match items that help you to deal with the CC and shields
@@Dantefrost Not that less Widow maker is good or bad but that's always been a problem with her. She's a one trick pony that could never do anything else. Most other dps's have other utility but not Widow maker. More shields just exacerbated that problem.

Since no one else is actually telling you. You're wrong because Blizzard actually went the opposite route-- they didn't care about the esports scene and leaned towards more casual gameplay. It wasn't until 2018 where the OWL came out and they wanted to focus more on that.
I picked up overwatch again about a year ago and I just wanted to play Play her because I like the character design and being a support character. I quickly realized if I could be this good with her just picking it up I feared what a true pro could do
The timing of this is hilarious. Blizzard reworked her to be a much more passive hero, but it turns out shes still ridiculously strong and people want her nerfed AGAIN
after her 4th rework her play style got way better than before and it was way more balanced, but this new rework in the experimental card is just too much

The fact that this game is more than 50% DPS characters, and yet running DPS characters was suboptimal in the pre-role lock era of the meta says volumes about how bad this game’s balance is
BadatStuff aphelios isn’t nearly as bad as brig. Upon release, he may have been the strongest ADC in the game, but at least he didn’t invalidate an entire class of champions and actually had weaknesses. Aphelios is immobile and kind of hard to play if you’re new to him, whereas brig was pretty brain dead.
matty that’s understandable (but still dumb) because sometimes that just means the actor played their role really well. Tom Felton as Malfoy or Michael Rooker as Merle are other examples. I’ve been following Brigitte VA for a long time and didn’t even know she was getting hate messages....I remember meeting her in person at an event 2 years ago, she was so sweet and so happy to voice the character! But she’s not the one who designed Brigitte’s core functions so she shouldn’t be hated either way.

Brig is the biggest example of “be careful of what you wish for”. She did exactly what she was meant to do - kill Dive. And then with Goats, people were going “oh wow I miss Dive”. It’s funny.
Paladins has the items and cards system to prevent things like this. In Paladins, if the enemy team is abusing shields- then you can buy Wrecker to destroy shields faster. Paladins also has an item to reduce crowd control.
Yeah but paladins has its own problems, servers can be fine but then be absolute dog shit for months, the maps while they layout is decent they are so ugly, also the bugs... The fucking bugs, they fix one thing then break 10 more
Personally i find that the biggest issue with Paladins is that it crashes way too frequently. Not only does it crash constantly, but it takes anywhere from 3 to 6 minutes just to get back into a match you were kicked out of. It wouldnt be such a problem if it wasnt for the fact that the bot Paladins puts in your place is fucking trash and wastes credits on unneeded items.

Deep down it's a great game, but devs are more interested in giving heroes that have already 20 skins even more skins and not fixing bugs. If they just fixed all the damn bugs the game would be at least playable and fun

It’s insane looking back to see how much they’ve nerfed her since launch. Healing reduced, HP reduced by 50, shield from 600 to 200. E no longer gives bonus armour. And... she’s still playable. They really did realease an OP character.

In terms of skill required she’s basically mercy on crack. Requires zero skill or aim like mercy, but can disrupt play so well at low and even high level play. They introduced a lot of really important supports, for better or worse. Every support that was added has the ability to shut down ultimates with just their cool downs. Yet OGs like Lucio and Zen can only counter ultimates with their own ultimate. As a result Lucio and mostly Zen receive zero love anymore, yet receive no quality of life changes.
Did nobody on the dev team think “hey, maybe creating a hero who can singlehandedly destroy the only meta this game has had up until this point seem way too overkill?”
no, because Dive had been meta for more than a year by that point, and general nerfs didn't seem to work (because they were reluctant to nerf tracer and lucio). so they used the nuclear option: release a hero specifically designed to destroy that meta.

icefrog is pure genius i have never seen a game balanced like dota 2 before and i have played alot of mobas , everything can be countered + there is alot of options or path to take on dota that makes every match you play is a little bit different than the one you played before
it did have a good comp scene, watching the OWL or just competitive play in general was pretty amusing back when there was more than 1 or 2 viable teams
Honestly, as someone who stopped playing OW, the issue is that every game is the same, no matter what the meta is. There is no game to game variation, because the roles are too limited. Support means healing. Your primary job is to keep your team up, and that's all you do. Game after game after game. Tanks are much the same way. Support in Dota offers a huge variety of reposibilities. You are primarily in charge of warding and keeping carries alive, but that takes many different forms. You might be an initiator. You might be a roamer. You might be the healer. You might be a nuker. So if you aren't playing carry, there is still a lot of flashy plays you can make. To me at the end of the day, there is a design issue at the core of Overwatch that kills any of the potential the game has. Plus it just feels corporate, bland, and generic, but that might just be me.
This is 100% the same reason I quit too. It's just the same shit... Every single game... I have friends that have played this since launch every day and I just cannot wrap my head around it. Like a year into playing it and you've seen everything there is to see. You've played every scenario there is to play. And God forbid you wanna get to the higher levels of the game. Because at that point it isn't about playing the game it's about playing the meta whether you like it or not. Then what's the point? Also the characters get so boring. No builds, no customization of abilities, no weapon variation... Just the same old shit
That's so true. I played competitive shooters like CS and MOBAS like LoL, Dota, HotS, and Overwatch has that problem that every fucking game is the same. Roles are repetitive and every time you pick a champ you know exactly what you'll be doing for the whole game. Your behavior is almost untouched by the enemy team compisiton, like every champ has to be played the same, game after game, to be most effective. And don't get me started on the tactics. Basically no need for tactics when the whole team can just dive in, game after game, and win with 0 strategy. And no matter what you do, you can't counter that. The game would have been so much better if characters could have had different weapons and a bit changed up skills, like buying items or talents, to change their play style from game to game. In the end, I left the game because I got bored. Bored of the same gameplay, champ by champ, game by game. Bored of the lore that got an update like once or twice a year. What a collosal failure.

@@herdinstinct8282 The game was ruined for me after moira's release. At that point I realized that they aren't going to release high skill heroes, instead they'll dish out no aim and broken ones on launch. I used to play genji before he fell off meta, I switched to zarya and ana and peaked at 3.7k

Its not only fun, having to do a ton of cps and perfect plays to counter 1 click from an enemy character, having to do alot of stuff to make value instead of existing and making value is not fair, you could just main brig and stomp people 2 ranks over your rank just by playing her. Imagine having to play a braindead character cause she creates more value than you playing something that needs more skill.
I had played overwatch since launch, Brigitte literally made me quit. As a Rein main it wasnt much fun constantly getting stunned and killed by a “healer”.
Gotta admit that getting stunned is quite anoying, but only bad players (like me) get stunned a lot. She made rein/winston really hard/frustrating to play and Orissa is just boring in general.

YES! exactly! It was always walk up as Rein holding your shield up for your team, getting stunned by a Brig, into being melted by the enemy team and suddenly you left your team on a 5v6. I quit the game shortly after that. Only returned after 2-2-2 was added
Imagine everyone being sick of the Dive meta. And then GOATS happened. For real, be careful what you wish for. Dive was so fun to play and watch. And then the community got tired of it, and metas in OW got worse ever since Dive was out.
YES THANK YOU. Why is no one talking about how much it hurts the game when heroes that reward poor play are introduced? And the devs just keep doing it, although no examples are so egregiously overpowered as brig. But now we have : Moira who rewards not knowing how to aim, has very high heal output, has no gate on her damage by way of ammo or resource management, and can be rewarded with kills for simply releasing a floating ai orb. Sigma: a double-shielded shield tank who is allowed to reposition and angle his team shield as needed, forgiving poor shield placement and poor positioning. Also rewarded for not being able to aim with bounce on his projectiles and an extremely forgiving aim hitbox, with enough damage to 2 shot a squishy character. On top of this, he can CC you, and has an ult that AoE CC's you for a long time, sets up for his other teammates, and does a lot of damage, AND allows him to focus an enemy while ulting, AND grants him mobility.
i legit told everyone once i saw her kit that the game was dead. Instead of balancing their game, they literally created a character to counter the meta they created....
unselfish clones it requires u to be good mechanically. That’s why it’s better. A team of 6 masters could play goats and beat a team of 6 t500s playing dive

You couldn't just rely on one guy clicking heads. That's why Vancouver was so dominant in the early state of the league, and lost ground to the shock during the season. They had the best established chemistry and other teams needed to catch up. Honestly, Goats itself was not the problem. But stale metas tend to annoy the Player-/Fanbase

you haven't seen League of Legends everytime there's a broken champion just running around and dominating the rift and they can't even reword their champions correctly AND to top things off their champion releases like Sett, Aph and Senna completely broke the game.
I could've told you this a few years ago. Almost in any game, "Tank Assassin" ruins games. She might not be a true assassin in this game, but she was a great skirmisher before she was nerfed. Not only that, she heals in this game. the 2-2-2 is even worse. I went back on and tried to play the game but the queue is disgusting.
She is easily the most boring character to watch from a first person perspective. She never does anything truly flashy or impressive. It’s just swing, swing, swing, swing, throw armor pack, swing, swing. Oh and throw up your shield for a split second to stun someone. She looked and felt downright brain-dead easy to use.
honestly kinda felt like i had to do alot more than that to play brigette especaly since what happens after the role lock thing :( not to mention how trash blizard is at ballancing charicters (mercy and brig r heavy examples for this cause the killed mercy when she didnt need any hard nerfs and brig honestly didnt need to be changed that hard just nerf the stun rate or the heal inspire gave and that might of killed a part of goats or even double or triple shield)
It was the combo of doomfist and brig for me. At that point the game just had too much cc. Those are both characters that are a lot of fun to play but not at all fun to play against.
Top reason why I play sombra since they can’t aim and use abilities as there main weapon take the abilities away and watch there brain microwave trying to aim

What’s even worse about brig during this time is that not only could she destroy all DPS in a duel but she could also be able to destroy tanks as well. I remember one time in OW1 and I was playing DVA trying to get my rank placements up and it came to a 1v1 as everyone else was dead or either running back to point after spawning. She was Unkillable and I couldn’t do anything about it. Her healing just overthrew my missile damage and my matrix did nothing since she is a melee character. I also notice her cooldowns just overthrow mine aswell, she would get her shield bash and boop faster than I would get my missiles and boosters. By the time I ejected out of my Mech my genji was back with me on point. We both got rolled even though genji was ulting her. Ridiculous meta.
brig is way to low-skill for her reward both now and before she just needs a redesign to bring her to a higher skill ceiling higher skill floor if they want a jack of all trades character that is good at everything (or just delete her which would be the easy opt-out but doubt their gonna do either of these for a while).
I mean it's really simple, She was already a Tanky support, that's her gimick, why the frack does she have stuns? Hell she has more stun potential than every other tank. I think that's the big thing she should just be a tanky support. That's strong enough as is.

I might get irritated at my bronze teammates but I'm still having fun, I've been to higher ranks and it's a nightmare dealing with very serious players who flame over everything. I'm not a pro, I'm just playing for fun at the end of the day, even in ranked I try to win but only if it's still fun for me
I feel like one thing worth mentioning about brig and the reason she was so strong was because of dive. Dive had been meta for a very long time and people were honestly bored of it. They tried to counter it with a buff to junkrat but that didn't work so brig was the answer. People will always complain, but goats went for far too long imo.
And the root of the issue is the lack of ban-pick system like DotA. If each team have to go to ban-pick phase like Dota, the most OP one absolutely be banned from first two ban waves.

la comunidad toxica y de gente que tiene berrinches y lloriqueos mato el juego, solo vean, lloran por brigg, reportes falsos de gente que lo hace sin sentido, doomfist esta rotisimo y nadie dice nada, con hanzo no necesitas manos para jugar, widow tiene kills gratis y dispara desde una esquina del mapa,reaper injustificadamente fuerte(decisión elitista por los de tiers altos sin considerar el resto de jugadores), una vez mas doomfis rompe la logica dentro del juego, no tiene tiempo de enfriamiento de sus habilidades, recarga automatica mucha movilidad, daño enorme, las fisicas no se aplican a el, se mueve por todo el mapa con solo una combinacion de sus habilidades, y de mas cosas y la gente llora por un personaje que pudo haber cambiado el juego y mejorarlo creando clases hibridas... que gente... dan lastima.
tengo 0 horas de juego con mercy, no llego ni a los 2 minutos con bastion, juego de todo prácticamente y no tengo main pero si el tiempo suficiente (desde la beta)para ver, como la propia comunidad arruino el juego, sobretodo con sus lloriqueos (nerfs, buufs injustificados solo porque no pueden matar o mueren mucho con un personaje) y falta de objetividad, sistema de reportes deplorable, se quejan de brigg y doom esta rotisimamente roto, rompe la palabra roto...

Since no one else is actually telling you. You're wrong because Blizzard actually went the opposite route-- they didn't care about the esports scene and leaned towards more casual gameplay. It wasn't until 2018 where the OWL came out and they wanted to focus more on that.

BadatStuff aphelios isn’t nearly as bad as brig. Upon release, he may have been the strongest ADC in the game, but at least he didn’t invalidate an entire class of champions and actually had weaknesses. Aphelios is immobile and kind of hard to play if you’re new to him, whereas brig was pretty brain dead.

I’ve been following Brigitte VA for a long time and didn’t even know she was getting hate messages....I remember meeting her in person at an event 2 years ago, she was so sweet and so happy to voice the character! But she’s not the one who designed Brigitte’s core functions so she shouldn’t be hated either way.
This assumes people are rational when all evidence of history says otherwise, people are naturally passionate and when they see that passion snuffed they look for the source. Brig is the biggest example of “be careful of what you wish for”. She did exactly what she was meant to do - kill Dive. And then with Goats, people were going “oh wow I miss Dive”. It’s funny.

Paladins has the items and cards system to prevent things like this. In Paladins, if the enemy team is abusing shields- then you can buy Wrecker to destroy shields faster. Paladins also has an item to reduce crowd control.
Yeah but paladins has its own problems, servers can be fine but then be absolute dog shit for months, the maps while they layout is decent they are so ugly, also the bugs... The fucking bugs, they fix one thing then break 10 more
Personally i find that the biggest issue with Paladins is that it crashes way too frequently. Not only does it crash constantly, but it takes anywhere from 3 to 6 minutes just to get back into a match you were kicked out of.
It wouldnt be such a problem if it wasnt for the fact that the bot Paladins puts in your place is fucking trash and wastes credits on unneeded items.

Requires zero skill or aim like mercy, but can disrupt play so well at low and even high level play. They introduced a lot of really important supports, for better or worse.
Every support that was added has the ability to shut down ultimates with just their cool downs. Yet OGs like Lucio and Zen can only counter ultimates with their own ultimate. As a result Lucio and mostly Zen receive zero love anymore, yet receive no quality of life changes.

Midway though S4 when the Bastion meta rolled out, I dipped because I knew this game could only go downhill at that point.

Honestly, as someone who stopped playing OW, the issue is that every game is the same, no matter what the meta is. There is no game to game variation, because the roles are too limited. Support means healing. Your primary job is to keep your team up, and that's all you do. Game after game after game. Tanks are much the same way. Support in Dota offers a huge variety of reposibilities. You are primarily in charge of warding and keeping carries alive, but that takes many different forms. You might be an initiator. You might be a roamer. You might be the healer. You might be a nuker. So if you aren't playing carry, there is still a lot of flashy plays you can make. To me at the end of the day, there is a design issue at the core of Overwatch that kills any of the potential the game has.
Plus it just feels corporate, bland, and generic, but that might just be me.
This is 100% the same reason I quit too. It's just the same shit... Every single game... I have friends that have played this since launch every day and I just cannot wrap my head around it. Like a year into playing it and you've seen everything there is to see. You've played every scenario there is to play. And God forbid you wanna get to the higher levels of the game. Because at that point it isn't about playing the game it's about playing the meta whether you like it or not. Then what's the point? Also the characters get so boring. No builds, no customization of abilities, no weapon variation... Just the same old shit
That's so true. I played competitive shooters like CS and MOBAS like LoL, Dota, HotS, and Overwatch has that problem that every fucking game is the same. Roles are repetitive and every time you pick a champ you know exactly what you'll be doing for the whole game. Your behavior is almost untouched by the enemy team compisiton, like every champ has to be played the same, game after game, to be most effective. And don't get me started on the tactics. Basically no need for tactics when the whole team can just dive in, game after game, and win with 0 strategy. And no matter what you do, you can't counter that. The game would have been so much better if characters could have had different weapons and a bit changed up skills, like buying items or talents, to change their play style from game to game.
In the end, I left the game because I got bored. Bored of the same gameplay, champ by champ, game by game. Bored of the lore that got an update like once or twice a year. What a collosal failure.

Its not only fun, having to do a ton of cps and perfect plays to counter 1 click from an enemy character, having to do alot of stuff to make value instead of existing and making value is not fair, you could just main brig and stomp people 2 ranks over your rank just by playing her. Imagine having to play a braindead character cause she creates more value than you playing something that needs more skill.

I had played overwatch since launch, Brigitte literally made me quit. As a Rein main it wasnt much fun constantly getting stunned and killed by a “healer”.

Gotta admit that getting stunned is quite anoying, but only bad players (like me) get stunned a lot. She made rein/winston really hard/frustrating to play and Orissa is just boring in general.

The worst part is that support mains actually defended brig saying "just adapt derp derp she's not op". And now you see even after brig being nerfed 15 times she's still meta lol. A lot of the trash ow community doesn't even want balance, they just want ez op heroes to cheese their way to the top.

It was always walk up as Rein holding your shield up for your team, getting stunned by a Brig, into being melted by the enemy team and suddenly you left your team on a 5v6.
I quit the game shortly after that. Only returned after 2-2-2 was added

Imagine everyone being sick of the Dive meta. And then GOATS happened. For real, be careful what you wish for. Dive was so fun to play and watch. And then the community got tired of it, and metas in OW got worse ever since Dive was out.

YES THANK YOU. Why is no one talking about how much it hurts the game when heroes that reward poor play are introduced? And the devs just keep doing it, although no examples are so egregiously overpowered as brig. But now we have :
Moira who rewards not knowing how to aim, has very high heal output, has no gate on her damage by way of ammo or resource management, and can be rewarded with kills for simply releasing a floating ai orb.
Sigma: a double-shielded shield tank who is allowed to reposition and angle his team shield as needed, forgiving poor shield placement and poor positioning. Also rewarded for not being able to aim with bounce on his projectiles and an extremely forgiving aim hitbox, with enough damage to 2 shot a squishy character. On top of this, he can CC you, and has an ult that AoE CC's you for a long time, sets up for his other teammates, and does a lot of damage, AND allows him to focus an enemy while ulting, AND grants him mobility.
Goats was the most skilled meta evet

@@TransparentEclipse honestly... no. Goats was maybe not mechanically demanding, but you needed coordination and teamwork more than in every other meta. You couldn't just rely on one guy clicking heads.
That's why Vancouver was so dominant in the early state of the league, and lost ground to the shock during the season. They had the best established chemistry and other teams needed to catch up.
Honestly, Goats itself was not the problem. But stale metas tend to annoy the Player-/Fanbase

I could've told you this a few years ago. Almost in any game, "Tank Assassin" ruins games. She might not be a true assassin in this game, but she was a great skirmisher before she was nerfed. Not only that, she heals in this game. the 2-2-2 is even worse. I went back on and tried to play the game but the queue is disgusting.
She is easily the most boring character to watch from a first person perspective. She never does anything truly flashy or impressive. It’s just swing, swing, swing, swing, throw armor pack, swing, swing. Oh and throw up your shield for a split second to stun someone. She looked and felt downright brain-dead easy to use.

It was the combo of doomfist and brig for me. At that point the game just had too much cc.
Those are both characters that are a lot of fun to play but not at all fun to play against.

What’s even worse about brig during this time is that not only could she destroy all DPS in a duel but she could also be able to destroy tanks as well. I remember one time in OW1 and I was playing DVA trying to get my rank placements up and it came to a 1v1 as everyone else was dead or either running back to point after spawning. She was Unkillable and I couldn’t do anything about it. Her healing just overthrew my missile damage and my matrix did nothing since she is a melee character. I also notice her cooldowns just overthrow mine aswell, she would get her shield bash and boop faster than I would get my missiles and boosters. By the time I ejected out of my Mech my genji was back with me on point. We both got rolled even though genji was ulting her.
Ridiculous meta.
brig is way to low-skill for her reward both now and before she just needs a redesign to bring her to a higher skill ceiling higher skill floor if they want a jack of all trades character that is good at everything (or just delete her which would be the easy opt-out but doubt their gonna do either of these for a while).

I might get irritated at my bronze teammates but I'm still having fun, I've been to higher ranks and it's a nightmare dealing with very serious players who flame over everything. I'm not a pro, I'm just playing for fun at the end of the day, even in ranked I try to win but only if it's still fun for me

I feel like one thing worth mentioning about brig and the reason she was so strong was because of dive. Dive had been meta for a very long time and people were honestly bored of it. They tried to counter it with a buff to junkrat but that didn't work so brig was the answer. People will always complain, but goats went for far too long imo.
Another reason is Blizzard to long to fix it
And the root of the issue is the lack of ban-pick system like DotA. If each team have to go to ban-pick phase like Dota, the most OP one absolutely be banned from first two ban waves.

la comunidad toxica y de gente que tiene berrinches y lloriqueos mato el juego, solo vean, lloran por brigg, reportes falsos de gente que lo hace sin sentido, doomfist esta rotisimo y nadie dice nada, con hanzo no necesitas manos para jugar, widow tiene kills gratis y dispara desde una esquina del mapa,reaper injustificadamente fuerte(decisión elitista por los de tiers altos sin considerar el resto de jugadores), una vez mas doomfis rompe la logica dentro del juego, no tiene tiempo de enfriamiento de sus habilidades, recarga automatica mucha movilidad, daño enorme, las fisicas no se aplican a el, se mueve por todo el mapa con solo una combinacion de sus habilidades, y de mas cosas y la gente llora por un personaje que pudo haber cambiado el juego y mejorarlo creando clases hibridas... que gente... dan lastima.
