I feel like I just watched one man building The Great Pyramid - just when I think "that's the best a human being will ever do" (at the guitar), someone like this comes along, and produces a shimmering, rippling, waterfall of chords and notes in the sun, throwing off sprays of color and furious undercurrents as it falls, and carries your heart away. I am sitting here stunned - I can't believe what I just felt, heard, and saw. This man is a force of nature on the guitar. What a privilege to hear - I feel like I was just machine-gunned with a hundred Harmonic Riffs, and could die a happy man, as my heart flies away on his artistry - and the excitement he feels while expressing it. All this music on a hollow piece of wood, and 6 steel strings - all the subtlety, speed, precision, harmonic color, control, mastery, and poetry, with notes flying out across the shivering air, and dancing with each other before they can even fade away. I heard him say, in an interview, "I have one pedal on stage: a tuner with an on-off switch." And I thought to myself "All we have done is make music easier and emptier, with all of our technology." I remember listening to Leo Kottke in the late 1970s ( ruclips.net/video/VP4HwpE6jUs/видео.html ), and thinking, "how can anyone be this good?" Tommy Emmanuel is my answer - but Kottke is still incredible, and can sing and sustain this guitar excellence. We are all very fortunate to live in these times, with so many incredible players. I bow to Tommy Emmanuel - and still, to Leo Kottke.
I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to express yourself fully! I agree wholeheartedly. He resonates pure joy and positivity…such a loving and lovely being!!
The most peerless guitarist on the planet today. I've heard all that's been presented to us over the last 6 decades and there is no one that comes close to this man in passion, ability, musical exploration and exploitation and general entertaining finesse. He sooo connects with his awed audience. The first time I experienced this man I was stunned and hooked. Long live Tommy Emmanuel !!
Absolutely true. No wonder he was voted the "Best Guitar of the Year" by guitar magazine twice in a row. As for me is still the best guitar in the world. He is a trend setter. We are still waiting for someone to come along to take his place when TE is no longer with us.
@@ruralparadise8901 While there are no doubt and will be more GREAT guitar players - there will only EVER be 1 Tommy Emmanuel! May we be blessed that the best live long and his music forever!

Thank you very much for sharing this epic performance of Tommy Emmanuel. Respectfully, It didn't take place in 2006. It was released in 2004. This performance is the first time I was introduced to the great Tommy Emmanuel. The Maestro. The Legend. My mom found it on PBS and told me I had to watch it. Life has never been the same since. Thank you, Mom, and Thank You Tommy for bringing me and so many people so much joy.
An AMAZING guitarist, musician, entertainer, comprehensive, articulate, and on and on. He transmits that emotion that he puts in his music at the moment. He started this program as if he was on fire, and I felt that heat. You feel his songs as you are listening. Amazing talent.
Just found Tommy I’m 72 I don’t think I can pick up my guitar again , have heard many players I have no say Tommy surpasses them all , god blessed him jmf
Why did the cameras leave out the bass player, and the other 2 guitar players ?? I can't even tap my fingers to this music . His foot needs to be miked ! I'm OUT !
At 5:41 when Bob is speaking about the music festival in Kansas, does anyone know what festival this was and what the year was? I know I'm wayy late on this video, but I'd love to see if I can find any video of it. Sounds like a great story.
I never heard such perfektly and preciously played music. From yesterday I love this man and I can throw my guitar into trash. I will play so heavenly never.
It's amazing that the audience is so mesmerised that they forget to applaud until they can't help but erupt like when you forget to breath and then suddenly you gasp to inhale
the two people who voted thumbs down on this must be deaf and blind....the only explanation. Tommy may be the greatest acoustic guitar player who has ever lived....period
Eric Clapton says he's the best he's ever seen, Tommy was awarded the CGP CERTIFIED GUITAR PLAYER by Chet Atkins, at one time Tommy said a few years ago there is one better, his brother Phil, shortly after that Phil passed away.
Tommy is a Philharmonic symphony. He is music. His soulful vivacity touches us like no other. A living, breathing miracle. Behold! The very essence of heavenly origin plus years of tenacity and love to share his gift with us, and openly teach those who would receive it. He touches millions of us, one by one. Legend in his own time. Every breath humble. Thank you Tommy Emmanuel, CGP.
Thank you Jean-Louis for sharing. Is that you playing the Harmonica Jean..man you are good brotha. You two should tour together. Much love and respect for the both of you..Cheers🍷.
Right? A little overproduced. The guy editing was like..."I paid for all of this editing software! By God I'm gonna use it!" lol. But otherwise, great video.
Question pour Jean-Louis: Est-ce vraiment 2006? Tommy est si jeune! Et il a toujours l'alliance de mariage au main gauche tandis qu'il s'est divorce en 2202 ou 2003.
I hope you changed your mind. I think you have your own gift, for at least one reason. Keyboard is my instrument. I play for fellow challenged people. Can't duplicate Tommy. His gift has elevated my gift beyond any expectation. You have a start on your own pathway. Blessings 🎸
I hope you mean you do more than just strum it now! I hope you didn’t mean you gave up! 99.8% of us can never be this good, but his passion is inspiring to just keep playing, have fun, and make it fun for those listening! I personally always struggled with acoustic guitar to “jam on”, I mostly strummed and used it as a rhythmic instrument, and always struggled playing lead on it! Yeah, I had some crappy guitars with super high action, but I can’t blame it all on the instrument!
Nice dynamic and variative technical ... VERY VERY THEATRICALLY ... WONDERFUL NATURAL HUMANIS ... SPECTACULAIR ... AMAZING Play music with talk about by humor ...
Tommy est le PRINCE des six cordes ,il est habité et connecté lorsqu'il joue c'est un "Passeur" .Merci pour tes notes et harmonies qui nous transportent et le plaisir du partage .
The people who voted this negatively wouldn't recognize talent if it bit them in the ass!
I thought I was dam good guitar player until I heard Tommy.
11;00 mins and Chet Atkins would be churnin' in his coffin hearing this. :)
What a beautiful piece of guitarwork. Thanks Tommy Emmaanuel.
Why dose you tube have to cut in and out. When you are listening to a song
Fuck now I want to pick up my guitar and play!!!!
he plays every note with his body as well as the guitar! He stands alone!

You forgot dumb.
Best thing about Tommy is you could go to 300 concerts and he wouldn't play one song exactly the same.
Misuka Chao ,what bad is if artist plays songs in same way?
@@F20ization because it makes your own experience some kinda of unique.
MrPekosos ,yes but you can have uniqueness through your orginality
I mean create the melody or harmony or style which is different from those one of other artists
he's definitely having fun too... plays some unbelievable riff.. and smiles
Love Tommy Emmanuel - Seeing him in January 2019!!! Can not wait!!!!! EXCITED!!!
Fantastisk consert Super Solo performance of the bedst Thanks so much

Incredible chops and musicianship, but his tone is a little harsh and he's overplaying that guitar a little bit, maybe because of the thumbpick
Great guitar, love it!
