- Before Lindsay Lohan played twin sisters in Disney’s rom-com The Parent Trap in 1998, the beloved characters were originally played by English actress Hayley Mills in the original 1961 version of The Parent Trap. Mills ultimately starred in six Disney movies throughout the '60. Her first movie with the entertainment giant was Pollyanna in 1960 where she played the adorable and cheerful young orphan who changes an entire small town.
Even in her later years, Mills proved to be a prolific and talented actress. But what has she been up to since? Here's what exactly happened to child actor Hayley Mills.

This presentation is leaving huge and important pieces of Hayley's story. I just finished reading her book and must say it was a page turner. Well written. She opens up quite a bit about her formative years. Very interesting. It's so disgusting how the British revenue raided her trust fund....and even worse how her accountant knew it was going to happen. She could have dissolved the trust before she was of legal age, disperse the money and retained her hard earned wealth....but she was never advised by the people she trusted. Read her book. It's all in there.
Hayley Mills has always been my favorite female Disney actress, Dean Jones was my favorite male Disney actor. I love "That Darn Cat" and "Moon Spinners" both staring Hayley Mills, they are two of my favorite movies.
I also love " The Trouble With Angels" starring Hayley Mills, I own this movie and "That Darn Cat".
I love That Darn Cat! Pollyanna is my favorite, but I'd say that's the second. I also really like Summer Magic and The Parent Trap

Saw her movies in the auditorium at school nearly 60 years ago. Didn't do it often but it was delightful when we did.
Back then we learned penmanship, reading, math, foreign language (I took French), grammar, courtesy, Civics!, art, music, history......
It is shocking that young people now use devices so much that if I write a letter in 'script', they can't read it. And no, I don't want to return to 'the good old days', but simple civility shouldn't be too much to ask.

THE TRUTH ABOUT SPRING is still my favorite movie. I fell in love with Hayley when I first saw that movie and still love her role in it 50 years later. Amazingly my wife Barbara also considers THE TRUTH ABOUT SPRING to be her favorite movie. Reminiscing about that movie helped bring Barbara and I together and we have been happily married for 37+ years (since June 2nd, 1984). My wife knows that she is the greatest love of my life, closely followed by the character of Springer. Thank you Hayley for being the common denominator for my wife and I. Our 3 children and 8 grandchildren thank you also. I'm a 63 year-old man today, watched our DVD of THE TRUTH ABOUT SPRING and realized that I STILL love Hayley after all these years. Some of her other movies are very good, especially the original THE PARENT TRAP but TTAS will always be my (our) favorite. GOD BLESS YOU HAYLEY.
As pre teen girls my sister and I loved Parent Trap and use to sing "Lets get together" for our parents complete with guitar and dance moves! Love Love Hayley Mills!

I feel privileged to have actually seen Hayley Mills in person, (not just onscreen) when I saw ‘The King and I’ on stage, in which she played the part of Anna.
I loved her in Parent Trap, Pollyanna, and The Trouble with Angels - she is about 3 to 4 years older than me.

I must be one of the few millennials who's even heard of this woman. I mean, for most other millennials, the only version of The Parent Trap they're familiar with is the Lindsay Lohan version, and we all know what she's been up to in the years since. And yeah, I started getting into Hayley's movies like 2 years ago.
A lot of millennials have internet access and an interest for classic cinema. Plus, a lot of Disney fans know about Pollyanna and The Parent Trap. Is Hayley Mills an household name among millennials? No but you’re not “one of the few”.
@@pony7653 I wasn't talking about Disney fans in my comments. I was talking about my generation and how the majority are more likely to know of the Lindsay Lohan remake of The Parent Trap and not be aware of the 1961 Hayley Mills version. And when I said "one of the few", I meant like maybe somewhere between 300 or 500 or maybe a little more people worldwide of my generation being familiar with Hayley Mills.

@@jones2277 Well, I was born in 1989 but mostly the only old Disney movies I watched as a child were the animated movies as well as Mary Poppins.

Just watched dvd pollyanna about 2 weeks ago after buying dvd. I first saw movie many years ago and really liked it.

That's the favorite movie of Elizabeth Smart. You know, that girl (now woman) from Utah who was abducted in June 2002 and held captive for 9 months before being rescued by the police.
@@aussieman3021 I did not know that. How did you manage to find that out, BTW? Did she write about it in her book? Every Christmas, without fail, I think of that poor, sweet old lady telling the head nun, "I had presents for them". Breaks my heart every time I think of that scene. 😢

Deadly Strangers was a great movie. It let her break out of the perpetual goody-two-shoes roles and really sink her teeth in a Hitchcock-type drama. Great acting on her part.
The difference between an accountant absconding with a client's money and not informing her/him of what needs to be done to keep it is mute.
Her book gave us an insight into her life. Some funny and some sad. She was astonished at the amount of food in America on the location of pollyana. And she had a big crush on her co-star on Tiger Bay. If i could turn back time, i would have loved to meet Hayley Mills. You could always recognise that special voice of hers. One thing i found interesting is how Hayley got the part of Tiger Bay as the part was originally for a boy. But after a visit to the Mills household where hayley was playing out in the yard. She was instantly picked up and wisked to the Tiger Bay location. The rest is history.
She's still pretty.😊

You forgot her fabulous film Back Home in 1989. About how an English family had to readjust after WWII. Their daughter had been sent to America during the war and Hailey character had been helping with the War efforts at home. Great movie, is on RUclips.
Yep, I remember the movie. Sent her daughter to the USA during the war and in good ole English fashion, sent her off to boarding school when she returned.
She made an exquisite black and white film in England in 1959, Tiger Bay, in which she hides and befriends a young man whom she has witnessed committed murder. A beautiful performance, and their relationship is pure and unsullied.
THE HAILEY MILLS FILM "DEADLY STRANGERS" WAS AWESOME !!!! IT HAD A VERY SURPRISE ENDING !!!! IT WAS A FANTASTIC MOVIE WITH GREAT BACKGROUND MUSIC, VERY SIMILAR MUSIC TO DOMINIC FRONTIERE'S "THE OUTER LIMITS" SOUNDTRACK. ALSO CO-STARRING IN "DEADLY STRANGERS" WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE TV SERIES WESTERN ACTOR RORY CALHOUN OF "THE TEXAN". HERE IN NEW YORK CITY THE RERUNS AIRED ON WNEW-TV STATION CHANNEL 5, WHICH IS TODAY KNOWN AS FOX-TV. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE "DEADLY STRANGERS" AGAIN !!!!

No-she was really big star for us millenials (i think more 90s-60s). I am, however, alittle surprised that she doesnt get as much as praise someone like Lizza Minelli or julie andrews in today's time.
