I never did understand the use of the word 'for' in the first line: O Beautiful FOR Spacious Skies, FOR Amber Waves of Grain... Surely 'vast' would have been better: O Beautiful VAST Spacious Skies, VAST Amber Waves of Grain? But I'm British, so maybe the word 'for' suits in the American dialect? Any experts out there in comment land wanna tell me?
What are your favorite lines or scenes from the film? Mine is when Jimmy Beans says "I'm something you can't be, I'm an orphan". Surely, since both of her parents died Pollyanna is also an orphan (albeit living in her aunt's posh home).
o beautiful for spacious skies for amber waves of grain for purple mountain majesties above the fruited plain america america god shed his grace on thee and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea

We sang this in opening exercises in the early grades of school. I'm sure Hayley Mills had to learn the song for the film, as she was British and this was not something she'd know.
Hayley must have been Disney's sweetheart at the time... I'm sure there were 100's of American girls who could have played the part equally well, but they chose Hayley instead.
This movie is my cozy place..where america was great..Hollywood wasn't bad and Disney wasn't political ...oh the good old days ... where they taught beautiful messages in movies ..not like these days crap.... absolutely nonsense
In period movies like "The Music Man", set in 1912 or so, I don't think diversity works. The 2003 remake starring Mathew Broderick was more diverse, and it just looked contrived and fake. I wouldn't make a movie about 19th century London diverse either. Don't ever redo "Oliver" that way please!

I’m going to meet Hayley Mills in February! I’m reading her autobiography right now, and it’s great. It’s called “Forever Young”
@@maxhubmann1696 If you can manage it, give her a big hug from me.

She's English

Good point! I never thought about that.
The movie Pollyanna
*looks around*. No diversity casting or wokeness. My kind of film
Well firstly it was the 60s and secondly, that’s a little racist don’t you think…? Smdh. 🤦🏾♀️

What if the cast was diverse?
