What's your current favorite part of your setup? Anything you'd want to add to your dream setup? Also I hope you liked this video! It took FOREVER so... you know... thumbs up this video :)
I'd like to afford something similar one day. Currently, my computer's cheaper than your desk. Edit 10/31/20: Just in case anybody wondering, i3 6th generation, 4gb ram, intel HD graphics 520, sitting on bed with no backrest, with laptop on top of my pillow....for 3 years and counting. Edit 06/01/21: Bought my 1st monitor. It's 27 in, 150$, 1920x1080 display, I am really happy with it. Also now I sit on the concrete floor with small laptop table in front of me 🙂 It's much comfortable than before. Edit 08/07/21: Bought a decent laptop with 50% funding from family. Ryzen 5 4600h, 8gb ram, gtx 1650, also got a desk and an office chair now.
I just set a reminder in 10 years with the link to this video, your username, and a note about asking you for an update. I hope comments are still a thing then and for you to be enjoying the setup of your dreams, whatever that is by then.
never have i ever subscribed in the first 10 minutes or watching the first video that youtube recomended to me... today is a different story... this is epic
your workspace is sacred. im currently saving up to upgrade mine. I dont spend much money on luxury but this is something i really wanna treat myself to
I just discovered this channel a few days ago, but I'm enjoying the content. it's bringing back good memories of my days working in the 3D Animation industry.
Your videos are always amazing, I'm a 5th-month student of computer animation and I have to say...... WOW!!!! Your setup was mind-blowing!!!! Loved it. Can't wait for your next video. Bet you loved Ryzen's Threadripper. I want one but I just have a Ryzen 7 1700 8-core, even then, Dragon (desktop) is half workstation and half gaming. You seem to have a good idea of having two!!! One day I will probably do the same. Keep up with the amazing videos!!!! Cheers!!!
Greetings, Sir Wade! Amazing setup here! Sad to here it's empty now but looking forward to the new setup! I've always noticed you've worked more on a display tablet in Maya, which is one of the reasons I acquired one. Do you have any recommendations on where to look to learn how to use Maya from a display tablet?
Sir Wade, you have some of the best tutorials on youtube. I'm trying to learn how to rig for video weapons and characters? Is that a video you'd ever consider doing here or on patreon? Any tips are helpful. Seriously, your tutorials for the basics are better than the ones I am finding on skillshare.
Since the good folks at Sideshow have now put out the full toothless family you're going to need some more shelf space. We're especially proud of the triplets.
@Sir Wade Neistadt, Play Bleder in VR! if you end up reading this I wanted to suggest maybe doing some blender xr stuff with your Oculus rift CV1. It's in the early stages and clunky at times, but mark my word it will be revolutionary! P.s. You're a shining example of what a teacher should be. Positivity mixed with the passion for the subject makes learning wonderful!
You surely inspired me, thanks. You are a wise guy, with a simplified and good life concept, thanks for the sharing ! I hope I can be as disciplined as you, soon !
It would be nice if you could make a video about 2 system setup, how you set up your stream in detail. It's just a request. And thank you for sharing this video.
I just got my custom configured Puget but newbie level. I edit sound, images, graphics, and video and just started working on visual effects (Ae so far). 3 hard drives 500, 500, 1Tb- does that seem right? I also want to stream from my computer but I have elgago Camlink and Magewell (both external cards for camera). Also, do you still love your monitors? I'm considering Benq PD3200u. Glad to see more Puget's out there. I'm very excited to see what my new baby can do compared to the specs that were limiting me. Thanks for recommending lighting and desk as well! Excited to learn more from your page!
Hello Sir congrats on a great video, your videos have really come a long way. I was wondering if it could be possible for you to do a video on stop motion animation or even just interview someone in the field. Thanks Ted
Hi Sir Wade, I've a specific question for you. I'm gonna make my own build for 3D animation and GPU rendering. Since I've research, i find myself in a CPU dilemma. My problem is I dont wanna lose fps when I'am animating with heavy rigs. So less core more Ghz (like your Intel build) would be better. On the other hand i'll also use this computer for GPU rendering so for dual or quad GPU Amd Threadripper is a must! I was wondering, have you tried make animations on your Amd Threadripper build? Which one was better sake of animation? Have you seen any significant fps drop difference? Thanks for the inspiring video.
Right now I’ll probably only get the stream decks because I’m not sure if I’ll like 3D animation and the stream decks looks like it would be great for 2D animation and maybe streaming
Well then, I guess that settles that question. I bought one of those 12 macro key mice years ago to save on wrist movement, and now my thumbs dead. Smart, hey?
ooh! I need the gaming mouse - I have and love the wired version, but hate the wire. I don't need the ultra-millisecond response rate of the wires anyway.
When working at Dreamworks did they have recommendations for setting the distance and position of your displays? I’ve been getting nauseous from looking at my screen all day and had to take a week off to let my eyes heal. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks for the great video!
Very nice! I gotta ask - what did you do with the Cintiq power brick/cable at standing height? Just let it dangle? Some neat cable solution under the desk?
I have an old hp 530 laptop no gpu only very old cpu Maya doesn't work latest version of blender doesn't work but blender 2.76 works learned animating from you wade since the first video and because of you wade I became a pro at animation please If anyone could help with a laptop it would be very help full and because of your help I would be successful because of you please wade anyone.😂
Hi Sir Wade I really love your video! It reminds me of that "Artist In Residence" section in Imagine FX magazine. I have this setup in my bedroom/studio. Alienware Aurora R8 w/liquid cooled Intel i9 9900K 8-Core processor w/overclocking. Dual Nvidia RTX 2080 Super graphics cards with SLi enabled with 8GB of video memory on each card. (Will swap out for latest Nvidia cards down the road. I just got this PC a few months ago) Blue Ray player/burner built in as well as 2TB SSD and 2TB traditional hard drive 850W Power Supply Alienware AW3418DW 34 inch curved wide screen monitor. XP-Pen Artist 24 Pro Dispay Tablet with 2K resolution. All this is set up on my L-shaped desk with built in bookshelves underneath which have some artbooks and I have a rack shelf stand which contain some of my heavier artbooks. I'm trying to break in the animation industry as a creator. Since I like anime, I'm running Open Toons as well as Clip Studio Paint on my PC. I also have Blender as well as Maya and Zbrush. I have an old production suite of Adobe software that I'm running too. I've thought about setting up a You Tube channel down the road, but for now I'm just trying to practice everyday to make sure my stuff is up to snuff.
