I’m a comic/ gaming concept artist and film editor, and I like Apple and I like pc when I was in school, so I’m building this pc/Mac hybrid setup.
As a 3D guy, I always used PC. Your PC is rad bro, building one is just not a thing right now. Mac has got the screen god powers, having a good screen with proper color is paramount for me. I use BenQ 4k color accurate monitors and love the huge work space for sculpting.
Being a PC User for almost 30 years now its interesting to hear your reasons to switch over.
I only used Macs for a short period during my Graphic Design School years and really didnt like it.
I never had Problems on a PC with stability or Performance but heavy problems with a Mac in terms of compatibility as soon as there is some not Apple product involved.
Which i never had with PC even if i work with Linux Guys.
So thats something i cant relate too but at the end it seems like im a more technical guy than you.
Anyways since i also love Gaming, the Mac was really never an Option to mee.
Love your content, learned tons of stuff over the years from you. Keep up the good work.
Yeah unless it’s work related the only thing I’m doing on the computer is email and web stuff. I have 1 game on the pc now it’s the stars wars vr one 😃
Great video, I'm not an animator just a videogame and anime fan but I do build PC's so that was interesting to hear about your transition and see the tablet you use.
You’re looking pretty jacked Tyler not gonna lie
Wow I love your new setup. Especially with all the warm lights ☺️
I do really love the simplicity of apple products, I tend to focus a lot with using them. I tend to use apple when I'm out or want something portable like with the IPad, but when it comes to doing my main work, I tend to use PC which is really nice to experiment, multitask and stuff for my needs. It's really nice to switch in between PC and the Ipad when I feel a bit unproductive or just want to change things up with my workflow. I love building computers and stuff growing up with that type of thing ever since I was a kid, I just get really bored sometimes so I always like tweaking things. I've been using the same computer for 10 years, though have been upgrading it bit by bit each time. I may buy a whole new setup when I get further along in my art journey or when the PC finally dies out, maybe in 5 years.
Amazing set-up
Thank you !
Pretty interesting to see the take from a long-time MAC user. I've been using PCs since I was a child and the only time I ever used a Mac was at school in like the 3rd grade.
Windows has been and always will be unstable, but it just allows you access to so much more.
Your new workspace setup is definitely much more comfortable than the old one. Much better.
Thanks for viewing !
Windows being unstable is fud, since windows 7 it has been pretty stable
Why would Windows always be unstable? During my time in School, I had more crashes on the MAC with the 3D software. I ended up in the PC-lab because it worked better.
But Windows being unstable is not a true statment at all. It really isn't unstable.
@@FlorrpaN yeah I can’t
Speak for anyone else’s opinion, but I have plenty of crashes since I have used it. That’s why I carefully worded everything “from my experience”
@@TylerEdlin84 Older versions of windows were very unstable. I remember having crashes multiple times a week and finding it normal. These days I get them maybe 1-2 times a year with 10+ hours of computer use per day.
That being said you're more prone to hardware crashes because having free choice allows you to buy garbage too, but also if you don't really keep your drivers/firmware up to date. The quality of the Windows experience will be influenced by your ability to use it properly basically.
Love your studio setup especially your Alienware PC! I have an Aurora R8 PC with the i9 9900K and Dual RTX 2080 Super graphics cards. that I bought a year ago. I have Clip Studio Paint and it's really good if you want to do traditional anime and manga. I also have Blender. I haven't played with that much, but I'm going try to learn how to do 2.5D animation that can be seen in games or anime like Honkai Impact 3rd, Genshin Impact, anything made by Arc System Works, and Batman Ninja. The Final Fantasy stuff alone deserves a subbed!
painfull to read dual 2080 and i use CLIP STUDIO Paint :P
Ah, finally the new setup tour! Really nice ambient lighting
All I can do is make my $15,000 dream setup in my Amazon list and wait for a logical reason to get it.
Love the new set up. Man those retro consoles and figures are 🔥 I want a set up like that one day 😬
Love love love the sett up. 2 years later. Lets get an updated work station. Also would love a non full timelapse of how you create. Maybe explain whats going on, time lapse through that. Maybe slow it back down here and there four techniques. I too have a background in creative sweets. Due to lifethough ihave been outof design for a few years and buying a 3d printer has resparked my passion. Inthe middle of builing my pc. Planning on learning blender and ticker cad for functional 3d printed items. Its been about 8 years and the options have grown so immensely its rough whereto think to start. So for now i build lol
Hi Tyler! I love your tutorials and art thanks for all the videos! I just have a question regarding Mac vs Pc, so I'm trying to get the new IMAC computer 2021 and debating whether to get that besides the PC. It is primarily for 2D art photoshop work and nothing 3D. Is it worth it? and I'm worried because it has only 8GB of Ram which I think would slow down if I get massive layers.
Get a Mac for sure if you are staying in 2d. But I would certainly try to get 16 or 32 ram
Thanks for a video! PC user all my life and now i think to buy a MBP on m1 for my sculpting work in zbrush. In case to have a portable work station with me in travelling. Watched all the content on RUclips, and some artist says that is pretty great performance for sculpt on. I don't do a heavy renders or animation work
I ditched from Mac to pc in 2019 after a workshop on building in vr with medium, and boarding in Quill. I miss macs though.
amazing your setup, which keyboard is shown at the beginning in the intro? 0:40
I do comics /monster designs/ and zbrush concept art, I like 🖥 PC,z ,, easy to use and cheap. Even my dad would say the same thing.
damn now thats a flex 🤩
Preach! I do (did) most of my 3d on my Win pc. It crashed last year and it’s now sitting at a repair place for diagnostic; I’m in a waitlist that could take months because they’re so backed up.
An equivalent Mac is prohibitively expensive so, I’m stuck with the PC. Trying the new M1mini, so we’ll see how that goes.
Great work setup!
lol why are you waiting that long?
over a year? Seriously ? ask for your PC/Money back and just find someone on gumtree that will repair it in 15 minutes.
maybe you should have tried mac pro instead of imac you could upgrade with no problem.
I was a long time Window user before I switched to Mac and I really started liking it from the beginning since it's pretty user- friendly .I don't know but the simplicity of mac/IOS interface is the reason why most of us like to use apple products, not to mention stability.
Personally, I really dislike Windows UI and I hate dealing with bugs and viruses which is was the main reason why I stopped using PC computers.
I agreee with everything you said
Hi do you use a thunderbolt dock or something similar and do you connect your Wacom to the dock or to your computer/laptop?
I just use the wire directly nothing particularly special
I use Macs just because they're stable.
Windows crashes so many times, it is so annoying, and I just hate it.
The most I hate, is when I'm working and then it will update in the middle of my work, and I hate that!
I never had this issue with Mac, I just plug it in, and start working.
But with windows I spend more time trying to get things setup, and that is time wasted, that could go into actual work.
After about 15 years of using both I have PC and then use ipads. Love Apple but I prefer to fix and upgrade my own computer. I find going to the techs too expensive and annoying where as with a PC I can just order what I need and fix it myself at home for cheap. Apple is nice though and I've had issues with the PC that make me want to move over. It's so hard to decide what to do for my next workstation PC. It's a big purchase as I need a powerful computer for my work.
Very pro
I think this guy maybe a Final Fantasy fan.
Blue Yeti mic should not be turned towards your mouth, but stay parallel to it.
Do you recommend Mac or windows for someone looking to get into 3d environment art?
Did you watch the whole video? Tyler says which he thinks is better choice for 3D and AR.
My new MacBook Pro MAx rocks my my Cintiq, I guess is a personal preference
Macs for digital painting, photo editing, video creation are the top
I want to start learning concept art and painting Where do you recommend me to learn Can the patreon teach me?
It can teach a lot there are about 100 videos you get access to.
@@TylerEdlin84 Is there a guide to painting landscapes?
@@Niren934 www.brushsauceacademy.com/patreon-timelapse check the categories on the left or drop down menu. You can seee the all the lessons you would get access to
I hope you set up that system restore.
I have no idea what that is guess I need to look into it
Since you got a new pc, have you procrastinated playing video games?
Not much I finally made a steam account and bought two games though
If you need to upgrade your entire pc setup just simply move your ssd and or hardrives, you can have like 5 based on your motherboard
That’s beyond me, believe it when I say I don’t do any hardware things, it just gives me pure anxiety. I’ll ride this rig out and then just get a whole new one.
@@TylerEdlin84 you just open up the front and back panels, look at a chart of your motherboard, plug the big ssd or hardrive into the power supply and then to motherboard using the sata cable. There are even tutorials for everything now. For the small ssd one you just unscrew it from the motherboard and then pull it out then put it in the new setup. It has a second screw inside the motherboard to give it height so it can properly float above the board. Upgrading memory is usually either pluging it in like a Gameboy cartridge amd then screwing it in or literally pluging two wires that are very distinct.
Now apple just released new macbook with hdmi, SD and magsafe, and with stronger GPUs. Also Apple joined the Blender foundation! the benchmarks between windows and mac will be fun to see.
in the end its about preference and reliability. I change pc every 3-4 years anyway since I tend to move regularly I prefer laptops so im seriously considering my next upgrade to be a macbook
What kind of computer do you use ?
He said in his video it was a top-of-the-line Alienware, he even posted specs on it. @6:32
I guess you're my long lost father now
all people should be computerpeople... duunn dun duuunnnn
I'm curious. Have you ever stopped and figured out what you've spent on all of your various hardware from the beginning of your interest in anything digital, i.e.: computers, gaming consoles, etc.? All the "stuff" you're showing in this video, blows me away!
Never mind, don't figure it out. Wouldn't want it to depress you. 😱
-switched from mac to pc (good call!)
-buying alienware (oh god)
Talks about unable to update Macs but then gets an Alienware of all PCs 🤦🏻♂️ same thing. Aside from that love the discussion 😂
Well I was making a generalization of what people usually think. Right that’s why lots of people get pc for upgrades. Personally Like macs I needed an idiot proof pc because I won’t upgrade, I have no idea how nor am I interested
Alienware is bad quality. They overheat easily, which causes severe stability issues. I wouldn't recommend one of those systems with a gun to my head.
(Yes, I know they're expensive as hell. Makes it even more disappointing. That's why most people who need a good PC never go with pre-builts)
I have zero issues Witt hardware here. Have experienced nothing going bad With the tech. It’s built really strong and well.
