Offline Method:
This method involves changing the date/time of your console. If you do not agree with this method, an online method is included below.
1. Go to "My Games & Apps" then "Apps" then "Settings" then "Network" and then "Go offline" & "Forget Wireless Network"
2. Hard reset your console by holding the power button for 5-10 seconds.
3. Sign in and go to "My Games & Apps" then "Apps" then "Settings" then "System" and then change the date to any of the follow dates:
January 1st (New Year's Day): Make Love Not War
April 22nd (Earth Day): A skull with a recycling sign
May 5th (Cinco De Mayo): Toady Was Live!
July 4th (Independence Day): BBQ at Bob's
October 31st (Halloween): A grave stone that has the initials "R.I.P."
November 11th (Veteran's Day): Kilroy Was Here
December 25th (Christmas): A Christmas light with an “X” marked through it
4. With the changed date, load Halo MCC, select a custom game in Halo 3 on Valhalla.
5. Go to the turret side and look at the white sign/symbol on the large metal wall.
6. Go to your settings and change the date again to another one listed above.
7. Go back into Halo MCC, and view the new sign on the wall in the Halo 3 map.
8. Go to "My Games & Apps" then "Apps" then "Settings" then "Network" and connect to your wireless connection by selecting it and entering the password. The achievement will unlock as soon as your Xbox connects to Xbox Live.
Online Method:
This achievement requires you to view two date specific signs on the multiplayer map Valhalla in Halo 3. The date are as follows:
January 1st (New Year's Day): Make Love Not War
April 22nd (Earth Day): A skull with a recycling sign
May 5th (Cinco De Mayo): Toady Was Live!
July 4th (Independence Day): BBQ at Bob's
October 31st (Halloween): A grave stone that has the initials "R.I.P."
November 11th (Veteran's Day): Kilroy Was Here
December 25th (Christmas): A Christmas light with an “X” marked through it
On one of these days, in your local timezone, you will need to load a custom game in Halo 3 on Valhalla, and then go to the turret side and look at the white sign/symbol on the large metal wall. On the dates listed above, the sign will be unique and the achievement will unlock after viewing two of them!
to those who wanna do it on pc. here's the steps:
- change your date to dec 25
- turn Internet off, restart computer
- launch mcc (steam in offline mode)
- do the process. change the date mid game (like in the video to jan 1)
- exit the game, revert your time send date, reconnect to the Internet
- relaunch mcc. you should have them achievements :)))

I can confirm on PC that you can do it by just changing the dates. You *DON'T* have to go offline.

Still works as of 5/25/2020. I did have to do this entire process two separate times though. It only gave me 50% completion for following these exact instructions so I did the process another time and then it popped. Thanks for the guide.
Can confirm the method still works as of today. Just takes a bit of time, patience, and persistence as it can take a little bit for the achievement to unlock on your account and may require more than one attempt even if instructions are followed.

July 26th 2020: Works fine on PC. On Windows 10 you need to turn off automatic date/time in your settings. Easy to turn back on after.
As shown in video you can change the date mid-game.
i saw them but my achievement didnt pop
It doesn't work for me, I don't get any achievement, and once I'm done viewing the sigils and go back to normal time and exit the game, my game crashes

It works as of February 2020, might just take a couple tries / date changes . Then wait about 10 mins or so for it to pop

I just checked it out in Forge mode. My achievement progress still shows 0% for the achievement. Hmm...
I have done this exactly how you showed and no achievement. It worked for the Zanzibar one, which is even more weird.
It doesn't even say "unlocking", it's just stuck at 0%.

John Zoldos I've gotten it to work. You need to end the game, before you go back online. Like, completely quit out of it. Appareantly, today is also a special day, so you can do it legit, if you already have one visit. There should be an Earth symbol, I've been told.

This still worked for me today. I got it on the third try using different dates every time. Once I finished my game it popped for me after like 2 minutes. Follow the exact steps.
try this whit the new update is harder to get this achievement (2019) desconnect your WiFi then restart then switch the date, enter Valhalla map and see the sign for 20 seconds then switch to other date see that sign like for 10 seconds then reconnect the WiFi and then see the sign until it disappear because of the wifi changing date, this should give you a 50% of the achievement if you want to do the other 50 you repeat the process whit 2 different signs that’s how I do it

Still works as of June 6th, 2020. When you do it, go to the ‘Achievements’ tab, and just sit there. It unlocked after a minute of just sitting there

Took fucking ages to register though, randomly popped while I was in the lobby having given up on the achievement(s) after repeating the process about five times...

@@toughluck8012 hmm, it didn't work for me for whatever reason? After I went back online it just kicked me off the game and I got no achievements.
@@charliew9388 what I did is disconnect my xbox from wifi and pulled out the ethernet while mcc was launched. Then I turned my xbox completely off with a power cycle. Then I turned it back on, launched mcc, went to my xbox settings and changed the date, then launched a private match on the correct map and found the sigil. Then I went back into my xbox settings and changed the date again, went back into mcc and saw the other sigil. Then I went to my settings and reconnected both my wifi and ethernet and went back into mcc. The sigil was gone and I then closed the match and then the game and power cycled my xbox one more time. Then I finally got it when I logged back into mcc. Hope this helped

This doesn't seem to work with the latest update.
As of 01-16-2020 this method still works. I just unlocked it. Follow Maka's steps exactly and you'll be fine. It took a few minutes for the achievement to unlock after reconnecting. I did a hard reset again after doing all the steps and it was unlocked.
hey guys it totally worked for me without hard-reseting the console and deleting the wireless connection. I just went offline, shut down the console, booted it up normally, it did not connect, i changed the date, started the game and went on valhalla, changed the date as in the video and then closed the game and instantly went online in the settings again and just restarted the game. totally worked for me.

July 10, 2020 still works & I have the xbox one x. Just took couple of minutes to kick in the achievements once I connected to the internet.
can confirm it works as of June 28 2020. although you might have to wait a while and/or sit in the achievements tab and wait for it to pop. cheers
This still does work. It took me a few trys but after going back online abt 20mins later the achievement popped up.

finally something useful they've done for us!
im on pc (linux to be specific), I did the offline method in halo 2 zanzibar and it worked, but for this, i tried, for fun, to do it completely online and it worked, changed my system time to 1-1-2024, saw first sign, went back to main menu, changed time to 04-22-2024 saw 2nd sign and got achievment
Just to help those who might be following the Offline instructions with the recent Xbox One updates:
1) From the Home screen, move the left thumb stick to the left to bring up the side menu, and select "Settings," "All settings," and then "Network settings."
2) Select "Go offline," and then select "Forget Wireless Network."
3) Hard boot your console by holding down the power button to turn it off (or place your finger in front of it if you have a motion sensor power button), waiting 10-15 seconds, and turning the box back on; you should be automatic signed into you XboxLive account.
4) From the Home screen, move the left thumb stick to the left to bring up the side menu, and select "Settings," "All settings," "System," and then "Time."
5) Change the "Date" to any of the selected dates Maka91Productions shows above.
6) Load Halo The Master Chief Collection, select "Multiplayer," "Custom Game," "Halo 3," and the map of "Valhalla." Note: it doesn't matter what game type you choose to load, though the default selection of "Slayer" works fine.
7) Go to the Bruteshot's spawn point on the turret side of the map, and view the white sign/symbol directly above it on the large metal wall.
8) Press the home button on your controller to return to the Home screen, move the left thumb stick to the left to bring up the side menu, and select "Settings," "All settings," "System," and then "Time."
9) Change the "Date" to any of the other selected dates Maka91Productions shows above.
10) Reopen Halo The Master Chief Collection to resume your previously selected game: you should now see a different sign/symbol, this being the second one you have viewed.
11) Press the home button on your controller to return to the Home screen, move the left thumb stick to the left to bring up the side menu, and select "Settings," "All settings," and then "Network settings."
12) Select "Set up a wireless network," select your correct network, enter your networks password, and select "Continue" once you see the message, "It's all good." It might take several minutes (depending on your internet speeds) but you will unlock the achievement once your Xbox One has successfully reconnected to XboxLive.

Hi everyone, I can confirm this still works as of December 24th, 2019! Just tried it to register 50% of the achievement as tomorrow is Christmas and it worked! Follow the instructions exactly!

After I changed the date I couldn't even get on halo because I wasn't online. It was giving me some message that I needed to be online.

For PC just set you PC date to Dec 25, launch MCC, look at sign,exit match, close game, change date to a second date that works(i used July 4th), restart MCC, go back into the map and look at it again, then it'll work.

Worked for me. It didn't pop and kept telling me I was offline. Rebooted the xbox and checked and there they were! Thanks for the tutorial.
I did this the natural way by setting alarms in my phone and actually seeing them on the right days and it didn't work. lol it's funny that this is working for all the people doing it the offline way, but not for me doing it the legit way...
I got it to work. Pretty obvious fix. Right when it hit me I knew exactly what was wrong bc it's happened to me before. (I'm on Xbox) All I had to do is fully quit out of the game, like close it down and restart it, then reload up Valhalla and go look at the sign again and it popped. I came back to add this comment instead of just deleting my original comment just in case it helps someone else out in the future.
For people with a password on your account it won't work, take the password off your account and then try it, settings > sign in > type you password in > then choose No barriers. then follow Maka's instructions. I had the same problem when trying to access my account after the hard reset but then i took the password off and it worked

It was giving me a problem after the hard reset that I needed to enable the games in order to play the actual game, so what I did to enable games to play offline I wen Settings>my Xbox> my home Xbox>make this my home Xbox > make this my home Xbox again then try all the steps that maka said. It does work this is awesome. Thanks makas guide.

December 15th 2020 on Xbox One: Can confirm the offline method does still indeed work.
Achievement didn’t pop up until 20 minutes after I signed back online so be aware it may take some time.
Oct 2022: Method STILL WORKS on Xbox Series S with digital edition of MCC.
Works on MCC PC; just change your Windows clock while playing.

You can do this on PC just adjust the date manually there is no need to disconnect from the internet in fact it works better if you don't
I did the steps listed below in the comments for PC, was able to see the vigils, but did not receive the achievement. I submitted a ticket to Halo Support.

So many convoluted achievements you have to set a date reminder for. I don’t want to reset my Xbox. This achievement is more annoying than Megg.
MCC PC players: just set Window's date manually each time before launching Halo, don't need to bother restarting your PC or turning off the internet.

After I seen both signs offline. Went straight to settings changed to online, never exiting the game and it logged me out. Said I would have to log back in. Game was back at main menu. I think their updates they are releasing stopped this. At least for me.

ghostbusterdal1 for me it didnt work the first time either but i tried again and waited a few minutes in the lobby after the private match i started then the achievement popped up
That achievement on Valhalla is very hard even for me and my XboxOne broke and I ain't doing that Achivement.
