You got it man. I just got done bursting every blood vessel with Halo 2 par scores, now I'm going through your Halo 3 par scores which is much easier since Halo 3 isn't as difficult. LASO will be the last thing I do so I'm pumped you have guides for all of them. Not looking forward to it though haha!

I just spent 70 min patiently killing everything in this level with the bandana skull on to realize the flood won't stop spawning near the end of the level. I then made a run for it just to get my first death 5 meters from the index at the end of the level. FML

This way's *sooo* much easier than spending 2 hours killing every wave of each section, only to die in that last tunnel you skipped and throwing the controller across the desk.

You have guides for every single achievement, which is nice, and it's freaking hilarious whenever you say "which is nice", it's like a meme of yours or something. Got this achievement on heroic w/ bandana skull on. Died once but immediately saved and quit, and resumed and it still gave it to me. Thank you for the guide it made it quicker and easier knowing which areas I could skip :)

Using the save and quit I was able to do it on legendary within par time with par score as well! This guide has made this level so much less of a pain
@@yincimaster8530 hey, can you explain how the save and quit works please? do you mean that when you die, quit and load back in at last check point?
@@damianmccartan6148 yes exactly that. When you die instantly save and quit, when you load back in you'll go to your last checkpoint but it won't count your death. It's used in LASO also to get around the Iron skull
That Hook reference was dope. One of the best movies of all time by far. It was my favorite movie growing up.
I did it and died three times. You just have to save and quit after you die before getting the next checkpoint.

Thank you so much man, took me awhile but i finally got it. I wasn't confident enough to do the grenade jump so i went under on the 4th level instead. For those who are curious 3 carries spawn behind if you stay to long beneath so watch your back. Again really easy to follow guide thank so much Silver keep up the good work :)

this is for the people who have attempted this achievement and have followed this guide though can't seem to achieve the achievement. before i tell you another working method, @halocompletionist your guide for this achievement is legendary and the commentary was direct and funny at times, congratulations on achieving this achievement! I'd suggest for the people who are finding this achievement still difficult to beat while following this guide to use my working method, which is... to start this mission on heroic difficulty with the unlimited ammo skull activated (remember, skulls that only score zero points ONLY disables achievements for par score and par time completions ONLY). go easy on the unlimited grenades you achievement hunters, because one might bounce back and eliminate you 😆

Thanks so much dude.... HOWEVER, on the second floor when you tell us to watch out for the rocket launcher combat form... BOOM the run was ruined for me. BUT, right after I died I paused and saw people talk about the 'save & quit' cheese and I did just that. Resumed from my last checkpoint completed the run and the achievement popped!
"And I'm like FUCK my FACE." I died lauging!!! Totally going to subscribe, because of the mix of humor and learning!!!

I know I'm way behind but thank you for such a simple to follow and more practical guide. :) I've been playing Halo for over ten years now, but I am still not too good at the whole not dying thing :p. But thankfully, with this guide, I was able to get this achievement :). My Halo completionist ways are now one closer :3.

I finally got this achievement after years of trying... Seriously, I got it today, and the last one I got was Look Out for the Little Guys in OCTOBER OF 2019! I don't believe the save and quit trick works anymore, at least, not for the remaster (as in not the MCC) version. Also, I made my way through without dying once or twice with Bandanna on, and it didn't pop. So fair warning to anyone who wants to try with that on. Finally, I usually get overexcited in the final run to the Index and get killed by the combat forms that spawn in that room. On my successful run today, I went around to the far side of the room. Jumping over the barriers to the left, instead of to the right. There is another bridge to the Index on the far side, so you can finish the level while completely avoiding any enemies in that room.

It's not that hard
Count 1-ee, 2-ee, jump & crouch while moving forward...easy that way
I died about 4 times, but used the save & quit / resume method each time, and still got the par time AND achievement! Great guide!

Can confirm that as of September 2020, saving and quitting before you respawn after you die then restarting the level still works - you can totally get the achievement this way! Just did it on the PC using this method

@cheggers! The only achievements affected by non-scoring skulls are the level completion, campaign difficulty completion, par score, and par time. The rest can be done with any skull you want I'm pretty sure.

to be clear: I just did this, died 3 times and pressed start>save and quit>resume mission and I GOT the achievement, so THIS METHOD WORKS, also I used the bandana skull and I was playing on heroic

Thanks I got it first try without any reverts by watching this. Collected both skulls and the terminal as well. It's very daunting at first but not that bad once you get stuck into it. Rocket flood is the main danger.

Ended up getting this whilst doing Library on SLASO, so it's pretty neat that it works really well with the Iron skull trick of save/quitting.
Much easier than people might think, the grenade jump at the start is super useful. Just take it slow where you need to, use bandana skull and it's really easy. Spam grenades. The parts where you may die are where there are shotgun flood or rocket flood, as they can randomly one-shot you but if you do die just instantly go to the menu, quit and choose to resume. I died once early on and it works fine to quit and resume.
Played it like normal and finished in 20 minutes.
I got this achievement when I was blackout drunk and didn't even know it until the notification popped up lol

This can still be done with acrophobia skull & bandana gang. Just be careful not to fly too far, too fast from the monitor - you’ll end up skipping checkpoints & enemies won’t spawn

I got this without any tactics. I literally had to fight my way and dodged the rocket Flood..one of them actually killed themselves by accident.
When you beat the MCC on Legendary and forget about all the achievements so you watch gods play it so you don't spend days on one mission. Thank you so much!
I, today, 7-24-24 have impressed a fair maiden using the techniques I learned by watching this video.
Can confirm on Feb 2021 that saving and quitting right as you die (like in LASO gameplay) will still get you the achievement.
Works on PC's MCC with Bandana.
The hardest part for me was getting the grenade jump right at the start, rest was easy if you take your time and nade everything.
Tip! Use sputnik skull to make that grenade jump that everyone seems to be complaining about a lot easier.

I found out if you die and revert before the game reverts you automatically, you WON'T get the achievement.

I think this achievement is giving me a taste of the frustration I'll get from doing the LASO runs
My friend Steve and I have been busting our asses trying to beat this without dying. Chain reaction explosions are what's holding us back.

I did it! Once I managed the first grenade jump on the box and over the wall at the very beginning I got it in 1 run with Bandana Skull active, thank you Silver
I got this achievement completely on accident without even knowing it existed. For one reason.
Restarting at checkpoints doesn't count as deaths. I was getting frustrated at this point so I just started doing that when I knew I was going to die, since it was much faster than waiting for the death, plus the natural respawn that follows.
Tip for anyone that can't do nade jumps take your time pick off enemies. It will take about an hour, don't be afraid of running away and coming back, take note of the rocket flood i did this solo on heroic first time trying nothing fancie just slow and steady
I thought this was the hardest achievement in anniversary but I just got it on MCC again almost 10 years later on my first try on Heroic. GG :)
Anytime you say in the video we can use the bandana skull...then I go nuts with the advantageous skulls. Bandana, scarab, invis, all that stuff.
honestly if you got bandana, take your time. -_- follow HC's guide but just for knowing where enemies are and the short cuts. Otherwise, use your unlimited ammo to clear the way and safely make it to the end.
halo completionist thank you helped me out alot me and my buddy tried doing it together but he died and kinda figured out it would be easier solo since non of you can die i just got it myself thank you very helpful tips saved me alot of trouble with those shortcuts
done it, thans knowing where to go, makes this a whole lot more possible

Rocket floods shooting me as soon I turned a corner and flood carriers causing chain explosions were my worst enemy.

reverting to last checkpoint doesn't work if you are wondering but saving and quitting as soon as you die (before respawn) will work

Somehow did this during my laso play through, if you die just simply save and quit before you get sent back to your check point

***THIS ACHIEVEMENT DOES NOT WORK ON COOP*** If you stay behind and not die once and your friend takes out all the enemies for you and you finish the level THE ACHIEVEMENT WILL NOT UNLOCK. It must be done by yourself and no one else. It doesn’t tell you that so I am.
Pretty cool guide, and an effective one using loading points to despawn enemies.
I just completed it, and doing the whole damn thing, no bandana skull, shotgun and pistol. On the run where I finally made it, I must have had two or three heart attacks in the sealed rooms and was one bar away from dying when I stumbled over the health pack.
I played on Heroic, but it felt like Legendary when you have only one rule: Don't Die.
Thank God that enemies don't respawn everywhere in the level. Picking off combat forms at a distance really helped me out, especially those rocket launcher guys, who maybe killed me two or three times.
Yup. Did it with bandana on Anniversary, so I owed it to myself to do it vanilla just to prove to myself that I could. I hate this level.

13:20 Looked up Library guides on RUclips for this specific part. Funnily enough I actually found the spot, just started chucking grenades with the bandana on and they swarmed me. Hope it works for me

Can't make the first jump from the box to the top of the dividing wall right at the beginning. You make it look so easy, but Chief doesn't make the jump every single time I try. It's like there's an invisible wall or something up there and it's driving me nuts. The distance looks the same as from box to box which is easily jumped, but from box to wall Chief keeps acting like he's hitting something and falling straight down. Is there some special trick to getting up there? :(
In the anniversary edition, Save And Quit and also Revert To Save both do not work for this achievement. You need to do the whole level in one go without dying or you won't get the achievement.

Yes. My kid finally made it up there so I just hung out in the first area until he got far enough ahead to teleport me. We finally got the achievement - that was a difficult one!

As of 3 august 2018 save and quit and resume does work for the achievement in anniversary.
I did this today with a friend. We're doing all of CE and Legendary and as I joke I suggested we try to go for this achievement. First try, we got it, took us like 53 minutes though... but we got it.

You can grenade jump in CE with Plasmas. They just have a longer fuse time but I think you go farther if you time it right.
Generally the tips given here are basically what the classic speedrunners use, before flood bump was a thing.
Just make use of the time properly along with cover and ramps and nade proper areas and u can get thru really easily.
Recommend to play easy multiple times, u get an idea where they spawn. Spawn areas don't change on difficulty for Library. Only the quantity and aggression increases.

I'm playing on heroic and everything is going as planned except for I get no shot gun guy this is the third time I've approached that area and I never got shot gun guy

Heads up to anyone doing this, I died at the last part and before I respawned or loaded back to the last checkpoint. I quickly saved and quit and I resumed from the title screen and I still got the achievement! I hope this helps someone lol

At the start I can make the grenade jump with no problem but its that fucking second jump I keep missing. I've tried backing up and getting a running start and I've tried jumping from the edge with no success so its the long way around for me.
Yeah, the jumping in CE is weird. You kinda have to hit the jump button before you want to jump.
Rocket flood get me every time.

You made a speed run for "Speed Reader" achievement for CEA. But, seeing this as has better graphics and the time is almost the same, can I use this for that achievement too? I'm super afraid to trying it but stack 2 achvs seems pretty dope honestly, want to try it too.

Got this today while doing the level on LASO.
I tried completing this level on Heroic and I kept dying. I switched to Legendary and got it my first attempt. If you die, just Save/Quit real quick and it should still register, thats what my brother did. I wish I knew that the first attempt lmao
