What they didn't tell you is no contestant had even heard him before this program. He was picked as a wild card for the show and he went first. He has pitch perfect and so much control and can hold a note for over 24 seconds. All the contestants are really good also. He always thanks the maestro for his music. Very humble person. If you close your eyes it sounds like 4 or more individuals singing.
It's not only possible, he can hit what I call a Dolphin Register.

That little smile just before the final phrase said it all. It's incredible to think that he was the first to perform in this competition and he was TOTALLY unknown to the audience!
In actual fact, Dimash was very nervous here, He was in China, alone, without his family, knowing everyone else in the show were established popular singers and Dimash was unknown. If you watch that whole episode of I am Singer, you see him waiting to go on first and he is shuffling his feet and clenching his fists and yet as soon as he was on stage, he is immediately putting on a performance. Dimash also composes, directs, dances, is hardworking, humble and respectful.

They chop up the songs and they also lied to Dimash. Dimash asked them if he would be competing against children and they said no but he found out in the finals the truth. He quit and gave up 1 million because it was against his culture to complete with kids. He came in second place only because it was against their rules for a foreigner to win.the next year that rule was changed and Jesse J won.Thank for your reaction and stay safe.

Thank you for getting to know Dimash! He is the best singer on the planet. He is 23 in the clip, and 26yrs now. He has been singing/performing/training literally his whole life. He has said that if you cut open his heart you will find music, if you cut open his brain you will find music. He sings in 12- 14 languages and many genres. He has 6+ octave range. Plays multiple instruments. This is the performance that gained him world wide fame and a fan base called 'Dears' (because they are dear to him.) This is just the tip of the iceberg. Dimash is prolific and has done multiple quality music videos, movie trailers, game songs, individual performances, incredible concerts all over the world, a recent on line concert and more. He is humble, kind, giving, loves his family and country of Kazakhstan. He is gorgeous and 6' 3". He has a fun sense of humor and is playful. He lives for music. He is highly trained in classical, jazz, pop, folk etc. etc. He lived in China for 3 yrs and did some beautiful work there. The Russian composer, Igor Krutoy, came out of retirement to work with Dimash. Together they have composed several pieces especially for his range. Not Dymash but Dimash, who is a phenomenon from Kazakhstan, he started singing lessons and 5 when it was found he has perfect pitch. He is university educated with degrees in classical opera, another in contemporary music, pop and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and has just (18th June 2020) completed his Masters specialising in Composition, and receiving his Masters degree with Honours, having achieved the maximum score of 100% and has just started his PhD. His range is over 6 octaves (almost 7 now) but Dimash is dismissive and says it's not how big your range is but what you do with it. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a decorated national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He sings in 12 different languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is pretty good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin which he says is a very hard language to learn but again he is doing well with it.
In this performance he was 22 and in a competition for famous professional singers in China he was invited as a wildcard and after this one song was catapulted to worldwide stardom and became a pop superstar in China. He is also famous in Russia mainly for his neo classical work with Igor Krutoy and many of those works are very operatic, but he has now introduced pop songs there too. His vocals range from a rich bass baritone through to an extremely high soprano and his whistle register and has hit a D8 for 5 seconds with vibrato. He was on a solo world tour and in his concerts he sings for around 3 hours with an eclectic mix of styles. He is from a very musical family both parents and his sister sing, mother is a soprano. Dimash was offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to follow his own path and he has been very successful thus far, but I suspect world domination will soon come his way. He is a multi instrumentalist too and is very competent with 8 instruments but can play just about anything. He is 26 now, and is mostly known as a live performer, he has released a triple platinum album ( platinum in 37 seconds, triple platinum in under an hour) and a new album will be released soon.
It has been recognised that his high notes are not whistle, but head voice, Dimash rarely uses his whistle register but when he does its spectacular like everything else about him. He has billions of fans worldwide and I am definitely one of them, and he calls us his Dears, as we are all as dear to him as his family, and he means it, he knows who helped to make him famous. He is a softly spoken, polite, elegant and very humble respectful young man. He deserves every bit of the success he is having, he has worked very hard for the past 20 plus years and now his dreams as a young 5 year old are coming true. There is an interview he did for BBC World Service in 2018 where the interviewer showed a drawing he did when he was 5 of him singing on a big stage with microphones, speakers and his beloved music cassettes showing his desire to be where he is now. His recent sellout world tour has been postponed due to the covid-19 epidemic but will restart when its safe to do so. He has concerts lined up in Dusseldorf, Prague and Minsk there will be others around the world including South America. Ah, Daniel, you've just stepped very close to another rabbit-hole...I was involved with music for over 50-years of my life, listened to more singers in more genres than you could shake a stick at, and I have *never* heard anyone this talented, period, full-stop. Some has to be genetic: his Father is nationally known as a Kazakh folk-singer while his Mother is an operatic soprano. But, a lot is sheer determination and study...the old joke, "How do you get to Carnegie Hall? At 26 almost 27 Dimash is world famous. COVID put an end to concerts for awhile but not before he had his first US Concert at Barclay Center in New York. People came from 60 plus countries and almost all of the U.S. states. You can go to his Official Channel and pull up the New York Concert of his famous first concert, Bastau. Dimash plans to come to the states to study and become more well known in the states.
You won't be listening to his music on the radio or seeing him often on Western television, but this artist's fan base is larger and more loyal than some of the most famous and international pop stars.
People will fight you online if you pronounce the wrong name, your fans will spend hours watching your videos, opening fan clubs around the world and leaving long comments on RUclips with the story of each song. They are obstinate and well prepared. My question was necessary at this point. What made these people so close to him, and what does he have that other artists don't?
He doesn't need paid advertising because his fans will do it for free. They genuinely love this artist so much that they want to make him known at all costs. Some claim he provides them to overcome depression, others say he has changed their lives with his music, some fans even believe he is an angel or a superhuman. If you send in that Michael Jackson had some diehard fans, Dimash fans, who call themselves Dears, are clearly above them all.
As soon as I heard his voice, I was immediately impressed in 2017. No wonder his fans are obsessed, his voice is incredible and, at first glance, he also seemed like a very humble person. The 26-year-old Kazakhstan artist reached stardom for the first time after participating in some national competitions and spreading his fame abroad, taking second place in the Chinese program - I Am A Singer 2017-. In this show, he was the youngest participant to compete against established and professional Chinese artists.
One of the songs I heard him sing was a popular "S.O.S d'un terrien en détresse". A French song by Daniel Balavoine.
I was immediately impressed by his incredible technique and delivery. His vocal training is formally classic, but he can sing pop songs extremely well. Your choice of original songs and covers is never obvious and always leaves the listener in awe. What shocks me the most is the use of the vocal fry technique. He manages to hit super low notes and jump to highs so perfectly, without ever failing. Above all, the most impressive feature of his voice is the use of the "whistle".
I never heard a man use this technique before Dimash. Sorry Mariah, but her whistles are incredible. You just need to listen to his songs for yourself, because it is impossible to explain this talent with words.
His vocal range is incredible. Its length is 6 octaves and 5 semitones, ranging from a low A1 to an incredible D8.
Observing this, the highest note male record is an F # 8 and Dimash is only 3 semitones from him, I wonder if one day he would try to beat the record. Another thing that caught my attention, was the perfect pitch always impeccable .
He is probably the only singer who has never been challenged on any score, which is why many people have given the nickname "Alien".
But impeccable technique and interpretation are not Dimash's only qualities. We learned about his humanity at the -Best show in the world-, a reality show competition, where he competed in 2019.

Dimash's resignation was, in my opinion, an altruistic and humble act. It takes a great man to give up his dreams to maintain his integrity, and that is what we saw in this incredible artist.
The American show increased the popularity of the Kazakh singer abroad, so much so that one of his songs, in Kazakh language, debuted on MTV USA in October 2020.
The love for his country and his honesty are always visible in all his performances. Each of his concerts always includes cultural aspects related to his country, such as the use of private instruments for accompaniment or traditional clothing and singing styles. I think the choice to sing in your native language was anything but casual. I believe that one of his goals is to increase the popularity and recognition of his country.

Great reaction, Daniel! The truly ludicrous thing about this performance of SOS is that it only scratches the surface of what Dimash can do. In fact, I've told friends that you really don't understand the depth and breadth of Dimash's range, control, styles, and transcendental talent until you've watched 4 or 5 of his performances. Then you begin to realize that every time you think you've seen his whole bag of tricks, the next performance will surprise you all over again with something new. I don't say this lightly: He truly is both a phenomenon and a modern master. If you continue your journey down the Dimash rabbit hole (and I sincerely hope that you do), here are a few performances I'd suggest checking out to begin to give you the sense of how vast his talent really is:

There are at least three parts in this song that make every singer's, producer's, and vocal coach's eyes bug out when they hear them. The song is in Russian but has CC which I suggest turning on.

It shows off a lot of his lower range and some incredible high notes, both in full classical style (it's almost hard to believe it's the same person). The song is in Italian and was written specifically for Dimash by famous Russian composer, Igor Krutoy, who basically came out of retirement to be able to write for a voice that wouldn't limit his compositions. It's a motivational song of power and inspiration meant to inspire athletes at the Olympics (and all of us as well).

Then he takes a hard left turn and the performance becomes transcendent. It's hard to describe the magic of this one until you see it. This song is in English.

This is one of those special performances that, if you were in the audience, you'd never forget. He legit killed this. This one is also in English.

It was written specifically to be unsingable by a human voice and had to be synthesized for the movie. Dimash sings it live. This is a very short performance (at ~1.5 minutes) but will convince you that Dimash is not from this planet. Btw, iirc, he's singing this at the end of a 3 hour concert.

what you just watched was his first performance and was unknown, after performance gained 600 million plus fans over night and needed bodyguards from then on. SOS is one of the 5 hardest songs for anyone to perform and he "kills" it. Dimash the greatest ever. can't stop listening to him daily; for past 3+ years.

Great Reaction!!! This was the first performance of the first night of the Chinese competition show - The Singer - in 2017. Generally only accomplished Chinese singers could participate. But Dimash had won several contests in Kazakhstan, and was invited to compete as a wild card. No one had any idea who he was, and as it was his first performance, the audience was advised in advance by the producers to applaud and give him a warm welcome to the stage. By the end of the song, they were applauding and cheering for real. He took first place for that night's competition. The next day, he had 600 million hits on Weibo (China’s Instagram)... and the rest, as they say, is history.

Yes possible, at least for our boy, Dimash who is rapidly becoming known as the best vocalist on the planet! You've got to listen to and react to more of Dimash's performances. Th ere is great variety but all amazingly great!
I believe he picked this song to show most of his range. He was the opening act of the Chinese "I Am Singer" professional by invitation only singing competition, which ran a number of weeks. So for the coldest open he picked this song at great risk and basically won the country, including his competitors you saw in the "green room" (he's so wonderful; I'm so screwed). I noticed the veteran female singer knew to sit back and enjoy the ride and not to worry about it.
I did say most of his range. Male voices mature more slowly than female voices. In the last 3 years his voice has filled in on the lower end some.
And he has some more room on the top. This song went up to a 6th octave E, which is where opera soprano parts top out.
So for more low rich, see "Sinful Passion" - the Sochi performance is very good and meaningful : the original band!, and "Love Is Like A Dream" with Igor Krutoy, the song writer, playing piano. They are both in Russian, so turn on captions and pick the English subtitles.
Oh, it is pronounced "DEE-mosh" "Koo-die-bear-gen" (hard g like "again"). The Russians usually almost dipthong the last vowel to 'gyen' and sometimes add an "ov" at the end. His country broke free from the USSR in 1991, so pretty much everyone speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently. You won't need to know any Russian to see he is really comfortable singing in Russian.
But of course he learned to sing a Mandarin song phonetically in one week during the Singer competition, which should be impossible, especially since native speakers say it sounds like he is fluent.
the song is from a French-Canadian (Quebec) musical play from about 20years ago. This song was made hugely popular in France by a wonderful young singer who died from cystic fibrosis.
