It’s so great to be able to discover great talent from all over the world. He is just spectacular. May not be the type of music I put in my car for a road trip, but, I am a singing coach and I can tell you that I have yet to hear another singer with his technique, range, charisma, passion and professionalism. Dimash is the legend on the history of music now and next generation. he can do anything in the music, sing, dance, write, play instruments, director of his own music.

The band accompanying him is A-studio, the pianist is the composer of the song. The break with the unusual melismas in the center - where you were getting chills - is a traditional Kazakh funeral/mourning chant, and was sung in honor of the original singer, who died in 2015. The band is Kazakh, although they live and play in Russia. This song won many awards in Russia when it first came out.
The gentleman in the white shirt who was one of the first to stand at the end is Igor Krutoy, a famous Ukrainian/Russian composer/pianist/producer. When Dimash was a schoolboy he idolized Krutoy and longed to be singing his songs on stage, accompanied by him. Now he is. Krutoy has re-written a number of gorgeous songs for Dimash, which they perform together. (Check out Love is Like a Dream, Adagio, Olympico)
There are a lot of directions you can go from here, common ones are: the Krutoy ballads, traditional songs like Dididau, or rock - his cover of "The Show Must Go On" and his live performance of Screaming at Idol Hits are spectacular. Lots of songs, and something to surprise you in every one of them.

Personally, I think that Dimash is a musical virtuoso of our time. He is originally from Kazakhstan, and he will be 27 years old (in May 2021). Dimash has been officially training and performing for more than 21 years. At the age of 5, he was found to have perfect hearing. Dimash is often called the best male singer in the world. Dimash is known for his exceptionally wide vocal range (from bass to soprano to whistling register). It is recorded that he has a range above six (6) octaves and continues to improve his ranges and techniques. Dimash is a phenomenal Vocal Storyteller.
Dimash calls his style " Innovation "[neoclassicism] in the genre of classic crossover. There is much debate about whether Dimash is a tenor or a baritone. Many vocal coaches believe that Dimash is a high baritone. Dimash combines many styles, such as classical (Opera), Modern (Modern, Pop, R&B, Jazz, Rap), Pop and traditional Kazakh folk music.
Dimash is a multi-talented singer [12 languages], multi-instrumentalist [7 instruments], Composer and performer. Dimash (height 1.91 cm / 6 ft 3 in) was engaged in modeling for well-known fashion labels, lifestyle and fashion magazines.
Dimash graduated in 2014 from the Music Institute with a degree in Classical Music, with a degree in Vocal Opera (Bel Canto). I offer a little information about the song "Sinful Passion". This song is old. She's over 20 years old. Music by Baigali Serkebayev, and the words to this song were written by the famous contemporary Russian poet Ilya Resnick, author of many Russian music hits The first performer of this song was a singer from Kazakhstan Batyrkhan Shukenov (he died in 2015). Dimash sang this song for the first time in Russia in Sochi at the New Wave Festival on September 9, 2018. He didn't imitate the first performer. Dimash used all his phenomenal abilities and made a completely different interpretation of this song. I can't remember a single song where the singer changed 5 voices (from baritone to soprano) and 4 octaves in one song. And Dimash did it easily. That was A'Studio playing the song with him. The strange vibrato in the middle was part of a funeral lament for the original singer, who died a few years back. The crazy up-slide and jazz/turkish runs near the end were done on one breath - 23 seconds. The closer you look, the better it is.
It's hard to believe anyone has such range to their voice. Just such a beautiful interpretation. Love it. His voice does give you chills.

You should really listen to his concerts. His first Bastau and his New York Concert and every concert in between. Dimash in concert is something else. He is now world famous. He is also Number 2 with Keven Kenny on MTV Fridays on Twitter. This is when the famous Russian composer, Maestro Igor Krutoy first heard Dimash and came out of semi-retirement to compose just for Dimash.
Dimash's name is on a microchip on board spaceship Perseverance, so since a couple of days he is back where he came from, on Mars.
Thanks again for reacting to Dimash. He is a wonder to behold. Some of the Vocal Coaches on You Tube try to explain how Dimash sings the way he does. Some are very technical, but in general they agree that Dimash is the "next step" in Human vocal evolution. He basically can manipulate his body into singing any note. He also was given the gift of "telling the story" of the songs he sings. In other words, "The Whole Package". If you are looking for his "Big" sound try Ogni Pietra. If you want something more intimate, try Love is Like a Dream.

A few things - In Russia they sometimes add "ov" to his last name. This concert honoured the band A-Studio, who backed up a number of vocalists performing their music. (Their vocalist had died ). This song was written by the piano player Dimash thanked at the end. One remarkable thing about this performance is that near the end, the phrase that begins when he starts jumping up and down (where the glitch in the video occurs) and ends after he does all of those vocal runs, is done in one breath 23 sec. long. The concert was organized by the man in the white shirt, Igor Krutoy, a famous composer / promoter in Russia, who after this began writing music specifically for Dimash's vocal range, so on several later videos you'll see Krutoy accompanying Dimash on piano. There are also many other performances from Singer 2017 worth seeing.

Ogni Pietra was written for Dimash by Maestro Krutoy. Also, I Miss You. Dimash has also collaborated with other artists who have inspired him musically such as Lara Fabian (there is a lovely trio with Dimash, Lara and Aida.

U could check out the original Sinful Passion by A'Studio. The song ended just before the part where Dimash vocalize it in this version. So here Dimash made a simple song which had 2 octave range, turned into a difficult masterpiece with 4-5 octaves. Not to mention the 23 second runs with 1 breath he had there.

In terms of his ability to sing in languages he doesn't know, he sang Autumn Strong in perfect Mandarin during the 2017 Singer competition after one week of learning it phonetically when he only knew a handful of Mandarin survival words, since he hadn't been in China before.
Mandarin is a tonal language, so it is incredibly hard to sing in if you are not a native speaker.
Of course you probably noticed that he is extremely comfortable in Russian. It is one of his two native languages growing up in Kazakhstan.

Generally, I'd love to see you do the 2017 The Singer performances first, so you can see how he grows and matures over time, but first I highly recommend you hear a song in English. The perfect one is Hello from his guest return appearance at The Singer 2018. Then return to The Singer 2017, which also has several in English. Adagio, The Show Must Go On, Autumn Strong, and Daididau are among the great songs of that competition. Another early exception to do, because it completes a good understanding of how he uses his voice is Ogni Pietra (Olimpico). The Bastau version is a great one, but avoid the fancam versions as the acoustics are bad.
