can you tell me, is it okay to used it for a long time, like a 8-10 hours working. that laptop can handle it ? i just wanna give it for my brother, student rn.
My work just phased those out but they are great little machines. They will last a long time and I don't think anyone would do wrong by picking one up for just casual everyday use
Another amazing video! I bought one of these a while ago on ebay for the equivalent of $70 about a month ago, not including the charger (pretty cheap thankfully). I really scored with an 8th gen model too (8250U, slightly lower end than yours). Impulsive ebay purchases sometimes pay off.
the dell latitude 5490 can do intense gaming but the cooling fan running on high but its a normal thing so dont mind the cooling fan its not gonna explode or anything!
I have the Dell Latitude 7290 which is the 12 inch variant. It also has the 8th gen intel. I bought it used a couple of years ago and it has served me as a daily driver up until this past month. The Dell Latitude lines can be a bargain if you catch them after schools or businesses sell them off. They are comparable to the Lenovo Thinkpads and are built very rugged and are usually a bit cheaper. They can game reasonably well with the integrated HD graphics, especially emulation. Good video.
😄 There was some ChairDesk action! Busted it out for the laptop breakdown. It was just zoomed in a good bit, so didn't get to see it in its complete magnificence!
2:03 I have one of those with a 1st gen i5 in it. They've been making laptops in that class for a LONG time. Note of caution if you take yours apart. There are two sizes of screws, make sure you keep track of which screw went where, if you don't you could cause a short.
@@johnathanjamesjohnsonjr7408 😄 I don't think it was stupid. I was taken aback by the SIM card slot as well. It's not very often that I see them on laptops. And I didn't even really know about it til after I found it making the video and was curious. As far as why they covered it the way they did, absolutely no idea. Cover wasn't designed to pop out, and no markings or anything. Almost makes me wonder if maybe it's not active or something, which would seem silly that it's on the board but they don't bother to set it up. Who knows though. I'll have to give it a test sometime and see if it is functional.
Good find. I went the HP route for $125, but it is very similar to what you have. I had to watch out for the variants that did not have a 1080p screen. Also, I thought that I probably won't use Win 11 because of the amount of personal data collected. I definitely won't now because of no Clippy 📎
The only problem with the hp route is the repairability. Its easier for me to open up a dell latitude then a hp laptop wich are built so thin and fragile. Sometimes makes you think these hps are not meant to be opened.
I have something like that for work, but it doesn't have a FHD display. It is such a bummer. Good video on it. I have an idea to use your videos in playback examples for some of my reviews. Let me know if you are good with it. LLCD!
@@Makswelld So I did try it out today with a Lenovo USB-C 65W charger, and you were right it does charge. It does charge the Latitude 3400, 3490 and to my surprise 5491. The 5491 was giving a warning message but that model has a 45W CPU so a 90W USB-C charger should by fine. Thats actually funny that dell doesnt mention this feature on the 3490 and 5491. Only the 3400 has this feature in the documentation.
I recently lucked into getting a 5491 with the i7-8850h and MX130 gpu for $70. It didn't have an SSD and the battery needs to be replaced, but I couldn't pass up that price!

the screws are captive in this laptop. they arent meant to be removed from the back case
