I interned with Marc a hand full of years ago. His insight on mixing was so crucial to my growing years. Even tho I work majority on rap music he definitely gave me a different perspective.
I really like this Marc, has a very good way of explaining things, and I like his taste in the way he mixes, very cool! Would love to see more with him, could listen for hours, really awesome guy!
I'm late to the party on this video I know, but how's that snare sample!!! as soon as he pulled it in sent me straight to Bossanova era Pixies! love it! Marc's the man!
Excellent presentation and no nonsense approach to mixing. I notice that most engineers tend to mix on the bright side and find my ears prefer a less digital sound to music. ITB is where it's at presently, but analog gear still rules. When this song goes out to the mastering house, the mastering engineer will likely pass the song through plenty of organic sounding analog interfaces... both FET and tube. That will help transport the song to a warm place where the sun shines. You can't beat ITB music creation and mixing for speed, detail and recall... but analog has the girth, depth and width that digital tries to emulate but fails every time. I love ITB mixing, but will only rely on analog gear to get that final sound... hence the need for a good mastering house to take a great mix and make it stellar.
How do you manage to write your automation with the fader with all the delay that the UAD Stuff creates? I can't do automation move personally when I throw that amount of UA processing! Good series!

Great series with a fantastic presenter; Marc makes you feel as if you're sitting in the room with him. Can't wait for part 3.
Must procure a Thermionic and a Transient Designer. Best tutorial ever. This is one of the best all time tutorials I've ever witnessed!
That sounds so freaking brilliant. MDN is the man!
Marc Nelson is awesome. Love his work.

Amazing! Thanks.

Glad to see that I use most if not all of those mix processes. I guess I'm on the right track (No pun intended...lol).

Great video. Learned alot and u had me laughing. Good stuff. 😂😅😆 Plus I think u sold me on the UAD Thermionic Culture Vulture.
Yeah man, I agree... seemed to do exactly what he wanted, thicken it up and bring it forward, in a totally natural way.
Love this song
thanks so much! great job!
Crazy and love it !!!
Excellent video.
Digging the snare sample. Anyone know what it is?
Whats up with that Change in pitch on the snare?
Really cool !👍🏼
Will these multitracks be available somewhere? I'd love to experiment with the Townsend plugin on those overheads.

What was the process for prepping the tracking session for mixing?
He will use all of the UAD plugins I bet...

Love how guys sit at a quarter million dollar console and use a Presonus fader for edits. :)
MrChazmuz might be because they’re not using this console in the demonstration...
