Doing some research online and it's essentially the upgrades: The new Apollo X Gen 2 interfaces from Universal Audio still use the same SHARC DSP chips as the previous generation, meaning the DSP performance hasn’t changed significantly. The primary difference in the new Gen 2 models includes upgrades like improved A/D and D/A conversion, new features such as Auto-Gain, and built-in room correction powered by Sonarwork. In other words, if you have the previous Apollo Twin (first gen) or the heritage edition, these should still be really good in terms of your audio interface.
I had an X6, sent it to Black Lion for the premium mod with the sub pico clock upgrade. Much better. Then i got Burl B2’s. MUCH better. Then i started having reliability issues with Apollo taking 20 minutes sometimes to connect when i turned my Mac on…. So i got an RME UFX 3. (Totalmix > UAD Console by a landslide). Then i wanted Burl level conversion with just an interface. Sold the Burl’s, and the RME and got a Prism Titan. Absolute best sounding interface I’ve ever heard. Prism “is” the gold standard. The internal Pres sound like Millenia’s. Conversion is better than anything I’ve had/heard.
I like how every time I see someone using the UAD microphone modeling they just make it an emulation of a microphone that cost $50 less. Honestly the whole modeling plug-in just sounds like a bunch of EQ curves
@@DaMixWizardlmao I use the slate c800 emulation and have used a real 800 and with great mixing you can't tell the difference these purist are mad we are in the age of technology where we can get the same sound and not spend half of the money they spent
For the new people who are just finding out about UAD and it's new interface and are thinking of purchasing (DON"T) this is the same exact interface reskinned and marketed for a higher price tag, they did nothing at all new. There is your updated interface, ohh yea and windows based users this is thunderbolt they still haven't made USB C like we asked them to do for years now.

Just updated my whole system about 2 months ago, to now see new interfaces 😢 to bad I’m passed the 45 days return date 😂

Stop hating. Go buy your $10,000 mic while I use the emulation. The audience isn't going to know the difference

😂😅🤣🤣🤣
These interfaces sound great especially compared to the first gen
❤it
So wait they updated the D/A but not the A/D ??
We all need to pray and be thankful.
Nice Refresh.
So you didn't use any unison preamps?
The best just got better 👍🏽

10 years though for a facelift 😂
Is it the same shark dsp?
It is the same as the last generation.
That's horrible 😭😔. How can they justify using ancient DSP chips from 2008?
They finally got the converters right, this is what the last interface should have been.
The shark chips are the same……😂😂😂.. the difference will most likely be zero or minimal a best.
Apollo are not the gold standard of pro studios. Be real.
Some pros use them for sure, but no way near the “gold standard.”
The sound is pristine The converters must be high grade for sure.
Excited about what ??? The new gen2 is a boring upgrade.
uad is now It will no longer be able to survive in the audio market. They were eliminated along with their old shark chip inventory.
👀
nobody wants this. native plugins are 500x more efficient.
