Personally i’m glad we got a shiny method that’s as easy and fun as outbreaks, it’s kinda inspiring me to finally go back and do shiny hunts in older games again. I feel like you could probably halve the rate for outbreaks and it would still be okay, but yeah as someone who’s had trouble with previous games it’s a breath of fresh air at least for now. Personally in future games i think it would be nice to have similar easy rates but have more individual diversity like Sword and Shield; marks and different shiny sparkles, along with different sizes/Alphas, seems like a perfect amount of extra rarity to me! also something i recently thought about, maybe adding a second rarer shiny form to some pokemon? probably ridiculous but could add that extra drive for long time hunters in a new way. Anyway, congrats on the shiny H-Voltorb! I’m getting some awesome hisuian shinies myself, and also wanna say i’ve been loving your tier list series, keep up the good work ^^
This is the first main line pokemon game with those boosted shiny odds, and in my opinion it feels really nice and special of them to do this, because in the other games shiny hunting was not fun for most of the methods except for SOS and maybe the masuda method and Pokemon Go is an app for phones, Pokemon Go has "community days" where the odds are even lower than 1 in 158 (1 in 25). So in short: they made shiny hunting fun, and maybe the odds of 1 in 158 are a bit low for some but for me and many others those odds feel justified.
I’m glad you’re having fun shiny hunting! I just wish we had a choice if we wanted boosted odds from the Dex and not required to get it to progress in the game!
I kind like the boosted shiny odds especially because most shines have lost a lot of their value. The alternative is alpha shinys for people who want a valuable shiny.
Value in a shiny is personal. If people wanted shinies because no one else had them or because they were actually valuable, no one would hunt them because lots of people hack them anyway. To me it’s more fun to go for a rarer shiny because it’s more exciting to actually get it. But I don’t mind the boosted odds either I just wish it was a bit harder to achieve those boosted odds. Maybe completely remove the research level 10 boost but keep the dex perfection boost?
just tested the ko method with the summit camp and using Braviary and it took 1 minute and 7 seconds for a cycle also congrats on the shiny, I'm around 840 ko in. no shiny yet...
Good luck! I plan to hunt growlithe and I think the only viable method for hunting it full odds is to do the KO method so I’ll have to give it a shot at some point!
I’ve had this game for maybe a week and have got 14 shinies from the Outbreaks haha. Plus that’s only with 8-10 hours of hunting. I don’t think shinies being that common is a bad thing, because if you value full odds shinies, you can still get them in the older games. This game has inspired me to get a complete Hisuian shiny dex and maybe start on the national dex! Not sure if I’ll actually do it, but hey, I’ll start on it! 😂
I agree with your statement except for what you said about full odds hunters still getting to hunt full odds shinies in older games. We should be able to have a choice as to what game we can hunt full odds shinies in. They can keep the odds as is just make it so you aren’t required to get the boosted odds by playing through the game. Some full odds hunters would like to be able to hunt the way they want in this game and it shouldn’t be only about those who want easier shinies because that isn’t fair. It’s a similar issue I have with Pokémon GO. I feel Pokémon GO would be a much more enjoyable game to shiny hunt in if every Pokémon had the same base shiny odds at 1/512 but there were methods you could do to raise your odds as opposed to Niantic saying, “here’s ridiculous high shiny odds for this day and you either have to accept it or don’t play the game at all during this time.” It’s a lot more controlling and exclusive to remove the player’s ability to choose from a game.
i've been 3 days hunting ursaring. Going over odds in the outbreak method feel so maddening, you see everyone getting like 4 shinies per day. I know the odds are so easy, I think I went like, double over odds and I'm going insane. Also, I don't have a lot of time, I'm not hunting 24/7 so, easy methods are awesome for casual shiny hunters
I totally agree! I just personally am not as big of a fan with them but I can simply avoid outbreaks. I just wish it was a little more doable to keep certain Pokémon full odds so we have the choice as to what odds we want to hunt at! Good luck on your ursaring!
I shiny hunted for Hisui Growlithe and took me 910 checks, most likely because it was from a mass outbreak but it would be my first shiny team member in a game
I definitely think the shiny odds are a bit too high. I have almost two full boxes of shinies, most of which are outbreaks, but given that this game is a month old, that’s kinda ridiculous. Also, to get the 2048 odds, you need a 10, so hypothetically, you could try to get every Pokémon in the field lands to rank 9, report it, keep the lower odds, full odds hunt whatever you want, rinse repeat with other areas. The only one that can’t be full odds hunted is unown, as to get them to regularly spawn, you need a perfect page
I might need to try setting up a separate profile where I try to keep everything full odds! Also do you know if spiritomb gets a complete Dex page after getting all the wisps or does it give you an additional set of tasks to do for it after you register one in the Dex?
@@ThedomiNATION no, getting all wisps does not max out it’s page. It will respawn, but it’s incredibly rare. Like to an insane degree. I’ve gone to it’s area countless times and have only seen 2

probably still lower than the masuda method
nevermind they can become up to 1/148 if not more which is broken

I mean theoretically you could you would just have to get your shinies before you progress and it would take a long time to beat the game is all.
That is true! Quite the challenge though lol
I could watch you talk all day 🙈
