You do know that you could've saved quite some time by catching a normal ponyta and defeating Kleavor, to activate the quest for a guaranteed shiny ponyta, right?
@@loganbrony130 Catching a non shiny ponyta would be against my rules. I only caught non shinies that the game forced me to get then immediately released them

Shiny Hunting in this game is fun and no longer stressful! I'm catching more mons to increase the odds! I plan on getting shinies of my favorite pokemon!
It is fun in this game! I did it a less fun way to make it more of a challenge but on my main account, I love running into random shinies!

I’ve found 3 shinies in almost 7 hours of play. Every single one is a starly. All of them.
i've found 4 shinies today in 4 hours. a shinx, eevee, magikarp and a teddiursa

As someone who’s favorite Pokémon is Luxray and who’s caught 3 female shiny shinx while trying to find a male one, this hurt me.
My first shiny ever was a Bibarrel that I caught in Pokemon Platinum. After 30 minutes of playing Legend Arceus I got myself a shiny bidoof. Long live Bidoof

@@13_cmi I got pretty lucky. It is my first shiny before beating the game. Of course the bidoof became part of my team, just as the video Bidoof's Big Stand and it will never be evolved

PSA: About the Dusclops, before you get asked to catch one, they do still spawn naturally in the same area, with the normal shiny odds, and then use that dusclops to fulfill the story quest requirement

I’ve been playing for 73 hours and got perfect Dex entries for Eevee and a few others the only shiny I’ve got is the Ponyta they give you lol…

i found a shiny psyduck in an outbreak and the guaranteed ponyta
Try looking in mass outbreaks more often. Base shiny odds in those are around 1/158.
One of my friends was playing PLA and got a shiny ponyta he thought was from the mission since he was doing it, nope, it was a random one and he now has 2 😂
You shouldnt save when you see the shiny during an outbreak.
The reason is it doesnt reroll the shiny rate. The outbreak is already predeterminedand which pokemon to be shiny is already set in its seed. It could be number 4, it could be number 100. You just dont know. All you had to do was reload the game at basecamp and go back to get it because the starly would ALWAYS be THAT number that appears (watch austin john plays recent video on shiny outbreaks).
The fact the outbreak was still there a second time was very lucky - you had a chance that the outbreak would have disappeared when you reloaded the game. Thats why you DONT SAVE infront of the shiny on an outbreak. If you kill the shiny or it runs away, just reset the game and reload from basecamp. Go back and catch all the pokemon again until it shows up.

I mean I’ve outbreak hunted a decent amount in this game ( about half of a box of shinies) I’ve saved infront of all of them, had to reset a couple times and never failed it.
@@CJ-be2cu That is really lucky because I did it like that and lost a Shiny Gyarados I almost cry I spent four hours trying to get it.
Some experimenting done seems to suggest that the outbreak will only vanish on reset if it was already almost over, like

Have you seen the Mass Outbreak Shiny hunting Methods? I have a Shiny Gyrados, Heracross and Happiny so far from that method...and a Shiny Sudowoodo I just randomly stumbled upon...and obviously have the shiny ponyta that everyone gets

He somehow still doesn't know you can press X in the battle to switch to Pokeball and just press ZR to throw them instead of going in menu.
The outbreak being only Pokemon you've caught might be a good way to target specific shinies. In a normal playthrough of course lol.
"Its a combee, why did I come back to this area- it's a Male no!" I felt that line to my soul lol.
I'm probably gonna do this challenge but instead of only CATCHING shinies, I can only USE shinies, meaning I can catch whatever I need for my Pokedex but can only use the shinies I catch...
That makes this challenge MUCH more likely to doable.
I was thinking to add alphas to the ok to catch rule, but 20+ to fill some of the research .... hell I am writing this at his 39th hour of play Hahahahaha
@@bryanfunk maybe make it that you must have at least research level 10 to catch an alpha?

@@insertclevernamehere1186 late reply but, your research level is stuck at 0 because the professor won't look at Pokedex entries until you have caught at least 1 of that species

I once found an Alpha Shiny Golduck. I was like "oh cool" and passed it..

I love shiny hunting but it's such a boring grind in the other games with encounters and egg hatching. I have spent full days just doing mass outbreaks and having so much fun. Plus I love when you can see them in the overworld so no encounter then pray method lmao

I’ve found two random shinies. Shiny Bergmite and shiny Budew. I named the Bergmite Iceberg and the Budew, Poison Ivy.
I finished my mimic quest fighting magicarp.You just mimic the splash, switch to another Pokémon,then swap it back ,mimic again
I caught 3 shinys in 10 min 2 were back to back and what makes it funnier that I was going to a horde to shiny hunt the one and I found it on my way there
ive been shiny hunting voltorb today and stumbled across this video in my suggestions. it would appear you and i are alternate versions of the same person.
Early on(ish) in my playthrough I found a shiny teddiursa, without any modifiers. Never caught one, wasnt even in an outbreak. I was so excited and it doesn’t even matter now that you get a shiny every other outbreak.
I’ve been surprised by how often I’ve run into shiny Pokémon in this game. I even have a shiny Luxray on my team. Not the case in the mainline games.
PLA is a mainline game. Game Freak has changed this retroactively. Which is good.
The shiny odds are the same as for every other pokemon game. But if you see a pokemon in the overworld this is considered an encounter as far as the game is concerned. So even though the odds are the same you have far more encounter. Obviously. I actually think this is way better. I hope they keep this system for Gen 9
You could've fought other pokemon and let them attack you so you can see their moves and help with the stars

The first bidoof isn't shiny locked, I've seen someone get one shiny, also any dusclops works, I used one I got from a duskull so if u wanted u could have gotten a shiny one.
That Dusclops is actually not shiny locked ;) But either way this is such a fun challenge to watch !
I actually got extremely lucky with my very first shiny (Fcombee) wasn't a complete page yet and it was the first time I entered the 2nd area.

I wasn’t even shiny hunting when I came across a shiny Wurmple in this game at the very beginning too. Of course I caught it and it has been on my team my entire play through. I had no clue what it would evolve into and stressed which one it would be and due to how much I just love Wurmple in general I decided to not evolve it until I 100% the game (still a work in progress). I don’t recommend this since in this game Wurmple only knows tackle and poison sting and can’t learn or be taught any other moves plus it's just a Wurmple so it dies instantly but it's the highest level on my team and I even let it get the final hit on Giratina

Lmao I have a shiny vespiquen that I found as a combee and it was actually my first shiny beside the ponyta and I love that thing. Unfortunately I did find it after I beat the game so it wasn’t a part of my final team but I do use it now.

I got an entire 7 male shiny Combee over a span of about 5 hours until I got my beautiful female one and named it Ruby
Way I'd have done this is: It's okay to catch non-shinies but I'm not allowed to keep them or use them for anything. They have to be released as soon as they're caught

You do realize that you don’t have to save when u see a shiny Pokémon? At least, if you save at camp first. Always save at camp. The shiny will ALWAYS still be there. ( also you can just throw balls using X and R2 instead of going into your bag )

A good way to find a shiny is too just wander around an area for hours on end, I do that just to find items and Pokedex stuff and found a shiny buizel
bro i caught so many bidoof that i managed to catch a shiny one without realising. it sat in a box and if it weren't for my cousin, I'd have never realised. bidoof is hands down the best B)

I mean you still have to actually play the game to progress and there's a bunch of ways to do that. He's still levelling up and doing tasks in between the hunting, his team is just limited by a "random" spawn of pretty common and low level creatures, and he only needs a few of them to proceed. Plus this is obviously not the first time he's completed the game so he will have known some shortcuts and tricks to save time. It's a pretty easy game to finish too, which helps.

My first ever actual shiny was a shiny combee. Sadly, it was male, so it sits in the pastures lookin cute-
In the past 30 hours of gameplay I've gotten over 30 shinys. And I don't have the shiny charm. This game is so rewarding 🤣

When i saw a combee outbreak i decided to hunt for a female to! In about 30min i got one! I could not believe i got the shiny female combee so fast and the next day i got a random shiny male combee 😁
Funny enough I've never gotten a Bidoof outbreak. In the entire playthrough. Lol
