Day of the Dead Festival in Aguascalientes Mexico 2021 Part 2

- Día de muertos in Aguascalientes is a big deal, as is in most of Mexico. Each year since 1994, the Festival Cultural de Calaveras (Cultural Festival of Skulls) is one of the most important events for the state of Aguascalientes. It was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic, and it is said that the festival in 2021 was smaller than previous years, offering only 200 events as opposed to the nearly 300 in previous years.
This 5-day festival is a HUGE celebration filled with color, joy, sadness, nostalgia, love and family. We learned so much more about the Day of the Dead celebration, history, and symbolism. We didn’t grow up making altars for Day of the Dead, as our families were more Catholic and the tradition wasn’t a strong component of our parents’ upbringing. But as we continue our journey to strengthen our connection to our Mexican heritage, we have embraced this tradition as one of the most emblematic examples of mestizaje (the blending of European and native mesoamerican cultures).
We hope you enjoy the experience!

First! More patrons needed to help Jenny & Kevin produce this great content. I have learned a lot about Dia de Muertos through RUclips this year. Big thanks to you for putting this out. I hope you are feeling better. ❤ 🇲🇽 🇺🇸
I agreed
I just became a Patron, my first one! 😊❤
Jenny & Kevin, you two are my favorite RUclipsrs. My husband and i were seriously considering Aguascalientes for our retirement home after our 2019 visit..love the festivities, history along with the new technology, watching this video is a great reminder why we love it there.
Hope you both are feeling better 🙏🏽💕
@@sleepingsun707 Woohoo - and now there are four!
How can I become a patron?
@@stevegfromnc3482 🎉🎉😁
The light shows are the best 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yes the light shows have become very popular in Mexico lately. We’ve witnessed two but this was our favorite.

This is awesome guy we were in Colombia for the day of the dead but nothing better the Mexico
Thanks! The day of the dead is Mexican tradition that's probably why. How is Colombia? We love it there especially Cali!
@@EatBailaTravel great we spent some time in Bogotá then Medellin we are in Panama now
@@OTWD_yt amazing. Enjoy!!
There is no need to say that you failed us, you did not. You aren't renovating the one museum, nor did you close the other one, no worries. What a wonderful, lively celebration! Love the face painting you had.
ah we would have loved to visit the museum though! guess we'll just have to go back someday 🙂
I absolutely love it!! I want to go now!
Aguascalientes is great especially during Día de Muertos!!
Wow es grande el festival!
super grande!
So cool! Love seeing how other towns celebrated - we were in Oaxaca city 🙌🏼 It looks like it was much bigger there - it was actually really quiet in Oaxaca as they had banned all the parades which was a shame. That was an AMAZING ofrenda in the background 4:35! The performance looked awesome! So glad you got in!! I like the blend of Halloween and Dia Del Muertos as long it doesn’t take over and take away the magic of this tradition. The parade was SO cool! Looks like you guys got the best experience this year - so awesome!
it's funny you say that because we considered going to Oaxaca City for Día de Muertos, but based on our experience Oaxaca has been more conservative in their pandemic measures so we figured it might be unlikely to host any large events. We heard about Aguascalientes' festival de calaveras from one of our followers and chose to go there! It was incredible. Thanks for commenting, friends! :)
@@EatBailaTravel so interesting! You guys definitely had all the Intel! They were super conservative but it was still a good time - just not the full festivities. What a great suggestion!! Have a wonderful week you guys ❤️
Aguascalientes is now at the top of my list for my next Día de los Muertos! Great videos you guys. As always, I love the local connections and the history. The Posada Museum was well done, so I hope you get to see it. I'm in Querétaro now and I'm checking your past videos to see your recs. ¡Saludos!
Hi Julia! We hope you’re enjoying your time in Querétaro. Make sure to check out Bernal it is by far our favorite town in Querétaro. Also if you like wine check out the Freixenet Vineyard. Saludos
Awesome video!! Aguascalientes is definitely on my list after watching this video, you guys are doing a great Jon 👏👏
Thank you! There’s always festivals going on in Aguascalientes so definitely look into one of those when planning your visit.
Very beautiful festival 😍festival of skull 💀☠
Parade in night ✨is also great with dark light and silent atmosphere 👌
Love 💘 Mexico
Awesome festival! Thanks for commenting and yes Mexico is amazing.
Nice video, yes, every year there is a theme for the festival. This year the theme was "lights, camera, action." If you want to see the big show come back in April for the Feria de San Marcos, it is Mexico's largest festival.
We might try to come one day it all depends how this pandemic unfolds these next months. We even have a place to stay already if we decide to come back for la feria
Aguascalientes is an amazing city, Another great video from you two. -Marc
Aguascalientes was awesome! We’re not in Monterrey learning and exploring this enormous city! Saludos
It all looked so fun 😃, it reminds me of Mardi Gras in New Orleans. I think I would enjoy just walking around and seeing everything. After watching your videos on day of the dead - I can’t wait to experience it for myself . 🇲🇽⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😃❤️❤️
Aguascalientes has its own Mardi Gras type celebration in April. It’s called la Feria de San Marcos the celebration lasts a month long! Now that you mention we miss Nola’s food! 🦪 🦀 saludos
Thank you for this video! This was informative and great. Thanks for all you do! Dreaming of our trip to Mx during the Christmas break. Your video provides the fuel I need to go back to doing grad homework!
Hi Hannah, thanks so much! Glad you’re feeling motivated to get that work done ✅ Christmas break is near!
I know that song on stage was originally recorded by Bobby Pulido from the 90’s Tejano era in Texas!
I’m headed there tomorrow and the next day as part of an airline crew.
Cool! Are you gonna get to stay for the festival? And yea, I love that song 🥹♥️
Great job once again. I visited Dia de Muerto in Oaxaca a couple of years ago. While I enjoyed the decorated town during this time, I felt the tours were over commercialized. Wherever I go in Mexico all the locals recommend Patzcuaro and Janitzio for this time of year. So that's my recommendation.
We want to go to Oaxaca but not the city we’d like to check out the smaller towns where they have these huge parties in the graveyards. but we agree Pátzcuaro might be the next best choice for next year’s celebration. Saludos amigo thanks for stopping by
@@EatBailaTravel what I enjoyed most in Patzcuaro was my hotel and a great tour guide who is also the best historian of the area. Let me know if you are interested. I would be happy to share the info.
@@timelesstravelclub6240 absolutely please share with us! We will definitely be up to tour with a historian
Wow, the video mapping was beautiful! I hope you are both back to 100% soon! (PS - and take it from a guy who has been married almost 27 years - no more outing each other's beauty secrets on cam :) )
Thanks for the advice Vancouver Dan! Thank you for joining our patreon membership. Looking forward to your trip coming up soon.
Hi guys, my boyfriend and I were born and raised here in Chicago and we are also planning on moving to Mexico in the future.
My boyfriend lives in Villa Hidalgo, Jalisco. It’s about 30 minutes from Aguascalientes.
Thank you for commenting we love when people from Chicago stop by to say hi. Have you been to Villa Hidalgo? Aguascalientes is nice We liked how many festivals it hosts. We left right when the national charro festival started and it looked awesome. It lasts a month

Thank you for replying ♥️
Yes, we have been going every year ever since we started dating in 2016. I love going, the people are very nice and welcoming.
I have some questions I want to ask you guys, do you have an email or should I send a message through IG.
Careful when you fight with big stuffed bears you could end up in “hot water”🤣😂
I don’t know if you guys are still in Aguas Calientes but if you are you can try to get another RUclipsr collaboration-‘Volando Voy’ blog.
Loved the theme of artists in Mexico Epoca de Oro 👏Hope you feel better 😁✌️👍
🔥💦 😜 haha good one!
We just left today but I think we did see one of their videos. Maybe next time! Saludos Fer!
