Looks Great 👍
I would have changed the Hardware 👍
ngl i think the original wooden cabinets were stunning but I really think you made the kitchen look better with the new butcher block countertop
Thank you Miss Bellina, the quality of the cabinets are great so I had to keep them but the butcher block and wood cabinets I was a bit afraid that it would be too much wood. Thanks for commenting and watching :)
@@splitarrowfarm I am glad you kept the cabinets. At first I thought you must have gotten rid of them. It looks great.
I agree! It would have also been an option to change out the hinges and handles. Still looks very nice.
0:54 Just noticed the spider or whatever climbing up the wall 😂
Hahaha. I think it was a fly because if you see it all the sudden leaves too
Ya me too I noticed it Haha
I'm thrilled to see a Barcelos rooster in there!
Thank you!!!
Glad you kept the hardware!
Thank you we love it too!
love that sink!
Thank you!
My kitchen is completely knotty pine and so dark. I've wanted to paint the cabinets and walls but wasn't sure it would look good. You've helped me decide it will look great!! Thanks for sharing your video! I love how yours turned out. It's beautiful!!
I love to hear this! Best of luck and thank you for the kind words :)
Wow!! What an amazing transformation🤩
Thank you, it was definitely work all the elbow grease!
Would have been nice to remove the scalloped edge above the window and update the hardwood to give it a modern country feel.
Thanks Pam, these are great ideas!
On the contrary, I love that they left this little piece of the original character by leaving the scallop edge. We’re under contract on a house with an almost identical kitchen and I picked that out right away.
New subscriber here. Love the this. We need to remodel but keep putting it off because with a large family a kitchen is a busy place.
Thanks for subscribing and so happy to have you along on the journey. I completely understand but the sooner you make the change the better. I also suggest taking advantage of the warm weather for changes so you can be outside using your grill while working on the kitchen. That is something I wish we had done.
Best of luck on your renovation!
I really like the butcher block countertop. Nice job!
Thanks! We have now had the kitchen for +6 months and they are doing great.
First thing I would do is take out the wood valance in front of the window…. wood valances are so “dated.” LoL 😂 Taking out the valance would also let in more light during the day. Painting and caulking the bottoms of the top cabinets would be “professional.” Good Video! 🤩
Thanks for the tips!
Oh, thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!! You saved what you could and reused perfectly good cabinets instead of taking a sledge hammer to them. I've seen parcel lace a kitchen instead of replacing a $3 drawer glide. Great video! Great kitchen!!!!
Thank you so much Theresa!
oooo, wait, what?! Just bought a house and do not have the money for a complete reno but would love to be able to make them open and close easier. And this kitchen makeover is completely what I want.
Butcher countertop always on my list along with quartz and granite. Great job on your project!
Thank you Kenji!
That looks so incredible! Love the blue!
Thank you so much! We love the color also it really creates that farmhouse feeling :)
Do you know what color the blue is
Great Job! That was fun to watch.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful job!
Thank you! Cheers!
So inspiring. The perfect youtube video I was looking for. I had to slow down the playback :)
My Kitchen looks exactly like yours with the same type cabinet and trad hinges. I have wanted the same blue color. I was going to install white countertops but wood looks great too and it's a DIY. Let's get started!
Love this and best of luck!!! I also have another video on 1 year later with the counter tops worth checking out!
Hello from Alberta Canada. Looks gorgeous and love that you used the same hardware.
Thank you Ellen!
Omg I love it great job guys
Thanks!
it is very beautiful and inspiring. thank you
Thank you so much for the kind words and for following along in our journey!
Very nice. I love the sink!
Thank you! We love our farm house sink and I suggest using a deep sink if you don't have one already at your Homestead it is such a game changer!
What an amazing video! Subscribed😁
Thank you so much, Joey, for the kind words and follow!
Very nice looking , good job.
Thank you! Cheers!
Okay, I am definitely turned away from granite countertops now. Holy cow this is beautiful!
Thank you and yes, the butcher blocks are a great inexpensive and fun DIY that you can do that can still have a long life if you upkeep them. Ours still look great!
The cabinets before tho 😍
The cabinets are built so well we agree, that is why we knew that we had to keep them and just spice them up!
Looks great!
Thank you definitely a fun process and so happy with the results :)

Very nice kitchen
Thank you Linda!
To match the refrigerator with the stove they have special stainless steel paint for appliance
Good tip!
Nice
Thank you!
Pretty well
Thank you!
Good job y'all! I came over from the small youtube homesteaders FB page. Hope you reach your goal soon!
Thank you so much for the support
Love the countertop and sink, not sure how i feel about the blue🫤
Def a bold color!
I would love those cabinets in the original wood color. I'm just not a fan of blue. Love the countertop though. ♡
Thanks!
Where did you get the peel and stick backsplash and countertops? They're beautiful!!
Hi Christina, and great question! There are a few different spots that you can purchase the same brand I used:
○ Lowe's DIP Tile: bit.ly/3ofZyO4
○ Wayfair DIP Tile: bit.ly/38URYlu
And then Amazon actually offers another brand that looks great as well that I thought about purchasing:
○ Amazon: amzn.to/3BX5lPE
Hopefully this helps, and best of luck on your project!
I liked the original cast iron sink better but still a good transformation 👍🏻
Thanks and it did stand the test of time!
Love the backsplash. Do you have a link for those?!
Hi Kristin, yes, we got them from Lowe's bit.ly/3ofZyO4. I did also share the process that I did for the backsplash so you can see more:

Wow! She works alongside of him. Wonder what that’s like. My wife always says “ you know what we need to do”. Then it’s all me 😓
Dream team!
Where did you get that peel and stick tile backsplash? Are they real tile? Thank you
Good question, there are links in the description and they are fake tiles. But these are by DIP and I have found that they are thicker than competitors.
Where did you get your butcherblock, it looks so good?
Great question, we actually purchased it from Lowes and they had free delivery so I highly suggest. Then you can just cut to your size and requirements.

You have a galo de Barcelos. The rooster at the end. You’ve been to Portugal?
Ah yes, Chris actually has been a few times to Portugal and was able to bring the Galo De Barecelos back. It is exciting to see how well known it is!
Does anyone know what color the blue cabinets are and the brand
They are Behr cabinet paint! I’ll have to look up the exactly blue color but it’s now months later and they are holding up great!
What kind of splash did you use?
Great question, I actually did a full video on the backsplash it is simply just peel and stick tiles: ruclips.net/video/ccYSiSFpAuU/видео.html
Thank you so much for answering me
How much were your countertops?
Great question, the butcher block is a few hundred dollars per slab which is a great cost when thinking about a countertop cost.
That kitchen looks great! It is so much better than mine but we hope to move in a year or two. I am an artist and I hope you check out my painting demos and studio tours. If you get the chance, please stop by and those dogs are adorable!
Thanks for the compliments and I am super crafty so I will 100% check out your channel!
Welcome and thank you!
How long did this take?
Great question Amber, we do have full time jobs so we worked around out jobs and weekends making it take a little longer. Start to finish it probably took a few weeks with shipping dates.
@@splitarrowfarm how much was your overall budget/expenses add up to?
not bad
Thanks!
NICE! BUT I WOULDNT PUT BUTCHER BLOCK AROUN A SINK
It is definitely something that you need to maintain
I wish you would of shown what you used
Hi Sherry, so happy that you liked the video. We also did a breakdown of the project with a part 1 and 2 as well as a video on how to install the peel and stick backsplash. Here is part 1 to get you started: ruclips.net/video/nvKn7KtypGo/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/wQGC8b29Td4/видео.html
YOU removed a TRUE FARM HOUSE SINK? :O
If only it was a deeper sink we would have kept it!
That’s what i was thinking ugh
No dishwasher?
Sadly no
It would have looked so much better with new hinges and cabinet pulls, the original ones date the kitchen (1960 or 1970s) I do like the color you used though
Yes, we were working with a tight budget and liked the rustic vibe but we did think about replacing all hardware and might do that in the future. Thanks for sharing!
I think the Originals are really beautifull, but this might be my perspective, not being American. They give me alpine vibes like Bavaria or Austria
Combined with your butcherblock countertops reminds my of tradionell skandinavian (is this a thing🙂)?
