I love that “screwed the pooch” bit that Michael Che did during his comedy special. Hopefully it shows up as a sketch like Mikey Day’s Tournament Fighter sketch.
blackfox51 ah that’s why it sounded familiar. When he was describing it I felt like I’d heard it explained that way before... it could’ve been a funny sketch
It would have been great promotion for Civil War, because Team Iron Man was all about accepting more responsibility for their actions and being more cautious. RDJ could have come in the last ten seconds of the sketch and yelled out "TOLD YA!" lol
It's crazy how demanding and difficult a writer's job is, coming up with original ideas week after week and I feel like they don't even get the credit for it when we're watching sketches
Writers never get credit, but these guys certainly get debit. At last being based a lit in news & politics, a lit if the stiff is reactionary, but that can also throw a spanner in the works
Weekend Update is the best most consistent act in SNL today and these two guys have been killing with comedy. I understand why censors have fear - but it's good these guys don't. The week where Clive Bundy was in the news for saying that black people had it better when they were slaves, Leslie Jones did a satirical sketch about that, and some black people who apparently missed the news that week took her comments seriously and attacked her online. Censors operate out of fear - comic actors operate out of freedom and courage.
Just a lot of peeling mustaches in rehearsals. I did say hi to Walken during a break (though you're not supposed to talk to hosts) because he and my ma went to school together in NY.
Colin Jost is one of those guys at the party that you think is totally not having a good time, but then just says a joke PERFECT for the moment, still in the most monotone way and makes the crowd die laughing.
Almost all those sketches sound like they could've came from "The Chappelle Show". Che has some funny sketch ideas if someone wanted to give him a show...
I've watched SNL since it premiered in 1975 - back before I became a relic - and I still watch it most weekends. But the regular sketches can be hit or miss and the music is sort of not my thing anymore (which proves I'm a relic), but I try real hard not to miss Weekend Update. It's always been good, from Chevy Chase to Norm McDonald to Dennis Miller and all the other twisted, socially questionable anchors over the years. Jost and Che continue in the great tradition of making me laugh until I start coughing like I have Covid (yet another hazard of relicosity). Not everything they do is comedy gold, but most of it hits the sweet spot.
I was in a CVS once and a lady asked me where the photo section was, I pointed toward the back corner with the huge "Photo" sign. I didn't work there, but I might have what it takes
But, that's a mistake everyone's made, right? I'm not the only one here who's done that, I'm sure! Screw the pooch sketch. Probably the funniest thing I've never seen.
the fact that some of these have since made it to air (Heroin AM and the Jackie Robinson ones did for sure, im not sure about some of the others) makes this even better
0:48: The Heroin AM sketch actually made it to air. It was on the season 41 episode hosted by Julia Louis-Dreyfus (who, coincidentally, was a cast member on the show. Not many people remember because it was during that time when Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo overtook SNL). They also did the first black man to criticize Jackie Robinson.
Japolo What are you doing on RUclips? How do you even know it exists? Shouldn't you be in the 90's with your baggy jeans, timbs, a jacket with all NBA teams on it and a flip phone?
I love how all three of them look like they are dressed for completely different events
MICHAEL WEARING HIS FATHER'S HAT.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Right lol
True
avinavar Everytime they do this
I adore Che, I am so happy he is getting the recognition he deserves.
you just wanna get physical with him, just don't have the courage to admit it
His special on Netflix was really good. He's a funny dude he deserves it. The Thor killing an unarmed black teenager would've been the best
The screw the pooch idea is great
exactly !
chokinonashes61 Me, too! I can’t put my finger on it, but I feel like I’ve known him forever. Weird, I know.
Heroin AM is one of my favourite sketches!!
Julia Crosswell madtv did that years ago
Why did he bring it up in a convo about rejected sketches
Yes, it did air (season 41), but it got some blowback www.cnn.com/2016/04/18/health/saturday-night-live-heroin-skit-outrage/index.html
Chris Kotsopoulos - it got a bad reception, so he probably confused it with being rejected
Yeah, that was Julia Louis Dreyfuss, wasn't it?
That Thor avengers sketch could've been fucking hysterical.
Mr. Tulip yep lol
Mr. Tulip l
They already did that in *Civil War*
And David Chapelle could tell Thor exactly how to deal with such a situation.
Michael Che actually did it on his new HBO show lol he made it into a cartoon with off brand superheroes though
Hey they actually did the Che’s “first black guy to boo Jackie Robinson”
Andres Colmenares came here to comment the same thing haha
Heroin am was a super funny sketch.
@@annikala me too 😅
It's as good as it sounds
@@bobdole3757 No, it was Non-Drowsy Heroin, and Cocaine P.M. Hilarious!!!!
SNL rejected these? Man, they really screwed the pooch on that one....
The one about the black man who booed Jackie Robinson ended up airing (season 45 episode hosted by John Mulaney). Must have took a lot of convincing.
Canais Young they also did the Heroin AM sketch
@@ShMeatWad Oh, yeah, on the third time Julia Louis-Dreyfus hosted.
No no, *they* made a mistake. *You* screwed the pooch.
the funniest part about this comment is that you look like an intern
I love that “screwed the pooch” bit that Michael Che did during his comedy special. Hopefully it shows up as a sketch like Mikey Day’s Tournament Fighter sketch.
blackfox51 ah that’s why it sounded familiar. When he was describing it I felt like I’d heard it explained that way before... it could’ve been a funny sketch
Yeah one of my fav parts of his special
SNL should have included these. They really screwed the pooch on these skits.
What was that?
These are all excellent sketch ideas. Its a bummer they won't let them do most of them.
Likely due to the amount of people that would need to be involved.
Yep lol
DreamStepper as!
They did heroin am
These guys are too edgy for SNL, but I'm glad they're there, just to keep the show on its toes
Seth’s andy samberg impression at 6:21 was weirdly good
On point!
to be fair, they already sound pretty similar
Yep
I was about to say, that was a totally out of left field SPOT ON impression of Andy Samberg doing a character.
Yup, perfect Sandberg
I love how Seth myers giggles.. and these 2 SNL anchors are brilliant !!
CVS "Who works here?!" Would have been brilliant!!!
They did that one.
I'd like to see that sketch with Tom Hanks 👍👍
"Thor accidentally killed an unarmed black teen"
OMG, that sketch would've been AWESOME!
It would have been great promotion for Civil War, because Team Iron Man was all about accepting more responsibility for their actions and being more cautious. RDJ could have come in the last ten seconds of the sketch and yelled out "TOLD YA!" lol
Why this comment sound a bit too excited😂
It's crazy how demanding and difficult a writer's job is, coming up with original ideas week after week and I feel like they don't even get the credit for it when we're watching sketches
They get paid
Writers never get credit, but these guys certainly get debit. At last being based a lit in news & politics, a lit if the stiff is reactionary, but that can also throw a spanner in the works
"Thor killed an unarmed black teenager"😂🤣😘
I mean that basically the plot to avengers 2
Also the reason Civil War was a thing
johnmburt1960 lol course
Yep lol
I laughed just hearing this. This would of been a funny sketch
Viagra Al Dente is the best pitch I've ever heard. I was really happy when Heroin AM got made. I also would have loved that bit with Andy Samberg.
Funnily enough, CollegeHumor did a version of the Viagra sketch.
The thor thing would have been the greatest skit of all time.
The Rageaholic agreed
I couldn't love these two more! Their humor is spot on, and their sarcasm is delivered flawlessly!
Agreed :)
I wanna see that Avengers sketch.
MusgoHBA Especially considering who Colin's girlfriend is.
Rubber Ducky Had to google that. Wow. Now I really wanna see it!
Yep lol
I mean it was kinda the beginning of Civil War
MusgoHBA Me too!!! 😂🤣

technoway can’t forget Pete Davidson. When he’s on weekend update he’s gr8
FEAR.NOT
Heroin AM is a real SNL sketch now!
Kirsten Alyssa wait when did that sketch come out ?
@@apoynta9858 Season 41
And now, so is The First Black Guy to Boo Jackie Robinson!
“Yea cuz you wanna take heroin but you still wanna get some stuff done.” - Colin Jost 😂
All of these ideas are 400% better than 98% of SNL sketches that make it to air.
Pj Perez yep. The best ones are always the most offensive ones 😂😂
You realize these two are co-head writers right? Like, they write most all of the sketches
Pj Perez most of the sketches that make it are trash
That's 50% more statistics than I expected from this comment
No, this actually just shows how funny the sketches are on paper. Then they don't look that great when badly acted on the show
Two great guest.. Cool interview, Seth.
Blazed Buddha I already thought that these two are funny, I’m loving this interview more than I thought I would. I’m literally crying over here! 😂
I've got all the time in the world for Michael & Colin
DR Doctor I agree. It amazes me how young these head writers are.
Every time I see them they look like a really cute gay couple.
soloseraphim Heartsong I had the same thought during this clip. Lol
soloseraphim Heartsong Oh my god! I see it now!
THANK YOU! I thought the same damn thing
Except one of them is boning Black Widow in real life
Me too lol
I used to skip weekend updates then I realized they were some of the best sketches in the show.
I didn’t know Michael Che was so tall 😍
Musica With his big fine self. 😘
miapdx I know. Right? I was like hello there Mr. Che 😏
He’s always sitting down 😂😂
He looks giant in this clip
@@dgstruzyk He's 6'1 :) Probably doesn't help that Colin is only 5'8' aha
I was an SNL intern when they came up with the cowbell sketch! No one had any idea of its future legend!
Rolling Ormond OMG! THAT'S MY FAV VIDEO EVER!!
Just a lot of peeling mustaches in rehearsals. I did say hi to Walken during a break (though you're not supposed to talk to hosts) because he and my ma went to school together in NY.
Rolling Ormond That had to be awesome! What do you do now? Are you in comedy as well?
Do mostly comics and background work in movies - would like to do more stand-up when I have the chance (not as young as I used to be!)
How did you get to be an intern there?
Seth's impression of Andy is spot on. Also these sketch ideas were brilliant, I wish they wouldn't shut them down. (especial the avengers one)
anyone here after they actually did the jackie robinson sketch?!
Sage Toews yep
Me!!
Pretty sure they also ended up doing the heroin AM sketch
Yeah I was like wait didn't they already do that one
Olivia Sofield really? ooooo i need to watch that
Came back after watching the Jackie sketch from mulaneys latest host, glad it got made finally! Fun to see how far they’ve come!
All of those sketches seem funny AF
That Jackie Robinson sketch sounded hilarious.
Jonny Rager yep lol
Good thing they made it
I work in retail Pharmacy...and i appreciate all of Colin’s Pharmacy sketches.
love their weekend updates more than anyone's
Colin Jost is one of those guys at the party that you think is totally not having a good time, but then just says a joke PERFECT for the moment, still in the most monotone way and makes the crowd die laughing.
And then leaves the party with Scarlett…
It's like when you see some of the Daily Show crew get together, past and present. Just pure joy.
I would honestly watch a sitcom with Jost and Che as the leads.
Can we all talk about Seth's impression of Andy Samberg?
Almost all those sketches sound like they could've came from "The Chappelle Show". Che has some funny sketch ideas if someone wanted to give him a show...
Jacob Gross exactly lol Dave and Micheal seems to have the same mindset
"Viagra al Dente."
I'm dying. I haven't laughed this hard in waaaaaaay too long.
Oh man, now I wanna see Andy as the monster
I NEED WATERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
They should totally do the "who works here" sketch, but with a Target instead of CVS and the people are just wearing red shirts 😂
I need this Thor sketch. 😂😂
Nate desmond yep lol
Anybody in here because of the Jackie Robinson sketch?
Colin Jost looks like the long lost member of the Queer Eye Team ... such a cutie ... that smile
I've watched SNL since it premiered in 1975 - back before I became a relic - and I still watch it most weekends. They got Che’s Jackie Robinson sketch on tonight!
These 3 need a podcast- hilarious together!
Seth’s Andy impression was remarkably accurate 😂
well, they did make the "Heroin AM" sketch, and it was hilarious!
Stop censoring Che! He’s genius!😂
Here after the Jackie Robinson skit on SNL 2020
"Idk this kid"!
2/29/2020 Che finally got his sketch in😁
Love those guys
I was in a CVS once and a lady asked me where the photo section was, I pointed toward the back corner with the huge "Photo" sign. I didn't work there, but I might have what it takes
Watched this during morning coffee. Then under morning coffee.
Seth's show is getting funnier and better from week to week
Michael Che...It's February again...time to bring back the Avengers sketch
Is it just me or is Colin going to be next host of late night show?
Alan Arun Mavath I hope so 🍀
I can see that... I'd like to see a more diverse host though, you know a black guy, or a female...
Veronica Smolko ...Cecily...?
Tansy Woods female host is a very good idea but Cecily's so good on SNL I want to see a whole lot more sketches before that happens
Cecily would be great but so would Colin
2:51 He did it. Yesterday will mark the day that Michael Che got that sketch made and aired.
Sounds like Thor really _screwed the pooch_ in that sketch. Yikes.
Che and Jost make the best pair - their comedy writing is genius
The greatest tag team ever!!
Michael Che Michael Che mmmm mmmm mmmm that's all I'm gonna say
karma caramel same
Michael Che came to my school a couple weeks back and ran through all of this. And it was hilarious
Aww i love all these ideas 😹 SNL should do a week or two of the throw away sketches!!
WOW! Seth Meyer's impression of Andy Samberg is spot-on!!! 😱😱
CVS Sketch sounds very funny, and Trump Rosetta stone sounds really hillarious.
Y'all these sketches would of been a HIT. I love them.
But, that's a mistake everyone's made, right? I'm not the only one here who's done that, I'm sure!
Screw the pooch sketch. Probably the funniest thing I've never seen.

Colin is so cute 😂
I love how the newer SNL cast members buddy up in pairs (Jost & Che, Alex & Mikey, Kyle & Beck)
Anyone here after he finally got his sketch
They actually used the booing jackie robinson sketch for Snl last night when John mulany hosted
Micheal Che always looks like he's thinking about his good ass leftovers he has waiting at home.
Love it when they right each other's jokes to be read
Michael Che= best part of my Weekend
Michael Che is such a grumpy old man, and I am 100% here for it.
Che has the best ideas. I really want to see the Jackie Robinson, Thor, and Viagra Al Dente sketches.
I'm happy that they uploaded the Heroin Am sketch.
I just honestly wished we still lived in a world where all these skits could actually come out lol.. that Thor sketch had me rolling
I am so glad these never got made, but also slow glad we got to know about them.
I love the way Che says "error"
All these skits should have come out, that Thor skecth had me rolling lol.. Chapel days, we need them back.
My two favorite ebony and ivory duo.

"Is that a half pack of Viagra in your pocket or.. oh, no. it's just a roll of lifesavers."
Love all three of these guys. I also like the dress casual, completely casual, and overdressed host looks.
...HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa!!! Too Fkn Funny! Michael & Colin make for great guests XD XD.
They did the cvs “Who works here” skit. I’m sure I’ve seen it. Also, those other skit ideas, amazing. I love these two. They are great.
he did it !
The Heroin AM sketch did get put out, its hilarious AF.
I love these two!!
Seth’s Andy impression is perfect!!
Colin looks good in everyday wear.
Love these two on SNL. The Batman and Robin of Saturday night. Lol😄
Che wearing skinny jeans...omg
