Thank you so very much for the wonderful video. I am not a seamstress and am new to a sewing machine and junk journals. For the life of me I couldn’t find anyone who explained it in good detail! Again I love
TsunamiRose this is the BEST sewing tutorial on paper that I have watched, and I have watched 8 other videos. THANK-YOU!!! Your close-up, in-focus camera angle was perfect so that I could clearly see exactly where you were positioning the paper. I appreciate all the specifics you shared about how to get the straightest stitches and how you test stitches. I am so impressed with your work; you are very talented!
I love this video, the hints and suggestions are helpful and the quality of the video is excellent, I respect the amount of work and art that went into making this RUclips. Sadly, I cannot watch it it one sitting. The music is just over the top for me. You really dont need the music, the information you present and the quality of the video speak so well that the music just interferes. (I worked in television for years and I would tell my director to edit the music...down) Thank you for your excellent work.
Thanks so much for this video, I've been waiting for someone to do one like this. I hope I'm not overstepping here but I'd like to help with a little info. I'm also a quilter and the cotton thread is quilting thread which is a little thicker than the all purpose. The type of needle is universal and the size you are using is 100/16. Universal type needles come in various sizes. So, let's say someone purchases a universal needle in a size 60/8 it would make very small holes, too small for quilting thread. This would mess with tension of the machine. I hope this helps.
Thank you soooo much for this tutorial. I have been trying to figure out how people are stitching around the edge of their ephemera for a few weeks now as I am an absolute beginner sewer. I have learned so much and I really appreciate the time you take to help us newbies out.
Interesting. I admire people who can sew stuff. I didn't know what the reference to Project Runway was in your title. I used to watch that show when I had TV. So many talented designers who had to sew also. Amazing all the different stitches that Brother machine will do.
Fun video! Even an old sewer like me appreciates your emphasis on keeping the edge on the middle mark. Trying to keep your needle down, stopping on the left side of the stitch helps keep it smooth. It isn't always that easy to have it happen though. You might try a sharp needle. Universal is for sewing both woven and knit fabrics and it isn't as sharp in order to keep from piercing the fibers. Sharp needles are for woven fabric. I seldom change needles on paper since the pressure from the machine usually pierces paper well! For stitching several sheets together, like for a journal, a sharp needle is very helpful! Oh, and Coat's & Clark regular thread has a polyester core and is wound with cotton thread. I like it. It is a lot stronger than plain cotton, so it all depends on what you are stitching. It is usually less expensive. I do prefer cotton thread when stitching cotton fabric since cotton thread will break before the fabric rips. Happy Stitching!
Thank you for doing this❤️ I just started junk journaling and I saw so many people sewing on paper so I tried it I broke 4 needles😩 So I asked my brother what was wrong he told me to get a stronger needle 😂 what?! they make those lol I’m such a newbie anyways went to hobby lobby and asked for a needle that could sew through leather😂🙄 my daughter laughed the whole time because she new I was only sewing on paper😂 long story short I have the same machine so now I have an idea of what I can do so thank you❤️🙏🏾
I have the same sewing machine and I haven't used the other stitches except zig zag, I'm going to play with it and do some tags! Thanks for the info and inspiration 😍
Thank you for sharing that. I've been wondering what kind of needle to use and was concerned that I would ruin my machine if I sewed paper. You have answered my question and I'll give it a try now. TYFS!
That was super informative. I have the same sewing machine and I've only used it a handful of times. I've been a little intimidated about it but you have given me the confidence from this video to do a lot more experimenting with the stitches. 🖤🖤
Thank you so much for sharing. I was wondering how they sewed their circles so evenly, glad I found your vid. Idon't have those fancy stitches on my machine, but do have the zig-zag, which I will try on scrap paper first. :)
This was fun to watch! And I was grooving the whole time! 🤣 Cause I'm chill like that, I'm chill like that! 😂😂 Thanks for this video, I kinda want that machine because it looks so smoooooth! 👌
I really enjoy using my Brothers Project Runway SE sewing machine. I have found it super easy to use. It costs about $100 and it has a bunch of stitches! GL!
Great video, Daisy! I tend to stay with the same few stitches, too. But mainly because I haven't figured out how to use some of the more complex ones. I don't have a Brother, and it looks more complicated on my machine. Debbie :)
New subbie! Definitely going to be looking into purchasing me a sewing machine now. Watched tons of vids, and I have tons of scrap paper. Looking at creating a Travelers Notebook insert. Great ideas from your vid! Thanks
Great video and as always you provide so much inspiration to me. I am probably going to have to go buy this sewing machine at Walmart because I like all the stitches you are playing with. :)
What an informational video :) Thank you so much! May I ask what sewing machine do you use? I mean what brand, model, etc :) I am looking for one and I am interested in the one you use here. Thank you in advance.
Hi there, i know this video is very old but i hope this question can be answered. I was wondering if only this type of model that would work on paper sewing? And no other model will? Edit : i know the question sounds dumb but i have never use a sewing machine before and wanted to dive in it soon 😅
Great video with very helpful tips. I love how the collages look sewn together. Could I ask if all your collage pieces are from your digi designs or are they die cuts packs you've bought? TFS :)
Thank you. Great info. On another video, someone mentioned that you shouldn't sew after glueing paper together because it clogs up your machine. Do you know if this is true or not? I just subscribed & liked, too.
Hi! Does stitching on papers damage the machine at all, or just dull the needle? I want to try this, but don't want to buy a machine "just for" this! Thank you!
I've taken it to be serviced almost 2 years ago after sewing with it for almost 2 years and they didn't tell me anything was wrong with it. Just got dusted and oiled. As far as the needle dulling, I just change the needle out when it's not stitching right, I also clean the dust at the same time. I switch from fabric to paper without problems, keep in mind I only sew for jj purposes.
Tbh I've only ever used the Brother's project runway ce1125prw. I was new to sewing and this machine has done me right. I got it at Wal-Mart, please male sure you get the extended warranty. 😊
Thank you guys for watching, commenting and subscribing! It really helps me out. 😊💞

Very cool. Thanks for this amazingly helpful video. I'm wondering, can you sew on vellum? Thanks. Hugs 😙
Kelly
shimmering dragonfly creations I don't see why you couldn't. I don't have any in hand, but I've sewed regular printer paper.

On some machines you can reverse the stitch so that would be helpful with right/left stitches.
I need to learn how to sew!
Good :) Is this just ORDINARY paper, -or a kind of thicker paper?
Thank you. Great info. On another video, someone mentioned that you shouldn't sew after glueing paper together because it clogs up your machine. Do you know if this is true or not? I just subscribed & liked, too.
Leanda Miller I was told that as long as the glue was dry and hard, it would be ok.
Ahh...now that makes sense. Thank you for replying. It's much appreciated.
