Thankyou all for sharing, I'm having my first colonoscopy in five days, at 60 with severe symptoms in my lower bowel I'm very worried, I wish I never waited so long for a first test. Wish me luck, I think I need it. 🤞
I get them every 5 years now and am currently prepping -- almost done ;) I'll never forget the first one. I was to stop eating at midnight and did I ever eat right to the very last minute. I'm lucky the prep was OK and they could do the exam, but I now know how dumb that was. It's now 4:49 am and the event is at 7:30. I cannot wait to eat!!!
Yes thank you! I start my prep in 15 minutes. I’ve gone through it with my son and he was so nauseated. This is in anticipation of an appendectomy next week. In “prep” for my best summer ever!
Congratulations Survivors! I'm 10 oz. away from completing prep and those post op pizzas and full breakfasts sound like this 🤢 to me at this point. Tomorrow, will be different, I'm sure. Power On, heroes!
Thanks for the tips! I had my colonoscopy this afternoon, grateful for the anesthesiologist who not only put me to sleep before, but also woke me up after! I got the suprep down last night, but wasn’t expecting that the bathroom visits would happen last night - I thought that would happen in the morning. Had I known, I would have taken it early in order to enable me to get to bed at the time I wanted. This morning’s suprep was really hard to get down. I had a gag reflex with every sip, but it all worked out. Bathroom visits overall were fine, I think because I use a bidet. There were a few visits where as soon as you finish cleaning and stand up, you are actually ready to go again. I’m surprised at what everyone said their after-meal was. I had a light soup (Amy’s No Chicken Noodle), and struggled to finish that and felt my stomach was very full. I’m looking forward to some fresh fruit and vegetables tomorrow!
I had to prep for a colonoscopy 15 yrs ago and I remember I had to mix that horrible solution with a gallon of water and have it all drunk before a certain amount of time. I was up & down all night going to the bathroom. The procedure didn't go well because I wasn't put to sleep and the doc had to stop after a couple of minutes because I was in excruciating pain. I waited 15 years before I had another one which was in March at the age of 60. This time everything was much better, even the prep. I used Clenpiq which comes in 2 small bottles you don't have to mix with anything. You just drink one bottle the day before at 5pm and the 2nd bottle the morning of and drink a lot of water in between. My tip would be to get out your Vaseline because if you have a sensitive bottom you're going to need it. Even though with the Clenpiq I didn't go to the bathroom as much the solution caused an irritation. Had I known it was going to happen I would have started using the Vaseline before going to the bathroom the first time. I think that would have helped a lot. Also use flushable wipes instead of toilet paper because it's much gentler on the skin. I know this is probably TMI but like I said, if you have sensitive skin & prone to irritation Vaseline & flushable wipes will be your best friend during your prep. I had an uninterrupted night of sleep which scared me because I wasn't comletely cleaned out, but the 2nd bottle of prep solution I had to drink the next day cured that pretty quickly.
Doctor said I'm old now and need a c. I'm terrified beyond words. I'm not sure I can survive til this nightmare is over. I just want to die. This is absolutely horrifying. How does anyone survive this?
Sorry for what you all went and are going through. But I'm not convinced to ever get one. And I don't get the coffee thing it's hardly clear. So why couldn't have a.beer
Get some adult diapers during prep! For some - me - very much a messy situation and couldn’t be five feet away from bathroom during a five hour period.
Have adult diapers so you ruin that and not your cloths or beddding. At this time 2024 they are having me do two days prep. Pure liquid diet , nothing red or purple colors. Along with a cocktail of pills and powder in liquid mix. If night bathroom trips, leave light on and toliet lid up. Easy bottoms for sure!
I’m having my first colonoscopy TOMORROW!!! Nothing bad, I just turned 45. I am in fourth glass of prep (4/8) I am am FULL NOW. Idk how I can do the others 4 😢🫤☹️

Turns out rectal cancer was found and I'm having radiation and chemo followed by surgery. I still wish I had gone for that colonoscopy years sooner😕

I purchased a bidet from Amazon’s few years ago for about 70 bucks. It was a life saver.during my colonoscopy.preparation.
I used a portable bidet that I got on Amazon for $30 and it helped to keep me clean.
