    Just had mine a couple of days. The doctor and nurses were amazing and I chose to be knocked out so it was like aesthesia in and they said you feel tired and the next thing I know I hear my heart beat in the monitor and the nurse slowly waking me up. It was all a blur and a great power nap lol My GI got me to use something called pico lax and like you 2 sachets at 150 ml each which is nothing and then drink 2 to 3 litres of water, gatorade, just not red, purple or blue, or apple juice gradually over the next 4 hours. It was explained it is not a race so don't guzzle it all done at once or you risk throwing it up. Because this process can easily dehydrate you I found orange gatorade was great. The pico lax was amazing because I honestly felt I was drinking orange tang. It took about an hour or less to work and it really cleaned me out. Taking the one the next morning was just as easy because the taste was so yummy and amazing and again about an hour later it flushed me out, but I was clean at that point so it was water in water out. Anyone that is afraid honestly don't be and remember you are doing this for your own health. I hope this helps anyone who reads this :)

    I am now 71 years old and bladder incontinent. I also use a cane. I use adult underwear and quilted bed pads regularly. I'm getting ready for another colonoscopy in about a month. My last one was about 4 years ago. At that time, I knew I would not be able to make it to the bathroom quickly with my bladder issues. So, I had my doctor order a bedside commode. Medicaid/Medicare insurance paid for it. It made the prep evacuation SO much easier and saved me from A LOT of extra mess!
    I do suggest the Gatorade bottles be refrigerated for a couple of days prior to mixing instead of relying on putting the pitcher in after combining ingredients. Everything, including juices, Ensure, etc, could all be readied prior to the start of ingestion time. (Less thinking involved when your energy is lower!) Prayers and blessings to all!!! Be well, stay well!!! 💝💕👍🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

    Love seeing your updates. I’m 36 and had an upper and lower scope done on the same day. Doc found a very small polyp that he said had a 3.6% chance of being cancerous. The worst part of it is the bowel prep. The procedures themselves are a cake walk. 2 weeks after the procedures I get a call saying I tested positive for h pylori, which is a bacteria infection in the stomach that cause symptoms similar to colon cancer. Two weeks of antibiotics and I’m back to feeling like my normal self. My bowel prep was different from yours. I had 2 bottles of magnesium citrate mixed with 16 oz of water. Tasted like very salty cherry cough syrup. Same results nonetheless.

    Thanks so much for posting this, girl! Very informative. I may need a scope soon, as well. Can you explain more what propofol felt like? Like, did you feel it going into your IV? And did you even get drowsy or was it like you were wide awake one second and then waking up the very next second?

    • @SurvivorJelena
      @SurvivorJelena  3 года назад +5

      I didn’t feel either drug going into my IV. Within probably 10 seconds my eyelids got heavy and I closed them, then I was out. It was like taking a nap...I didn’t feel like I had only been out for a second, I knew I had been out for a bit.

      @@SurvivorJelena @xcalabur18 I also wondered about propofol. I've had 2 colonoscopies. The first time I didn't feel the propofol. The second time I felt a warm sensation (it was not painful or uncomfortable--just a sensation). Just about as soon as I felt the warm sensation I started waking up because the colonoscopy was over! You go to sleep quickly. No reason to be concerned.

    Hi! I'm in preparation now, scheduled for tomorrow. This is my second one after 3 years because my gastro found polips that were removed and she wants to see me again. My husband passed away from Colon cancer when he was 49 and no family history for this illness. The prep is not funny but is very important. Don't procrastinate this test!

    Just got my coloscopy today - prep was exactly as you describe it in this video. The only difference is that I was only required to take 3 of the stool softeners instead of 4. I also lucked out that my procedure was early in the morning .. which made my 2nd dose at 11:30pm .. which allowed me to actually get a few hours of sleep. I did put a towel down on the bed just in case .. but I lucked out and actually got to sleep for a few hours 🤣.Procedure itself was completely painless and I am glad I went through it.

    26:54 The lidocaine is not for operative or post operative pain.
    It is to numb the vein to counter the burning sensation of the propofol.
    Anesthesiologists even have a acronym for this: POPI….Pain On Propofol Injection.
    Pain at the site of venous access is a well known side effect of IV propofol, and the lidocaine push prior to propofol (sometimes with a tourniquet to allow the lidocaine time to work) seems to be the most widely accepted practice to reduce incidences of POPI.

Nothing but things that are toxic except 2 of them that feed cancer as well. Plus by fasting it makes the prep a breeze because you're not pooping out as much. Best wishes. 😊

    I found after experience with a few colonoscopies, that the day before the procedure, I don't eat anything and only drink water, is the best way. 1 hour after beginning to drink the laxitive, everything what was left in my bowel from what I ate 2 days before, comes out in one time, and that is not much. After that it is only watery a few times and I can go to sleep, without any disturbans. The next morning the second drink, and water just also comes out in one time. So , for me now it is not difficult to prep before an colonoscopy anymore.

    Damn. I am having a procedure on Monday at 7:30am. It’s currently Thursday. Your video has my anxiety at a 10 🤦🏻‍♀️. I’m 59 years old and it’s my first one. My baby brother passed from colon cancer at age 39. In 2016. He didn’t know he had it until it was stage 4. Chemo sped up the cancer. And he died 3 months later. I’m doing this but still anxious 🤦🏻‍♀️

    May I suggest have plenty of adult pullups, large absorbent pads to put inside the pullups, disposable chux, cloth reusable chux to protect the bed, chairs and car. Wear loose shorts/pants wirh an elastic waiatband (no buttons or zippers) so you won't be delayed going to the bathroom, as you will have literally seconds to get to the restroom.

    I finished my prep for my first colonoscopy which is in a couple hours. I’m curious…. why is this prep so invasive compared to the process I did with the two little bottles of grossness? I knew how bad cramping can be when taking Dulcolax. You took so many along pills along with all the Miralax. I think I would pass out with all that.
