    My compliments, a lot of time, work and money. I know, I did it 3 times because I have 3 of them: a 1967 sedan, sunroof and convertible. That full-collapsing radio antenna is a nice option. I think the red interior was a good choice. My understanding is that the 1967 European Beetle still had the glass headlight covers, whereas the USA versions had just the sealed beam. You must be glad it's finished.

    • @AstonishingGlasgow
      @AstonishingGlasgow  7 лет назад +2

      Thanks. Thats my second Beetle as well as a '72 camper and a '70 Type3 fastback. I keep saying never again but before I know it another project arrives. Cant wait for summer to get it out again. In 1967 the 1300 and 1500 got the upright headlamps similar to the US (though not sealed beam) but this car being a 1200 and the cheapest in the range it retained the sloping headlamps and 5 bolt wheels.

    Great video! I especially liked it when the owners didn’t quit after they let Fester sit for a couple of years, but continued to work on Fester when most people would have thrown in the towel after letting a restoration project sit that long. On thing I would like to do sometime is buy some old rust bucket right hand drive Beetle from the U.K., bring it home here to the U.S., and build it into a show winner! 😊

    Gorgeous! Winning the "Best Paint" award is quite an achievement, Volkswagens of this vintage came finished from the factory with paint quality equal to (some say better than) that of Rolls Royce. I think it was the dipping. My family history with these vehicles goes back to 1944 (long story) but my favorite was our '66. Yours reminds me so much of that car, and your video took me back in time. I was 3, and mom would let me ride in the luggage well behind the rear seat when we weren't in traffic. Couldn't legally do that these days, but it was the 60s. Thanks for posting such a great video!

    I restored fully a vw beetle 1964, it is wonderful when you are working during the project, I have so many people who like the car and they want buy it, I love this beetle before I had a 1973 beetle but I was a fool and sell it. When the vw factory in Mexico fabricated the last beetle 2003 year model, I could buy one of them but I prefer restore the 1964 because this is a classic really. I must tell spended a lot of money during the restore more than the 2003 new cost version, after all I am very happy with my beetle it is unique and it is really a part of me.

      BTJustice no we get the same weather black ice,snow ect but we don’t use salt instead they use grit very fine gravel and that works well but can scratch you car along the rocker panels.

    • @AstonishingGlasgow
      @AstonishingGlasgow  5 лет назад

      You are right, its the salt that does the damage and here in Scotland they now add a sugar compound to make the salt stick to the road. As you can imagine it means that the sald now sticks to cars even worse and dogs like to lick the road so double hazzard.
