    Something interesting you didn't mention yet. During the public consultation, they revealed that in addition to the 480 acres of land they have already purchased, there are also options for additional land they're considering. Maybe this implies that the fields to the left of the main theme park area might be purchased. That will give universal enough room for a full second gate, leaving the awkwardly shaped northern parcel for hotels and a giant indoor waterpark.

    • @Whothem
      @Whothem 3 месяца назад +4

      I was curious about that also, if they wish to expand in the future, how much more can they purchase. Hopefully they buy it sooner rather than later before it becomes too expensive or people start to object.

    • @isunlloaoll
      @isunlloaoll 3 месяца назад +1

      @Whothem I think those fields to the West of the main park site are a given. Perfectly situated across the main entrance area, with the main transport hub and CityWalk area in the middle.

      the area they can purchase is already known, in the document that was released a while back it shows the Red Line Boundary which is basically all the available land Universal can purchase if they want to

    • @MrUltrAdaman
      @MrUltrAdaman 3 месяца назад +2

      I think they mention it in the documents already released and that it was mostly to do with the land for the stations and along the A road for the junction. Might be wrong though.

    • @redstar5858
      @redstar5858 3 месяца назад

      The option to purchase land is the land for the access from the A421 and the east to west rail station.
      They need to be very careful about the land to the west. It's an old landfill site ie mounds of decomposing rubbish. If you look on top of the mounds you'll see lots of tubes. These are to vent off methane gas. I guess it's possible to develop but it'll be expensive and not without risk.

    I don’t think absence of Potter would be the end of the world - the indications we’ve had have been that Universal don’t want to cannibalise European visits to the Florida parks, so we should probably expect most of the lands and rides to be new or reskinned ones.
    There have been plenty of rumours about a possible LOTR world, which would honestly be waay more exciting than Potter.

    It would be in WB interest to partner with universal for Harry Potter. WB have the studio tour and the HP gallery tour. If they partner they could sell a package and have a bus that goes from universal to studio tour every hour which would take just under an hour each way. People would jump at the chance to see the studio tour while they are on a non theme park day during their visit

    • @indigopeas4047

      I’m an avid HP fan. But I’ve not been to Leavesden for over 2 years because the journey there & back is off putting for me. I was coming around to deciding on either driving up, doing the tour, staying the night nearby (either through one of their packages or just buying individual elements myself), then driving home the next day, or getting a train there & back. Now with UGB a hot potential, I would definitely become a Universal pass holder, definitely get the train to Universal (3 hours for me currently, but might be improved by Universal’s infrastructure upgrades work), stay the night, visit the Leavesden tour, then train home, several times a year. You don’t need to be a HP fan to find the tour highly attractive & worth repeat visits as there are constant refreshes, upgrades etc. And it’s not as if they would compete each other as they offer entirely different but complementary experiences. I think there are thousands of others coming to that same decision, in the UK alone, let alone visitors from abroad. So yes, I totally agree, it would be a win win decision for WB to grant licensing to Universal.
      And well done Alicia (Theme Park Stop) for already clocking weeks ago that Universal would be making the decision in June. Since Alicia flushed out a response & reaction from Universal within 24 hours re the land being bought with a potential view to building a resort here, they’d be better off not trying to keep that decision hidden from her June news desk. What a super sleuth that new mum is!

      That's a really good idea. There's also a safari park about 15 mins drive from the site too that could also partner with Universal.

      WB isn't stupid. The HP worlds make so much money in Universal that to not include any in USGB would be foolish and leave a large amount of money on the table. Heck, butterbeer alone probably accounts for multiple millions of dollars a year.

  • @AsheZ_X
    @AsheZ_X 3 месяца назад +5

    From what I can tell, the WB brand sold the theme park rights to Universal over a decade ago - so I believe it could be on the cards. Even if they did own the rights, I don't see why WB would block it. An opportunity to make some money from Universal AND bolster the number of potential visitors to the Studio Tour is a win-win situation. It's not like they're competing because they're very different attractions. Universal GB's main competition will be Disneyland Paris - and that's it. All other attractions occupy other niches that they can co-exist, or even gain benefit, from Universal GB's construction.

    It seems to me that the top execs already made their minds to go ahead with this. They have to follow procedures by going through with the feedback from the locals and report to their bosses in meetings before making a firm official public decision. This is a truly transformational project that no one saw coming that'll change the region forever in a good way as long there's infrastructure in place to cope with the demand. 8.5 millions visitors per year is staggering for an area that I casually use as a shortcut via Manor Road.

    • @Zveebo
      @Zveebo 3 месяца назад +1

      Yeah, they’ve obviously spent a lot of money on this already, so I really can’t see them withdrawing, unless there was massive local opposition which might make them think getting it through planning would be impossible. But thankfully, that doesn’t seem to be there at the moment, and proper engagement like this should avoid issues down the line. They seem to be being pretty smart about this!

    Can't wait for the moment in 2 months time when Universal confirm that they're building it!
    Come on... it has to happen at this point with all of the positive news coming out. I don't think I've actually seen anything against it yet which seems kind of astonishing!
    Whilst not having Harry Potter in the park seems like a downer maybe it's a good thing as it means they will have to use other IP's and plus LOTR has a few wizards! Think of the price they could charge for an interactive staff! 😆

    • @indigopeas4047
      @indigopeas4047 3 месяца назад +1

      It makes financial sense for WB to partner with Universal on HP but a significant number of indoor attractions + UK IPs bodes well for the likes of LotR or Narnia 🤞🏽

    The main thing they really need to be careful of with the trains specifically on the Thameslink side is making sure they don’t disrupt or delay people getting to Luton Airport, especially early in the morning and late at night.

After watching this, becoming more excited & positive this is possibly gonna become a reality. Look forward to see updates about what happens in future? Cheers, by the way, do we get feedback opportunities on rides, attractions and plans concept arts? Like can we now at this stage give ideas to resort for ideas on rides etc? Lands? Or not? As have a lot of ideas, would love to suggest? Gonna be good if does get green light, hopefully a 007 Stunt show or Waterworld? Or both? 🤔😀👍

    I didn't even think about the park operating during winter. Do ANY of the other Universal parks or Disney parks operate in a climate that gets freezing weather and snow during winter? I wonder how they will control snow removal and maintain walkways and everything. Gonna be a LOT of work.

      Disneyland Paris does and often opens in the snow, Tokyo Disney (and maybe Universal Japan?) do too. Also Universal in Beijing put many of their rides indoors because of the weather. I don't think the snow here is often too bad so hopefully it will be OK

    I've submitted feedback on the project site - hoping that it does go ahead. I'm one of those who would be looking at season tickets, going very regularly - also bringing along the family. I wouldn't be down about a lack of a wizarding land - the park would be pretty close to the Warner Brothers Studio Tour, and a new wizarding world would result in some loss of ticket sales - which Warners would not be happy about.

      Book sales show no signs of slowing down even though the last main series book was released nearly 20 years ago. Book sales imo is the best indicator that the franchise is not slowing down. Plus we also have the 10+ year HBO show, which if it does well will likely spawn multiple spin offs similar to what HBO does with GoT.
      (It's also important to contextualise when you say "hotly debated", it is amongst an extremely small minority that her opinions are debated. The vast majority of people do not view JK Rowling as a controversial figure.)

    • @louisarosina
      @louisarosina 3 месяца назад +1

      A lot of people are asking for LotR, James Bond, Paddington… all are franchises older than Harry Potter. Jurassic Park is also still a popular IP for Universal. Did people think back in the 80s that Star Wars and Ghostbusters would still be popular today? Despite what some people think of JK Rowling, it’s still as popular and I don’t think Universal would have any concerns if they included HP in Universal GB.
