I live in Havering (though not Rainham) and had no idea how close we came to having a Universal Studios!!! I even thought when Paramount pulled out of the London Resort that Universal should step in because London would be a perfect addition for them. Also, with the UK now out of the EU and no longer having freedom of movement, we NEED something that will encourage those in Mainland Europe to come here, after all, they have some fantastic parks of their own. Chessington, Thorpe Park and Legoland Windsor are great, but they're goldfish compared to the sharks that are Disney & Universal parks. I have my fingers crossed for The London Project, but it seems to have stalled at its current stage for several years so my hope is waning :(
@FN-1701AgentGodzillaRangerPrime-El I mean, they probably wouldn't have rioted at least and I can't see London Times or even The Sun putting out a call to burn the place down like that one french columnist did.
I feel the Studio Tour is 10x better than Wizarding World. Sure you dont have any rides there. But I like the authenticity of the costumes, props & sets, and they're regularly adding new stuff...
I live in Upminster, the town next to Rainham and remember some of this happening. I now work in Grays, which is on the other side of the Thames to the London Resort. BTW Rainham is in London and ironically Swanscombe, home to the London Resort isn’t, its in Kent.
The guy in the sneak peek video is like the British version of that guy from the late 90s-early 00s Disney preview videos. Less crass but just as cheesy 😂
The London Resort was then another plan that did not happen. The company went bust this month. The weather in Europe only allows for seasonal parks outside Spain and Italy. There are also local operators with successful parks and generally Europeans - while they like theme parks - are less in love with it than Americans. The use of space and the environmental impact is senn more critical. And for the UK, Brexit has likely been the final nail in the coffin for really big parks as it puts up another hurdle for travel at least from inside Europe and also makes the construction more difficult and more expensive.
You should make a video about how you think Universal London would affect the rest of the parks if it ever got built. For example, it would probably be the first park to get the wizarding world

din't no any of this. but so glad London Commercial. love still get. great history London.
yeah!
I prefer a nature reserve near London TBH, we deff need some kind of theme park in the area thats not Thorpe Park but... I don't know, it really should be on a brownfield site somewhere, I've got no answers but I'm glad the marshes were let be :)
Would love to hear about the plans for Warner Brothers' plans for a theme park there.
Now there is rumor that there planning Universal Studios London which will be in the town of Bedford which they might open by 2030
This needs to open!!!!!
I wish universal held on to those elaborate 3D billboards for all their attractions
Basically the forerunner to the london resort
Whilst we're in this area of the world, I think Fantaseas in Dartford deserves an Expedition Extinct as the UK's first indoor waterpark.
will take a look!
I have my fingers crossed for The London Project, but it seems to have stalled at its current stage for several years so my hope is waning :(
I hope so too!
After a crappy night of work, I was very pleased to see this is up as I go to bed. Good way to redeem the day.
hope tomorrow is better for you!
*WOW!* Thanks for enlightening me with another 'what might have been' theme park story! :)
thank you for watching!
@@ExpeditionThemePark Anytime. :)
I’ve never understood why Disney didn’t go with the UK instead of Paris for Euro Disneyland
I'm guessing more travel links with the rest of mainland Europe allowed for more tourism opportunity. Would love to see a UK Disney park.
@FN-1701AgentGodzillaRangerPrime-El I mean, they probably wouldn't have rioted at least and I can't see London Times or even The Sun putting out a call to burn the place down like that one french columnist did.
travel links and money
Well, there's the conservationists putting up roadblocks.
Love your videos! You should do a video about the never built Paramount theme park in Spain
Great suggestion!
I'm surprised that it hasn't happened yet but then again would these companies be willing to take another risk like Disney did going to Paris again?
Since Ratatouille is opening at Epcot this year, you should make an episode on the French Pavilion.
good idea!
Merlin needs a real rival to force them to improve Thorpe Park.
I feel the Studio Tour is 10x better than Wizarding World.
Sure you dont have any rides there. But I like the authenticity of the costumes, props & sets, and they're regularly adding new stuff...
I really wish we could have gotten a universal park in Europe ☺️❤️
Imagine godzilla came to the London resort as a ride
wouldn't mind!
Godzilla vs Kong!
I live in Upminster, the town next to Rainham and remember some of this happening. I now work in Grays, which is on the other side of the Thames to the London Resort. BTW Rainham is in London and ironically Swanscombe, home to the London Resort isn’t, its in Kent.
And here we are... 30 years later.. talking about The London Resort... Which 5 years later still is no further along than talk and PR...
they did submit planning to the government 2 weeks ago
Would LOVE a Universal Studios in UK. Went to Florida's and it was great!
I would love for the UK to have some mainstream parks like Universal. Especially with Harry Potter!
it would be amazing!
No, not again this time one in Bedford hopefully
If this was real I think it could easily rival Alton for best UK park
Oh 100 percent. London needs a good park.
The guy in the sneak peek video is like the British version of that guy from the late 90s-early 00s Disney preview videos. Less crass but just as cheesy 😂
hahah right
The London Resort was then another plan that did not happen.
For example, it would probably be the first park to get the wizarding world
Please do a regular Expedition Unbuilt series!
this is kinda a test to see how it does and if people like it! :)
@@ExpeditionThemePark may I humbly make a recommendation for unbuilt? ALIENS 3D. The script is on the alien anthology blu ray boxed set and I saw a few pieces of concept art on the defunct goddard website but that’s all we know about it
@@Maniac536 Yeah.
I’d love to see that as part of the Expedition Unbuilt series.
0:45 - Reminds me of superhero movies in the 90s
Technically there has been a Universal Studios in Europe (Spain):
Port Aventura is a Universal Studio's theme park on the Costa Daurada, the only one operated by the group in Europe. Port Aventura is made up of the Universal Studios Port Aventura theme park, the Costa Caribe water park, the Hotel El Paso, the Hotel Port Aventura, a Beach Club and the Ferrari Land park.
