Great detailed info, enjoyed it . I appreciate the shout out to my cringy old video. If I knew how historical that footage would now be I would have taken it more seriously with its presentation. Ahh the early days of RUclips . Keep up the good work
Well said Adam! Let this be a reminder that what YOU do truly matters. Maybe not today, and maybe not tomorrow, but someday your video diaries will bring a special memory back for someone who needs to be reminded.
hi adam im chris from sarnia Ont..you were my 1st subscription!! when i found ur channel i went back and wached and liked all ur vids!! keep up the great work, isnt jake amazing?
My mom, dad, my younger brother and I had a tour of the Universal Studios Orlando, Nickelodeon Studios back in 1991 because my younger brother got an opportunity to eat some Orange slime which tasted like Oranges.
I'd imagine an old rich millennial making a home out of this & raising his hers kids in it. I also imagine the parent being super giddy about sliming their kids & kids just being annoyed & 2 kool
The opportunity is there, the hard part NOW, would be reproducing or obtaining the things of their heyday to make it an attraction for kids like me who grew up watching it.
The original Abandoned video on Nickelodeon Studios was the first video from this channel I saw back in 2015. It’s been an amazing journey to see how far Jake has come since he started Abandoned years ago. He has since created other series on this channel like Bankrupt and Cancelled. I’m excited to see what Jake has in store for us in the future.
I was on Family Double Dare in 1997. Before taping, the producers gave us an all-access pass to the building. Touring it and simply being there was a magical, unforgettable experience. 💜
Same. I went with my family when I was little and Double Dare was one of my favorite shows. The producers approached my parents and asked if I wanted to do one of the the challenges for shifting to the commercial promo. I agreed and basically did the tunnel run before basically refusing to leave the stage. Same trip they had the star trek bridge command going.
I'm 37 now and grew up during Nick's golden age of animation and scripted shows. Even as an adult, I can go back and watch episodes of Pete & Pete, Ren & Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, Doug, and others, and I'm still really impressed by the creative freedom and production quality of those shows. The early-mid 90s was a great time to be a kid!
Agreed. It was an amazing time to be alive. Before the Internet took over our brains, and after school cartoons were the highlight of our entertainment!
Going to Nickelodeon Studios as a kid in the 90s was PURE MAGIC. Better than any Disney trip. Especially for a 7-11 year old. There was nothing more cool and exciting than getting to go into that place. It was mainly WHY you went to Universal. It was the coolest experience I ever had in any theme park. It BREAKS my heart that its no more.
Everything about this studio’s demise makes me sad. I wish there were a way to recapture the feelings of fun, goofy creativity it helped inspire when my friends and I were kids. Even our local McDonald’s looks like a bank now.
Back in 2021 I actually worked in the building. I worked with the park insights team and we had an office in stage 19 on the 3rd floor. Sometimes there would just be random props and cutouts lining the stairwells. Our main conference room looked out over the soundstage, which was completely barren and empty at all times. It was a weird, liminal place to be in. Later in the year, we moved to a different and more modern floor in the same building to accommodate for our staff pool growing.
@@BrightSunFilms Yeah, it was fascinating. I’d assumed they threw everything out, but some promotional things were still there. When we moved out, the new tenant threw everything out. It was like watching childhood memories being thrown in the trash. Sad stuff
As a 90’s kid, this breaks my heart. Thanks for doing this episode. I miss the aesthetics of this time, they were so focused on fun and being a kid, not turning into a mini adult at 12 or even sooner.
i never liked nickelodeon as a kid, cartoon network on the other hand.. i hated this flashy, cringy esthetic of nickelodeon and the overacting of kids too, i preferred cartoons or just more adult movies i guess, even as a kid.
@@skateinspace While I was watching it I noticed that blond kid from the opening clips with that really screamingly early '90s bowl cut. 50/50 chance he's bald now.
I am a current Universal Studios Florida Employee and can confirm that this building is used daily but mainly for a lot of different events external and internal. It's been mainly remodeled to be all offices, rehearsal spaces, meeting spaces, and even where public shows are held. Even after the Blue Man group has left. It is really cool to walk through the halls as an employee knowing that a lot of the shows I gre up watching were filmed there and walking the same halls as the cast and crew did back in the 90s. However, there is no longer any signs of what used to be there. No left over art, walls have been repainted, and a lot of the interior have been remodeled. I will also state that I have not been fully in the entire structure so I can only speak to the areas I have been to and seen. The issue is as you stated, filming is not very popular here. Most filming is done by college students at either UCF or Full Sail. After they graduate, they move to the west coast, Georgia, or even New York.
What a delightful program! For context, I'm 72 years old, live in the FL panhandle, have no kids, but loved watching Nickelodeon in the "Cow & Chicken" and "Ren & Stimpy" era. Thanks for helping me remember days gone by. 💙
I’ve lived in Florida almost all my life, and as a kid I used to take so much pride in knowing Nickelodeon Studios was in my state and that I lived so close to it. When they moved filming to CA it felt like something was being taken from me. It’s like when Cartoon Network started airing live actions shows and they stopped using the black and white checkerboard logo. The vibe just completely changed - you feel the corporate takeover on another level.
Us 90's kids are dinosaurs now....everything we loved, we thought it was revolutionary and it would last forever....nope. just another flavor of the year.
I remember watching Adamthewoo's videos of him sneaking in, and the murals still being painted on the walls after so many years, like it was frozen in time. I always had hoped it would get to be the Nickelodeon studios again.

Thank you so much for this video! I was born in 1990 and my family went here when i was around 10 or 11 maybe (im unsure) We got in line here to see a show and a voice came over the intercom and asked if kids wanted to audition. I auditioned and got to be on slime time live. It was raining that day so it was all inside. I remember walking in and seeing Legends of the Hidden Temple folded up on the wall like an accordion. I remember thinking how small the set was even as a kid. We played the Slime Time Live game in a commercial break during a spongebob episode. The caller won the game and I was slimed. They gave us a towel to clean our hair but not a shower or anything. I walked out under those orange pillars and spent the rest of the day at the park. This video gave me major nostalgia and i admit i teared up a little just thinking about how much fun i had. Thank you for this video!
So weird seeing footage of this place I went to over 25 years ago, back when I was so young that the memory of sitting in the audience for a filming of Double Dare feels more like a dream than an actual memory.
Same here. My dad and I were pulled from the audience and had the chance to do one of the shows. It’s crazy to see it looking so “retro” in this video!
i’m having the opposite feeling. I’ve seen that building be that bare white with the blue man group on it since i can remember. So weird to just find out what that used to be
My family always went to Disney as a child and despite being from Florida, I didn't go to Universal until I was almost 30. Now that I finally have kids and annual passes to Universal, the place is of course an abandoned husk outside of Grinchmas. 😔
“As the doors closed for one final time and those iconic once abandoned interiors finally cleared out, I guess at the end of the day, both its viewers and the network grew up”. 😔 bitter sweet, but well said.
I was 11 when I first saw your video in 2015. I went down a whole 90’s spiral lol. I marveled at how ancient, but recent the 90’s felt. I heard AdamTheWoo talk about Surge energy drinks in *his* video, which led me to wanting to buy some Surge lol. I ended up going with my family in 2018 to Universal, but unfortunately not getting a chance to even get a peak of the structure. I plan to visit it some day, and ponder at the 90’s Nickelodeon branding hidden underneath, the millions of people who passed by it, unknowing of its demise, the viewers of your original video *and* this one, and just imagine how that time was, a time which sadly I will never know. I’m 19 now and still love your vids Jake. Thanks for providing quality. ❤
I just kept going “awwwww!!” Throughout this whole video. Wow, the nostalgia really hit hard! I feel so lucky I got to grow up in this unique little era.
My office was on the 2nd floor of B17 for 3 years! We had space in former mixing rooms and the film storage areas. Thanks for bringing back lots of memories!
The conversion of Nickelodeon's studio from bright, creative and artistic to painted-over bland was a painfully good analogy for the way the world went from pre-2001 optimism to literally having the color and joy in life sucked away into our dystopian present. (And if you wanted a followup, I wonder if anything's left to see in Cartoon Network's old HQ now?)
Man, as a kid seeing all the spectacle of the millennium celebrations and the excitement, it’s really disconcerting how fast everything turned to what it is now
@@bluestorm9651 It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, but we weren't in a 20 year war yet, 2008 financial crisis, etc etc. And bright, colorful places were definitely still a thing.
@@Talendale Fair enough. I'm 41 and I remember it. And many people did have a good life then. I and my parent were living in poverty. Personally, my life is better today. I don't have to beg for food or gas.
What a blast from the past. I grew up in Orlando in the 80s and 90s and went to Universal Studios and Nickelodeon Studios a ton of times. I always wanted to be on one of the game shows but only ever made it to the live audience.
I was a VIP tour guide and remember taking my guests in to the tour and getting them into the psuedo show taping (they did a pretend show production of a double dare like show). This was 2000. Everyone loved it including me! I loved seeing this video. Good times long gone. Thanks for making this and all your great vids Jake!
I grew up watching Nickelodeon and could only ever dream of visiting Nickelodeon Studios. It literally looked like the greatest place on the planet. By my teenage years, I completely forgot this place ever existed. Watching this video triggered so many visual memories which have laid dormant in my head for 25+ years.
Awesome video!! I remember being a kid and watching a production of Double Dare while on vacation with my grandparents. This definitely brought me back and even made me a little sad at the same time. Thanks for the memories! ❤
The last family vacation we took as a whole family in 1994(my sister died in 1996) included the highly anticipated trip to universal studios/nickelodeon. I relived some of my very best memories of that life through your video. Legends of the lost temple was our favorite show - she got to audition! Thank you for this thank you so much.
@@chriscampbell3417 Thanks yes it is, he looks so different than in terminator 2! So i wasnt sure. also looks like another 80s actor I couldnt remember the name of.
I think it's a shame they closed the Nickelodeon studios in Florida. I grew up watching the shows that were filmed there and I always felt like the fact that they were filmed there instead of California gave those shows a different feel and made them better. They had all those people in their audience that were on vacation from different places and they would interview them and have them participate in some of the shows and it gave them a fun, casual, relaxed vacation kind of vibe that came through even to someone watching at home. It seemed more accessible to regular people and didn't have that manufactured fake feel of Hollywood produced TV. I think it's good for there to be more national TV produced outside of California and New York City and it's a shame there's not more of it.
@@nomadcowatbkthe era in Orlando in the late 80s early 90s is a one off. The Disney studio productions and all the talent scouting that came out of the time. Lead to all sorts of other things coming into fruition, Notably the stars from Mickey mouse club. And Back street boys met their Succubus manager. Who then also backed N*SYNC. Just to give an example.
So true. Unfortunately Hollyweird doesn’t like normal, average, or typical so it doesn’t surprise me that any of this happened. It’s such a shame - seems like those shows featured more of the slice of life crowd and not the cash cow that hollyweird needs in order to thrive.
As someone who works at Universal Orlando currently, i use to be one of the trainers for the new employees and i would always show the bathroom floors that have the slim on the tiles. I would always ask if the new hires knew what it was from but most do not. I always would explain it since i am usually fascinated of what once was. It is sad to walk through that courtyard and think that it was once filled daily by people excited to be there only for it now to be closed off to regular guests.
There's a generation gap now, millennials are no longer the new hires and now are middle management. Gen Z didn't grow up with it so they don't remember.
Do you think they’d allow you inside to do a video of what it looks like in 2024. You could always say “I took pictures when I was a trainer there, I’d love some more for the closure of that album” lol. Sorry, the closest I got to it was being told “Legends of the hidden temple no longer films there, the studios closed” back in 2001
You just go in there and take videos and don't get caught. Other people have that aren't even employees. They will never ever agree to anything being filmed there and then you will be put on their radar in addition to being told no. You definitely do not need to be asking. @@RaevynNightCosplay
Great Video! Crazy how from 2015 to now peoples view of Nickelodeon especially After watching Quiet On Set and all the information coming out it just feels so eeeek to me
I remember after watching "The History Of The Nick Hotel" by another channel, Defunctland, the original abandoned Nick video by BSF was recommended to me, and that was how I found this channel. Great to see another Nick Studio video, talking more about the history, and the interesting, yet sadly not so great life Nick Studio's Florida had. But, I fell in love with your work back in 2018, Jake. And I still love your videos to this day, another great one as always! ❤
I went through there as a kid with my family. Crazy how it just fell off the map like it never existed. Nick & Nick @ night was by far one of the best things us 90s kids had. Next to Cartoon Network & Disney, Nickelodeon was peaked in every aspect.
Damn this video really hit me in the heart. Born in '87, and grew up in the 90's watching Nick when it was at it's peak. Reminds me when things in life were a lot easier. Never got to visit Nick Studios, but that image of the colored pencil drawing they would show at the end of many televised shows is burned into my mind. Thanks for making this video.
I was born in 2000 but i didn't grow up watching much nickelodeon at all. It's only in the past couple years that I've started to go through a lot of the Nickelodeon media from the 90s and 2000s. I will say I'm impressed with most of the stuff from these decades and understand why the channel and so many of the shows are considered culturally iconic. I love their use of bright, colorful aesthetics and continued embrace of the 80s-90s maximalist stylings long after most other channels have become bland and lifeless. Even today, they seem to have maintained a distinctive channel identity better than pretty much any other channel, and I'm impressed with how much positive messaging they put into interstitial spaces.
Honestly I cired watching this video. The other day I was watching my old VHS tapes my dad made beck in 04 when I was 9 years old, and it made me so happy to have visited this area back then. My parents at the time spent so much money and time to take me to this place and it was a dream come true! Cried like a baby watching those home videos brought so many memories and looking at this video made it all come back! Nickelodeon will always hold a special place in my heart! TV nowadays will never hold a candle, the slime was ahead of its time! Thank you for this video! Great way to end and start 2024 as a 28 yr old I love to look back at my childhood!
Growing up in Florida, going to Nickelodeon Studios at Universal was a pivotal part of life. I remember everything about it. This was one of my favorite places in the park 😢
Disgraceful that they redid the interiors as well - they should have left it as part of their charm. But they have to “modernize” eveyy thing to a soulless dull concept per usual.
@@badabingpixtures3675 Why would they keep the interior the same if it has no relevance to its new purpose? Just because things didn't work out shouldn't mean whoever leases those buildings in the future should be expected to preserve things as some sort of monument to what it used to be.
@@MrCobalt I get that but if you are repurposing the building to a production house (which is in the same realm as the buildings prior function), it is a unique/distinct feature of the building that adds to the charm current function. It’s a creative space that stakes a claim that any other production house cannot. Admittedly, I’m a bit of a curmudgeon about these kind of things and it’s just my opinion. But I understand your point.
Wonderfully done! I'm an 80s kid and I remember watching the burial of the time capsule. It was so exciting! This video brought back so many childhood memories!
A very touching video Jake. You really did a good job of capturing the nostalgia and good memories we had. So sad to see how things we loved growing up seem to just fade into nothingness. Makes me appreciate how short life really is and treasure the time we have.
Yes it really was a good video and it really is so true on that aside from old Nick going there's Blockbuster, Borders and a whole lot going out from our childhoods even the Malls and arcades are no longer around now and highly doubt kids today are looking there.
Hopefully Another show will take over maybe hopefully if we will see Maybe something like maybe The Lorax Live that based on the 2012 Movie we could see that happened anytime soon if they replaced it with another show
If it weren’t for the original Nickelodeon Studios episode of Abandoned showing up in my recommendations 8 years ago, I would have never found your channel, so I’m glad the episode got a sequel/remake.
Hollywood never likes to drift too far from the core. They struggle with studios in far away overseas lands unless they can use very cheap labour to make their stuff. Being in Florida would be akin to being in another far away country and you couldn't sap the cheap labor that they love to use.
Far be it from me to care about some corporation, but did you even watch this video? It actually cost them less in terms of labor to have a studio in Florida, but none of the actors wanted to live in Florida, the weather created issues with sound stages (rain on the metal roofs), the constant flood of tourists walking through was more of a distraction for those trying to create shows (universal was having similar issues) and in many cases they had to pretend to be filming shows just to hold up their end of the contract. Because of compounding issues like this, they were running the place at a loss, where as in California, they'd have to spend more on labor, but wouldn't be buried under other unforeseen problems that filming in Florida as part of a theme park resulted in. That's what led to them leaving. Simple business decision to have to bail on the venture in Florida.
Watching Nickelodeon on TV back in the day. It still holds a special place inside me. Memories! I remember My Mom took me to Universal Studios Florida back in 1999. Took a awesome tour inside the Nickelodeon studios and saw the set of "Figure It Out". Now at the age of 37 I still enjoy looking back at pictures from trip and watching the old cartoons and shows. I remember the first video you uploaded 8 years ago. Still great and this one as well.
As an Australian kid that grew up watching early Nick and Cartoon Network, it's heartbreaking knowing I'll never get to see the studios and parks from my childhood.
For long time back in 2016, i discovered this channel when Abandoned had only 17 episodes and the recent one at that time was "Journey Into Imagination". I think the first one i watched was on "Disney Skyway" and ever since i was watching all the time. I really enjoyed your way of delivering and building your content with that great research and simple yet effective style. Even as an person that isnt nostalgic to many of those places, i felt interested in them and i would enjoyed checking them out if i had been at those times. With other series like Bankrupt and Cancelled, this was the main if i wanted to learn something. Jake, you really made my day and i hope this will continue for many years. We are close yet far to the big 100 episode and i will be there to see it and support it.
This was the first video I saw from your channel. Incredible to know I’ve been subbed that long and that you’ve grown so much editing wise, script wise, everything wise basically!
I was a HUGE Nick kid growing up, I was able to see it back in 1995 and even did the tour. All I remember is that I was in a fever dream state of shock, it was too surreal standing by the fountain that I’ve have seen so many times on TV. My parents have no idea how happy I was being there 🥲
Me too! My era was a smidge earlier; I believe I visited in early 1991. But yeah, it was basically the realization of all my childhood hopes and dreams, and I don't even think my parents realized they'd given me the gift of a lifetime. They thought Disney was the main attraction of our trip to Orlando! And sure, Disney was fun but...I'll remember that Nick studio tour at Universal as long as I live. I watched every single thing that network put out, it always felt like they made stuff truly for kids without talking down to us.
So much nostalgia... I was picked to be on an episode of Slime Time Live in 2001. You could definitely tell by that time it was well after the studio's heyday but I remember still being in awe. I remember the room they put us in to go over everything was the room where they did the double dare obstacle course and they still had a few of the larger props sitting along the walls. As a 12 year old who grew up with the nick game shows, that was kind of surreal.
I used to work at Nickelodeon in Orlando, Florida. I worked inside the building until the final days. I haven’t been inside since '05. Having to leave this place was upsetting. I’m glad people still remember Nickelodeon in Florida.
I saw the original version when it came out a decade ago, and I've been on and off watching your videos ever since. I've been waiting for a new version of this for a LONG time and now it's here. This puts a smile on my face... Here's hoping for another decade and the building to be turned into a Nick museum! Idea: Segaworld Sydney.
I toured Nickelodeon Studios when I was 8 years old in 1998. I was so excited. We got to see the stage where they filmed Figure it Out which was absolutely my favorite show at the time. We also got to see a filming of Double Dare. So fun. I was there at the right age and right time for ultimate impact. I recently told my nieces and nephews that I went to Nickelodeon Studios, and I had to explain to them what that even was.
Watching this actually made me feel kinda depressed. Ive always dreamed of going to the studio as a kid when seeing it in the bumpers and ads. Unfortunately I never got to live out that dream. So after growing up in those times, growing alongside these shows, and seeing what's become of it actually hurts my very soul to its core
As a kid I had a great opportunity to visit there and watch a Kenan and Kel show filmed live. Was a highlight of my childhood and always remember it over anything else I did there as a kid.
I loved the old Nickelodeon game shows like Double Dare, Legends of the Hidden Temple, and Figure It Out. Those shows were a major must-watch for 10-12 year old me. It's a shame that the Florida Studios aged out, but they still remain an integral part of my childhood.
I...Kinda don't want to believe this place is long-gone. I have only been there once, with a friend/neighbor who I have since lost communication with decades ago, one of my fondest memories being a photograph I took with him in front of the slime-geyser in mid-eruption; That photograph is missing, too. This was the same day we went to the Mystery Fun House, across the street from the Universal entrance. It hurts to remind myself that Nickelodeon Studios is no more, it was a really colorful place. And for now, I'm going to pretend I'm Edward Scissorhands and remember only of what it once was, rather than what it is now. ~Vanishes back into the YT collective~
this was one of the first abandoned/urbex subjects i ever came across- when i was a kid i wrote a self insert fanfiction about being able to visit it with the invader zim cast before it closed, lol. your original video on it was also one of the earliest to get me into the defunct youtube rabbit hole. very sweet to see it all come full circle :) it's still one of my favorite topics- i really miss this era of animation production being so colorful and off-the-wall (and easier to get a job at too, haha)!
My goodness how much Jake grew from the original 2015 Nickelodeon video. Compared to the then stuttering, distracted, and rather profane language, to now an actual productive and properly informative series is insane.
Gerry Laybourne was the mind behind our favorite Nick memories as kids. She and her staff had a unique understanding of kids. I felt like I was a part of Nick. It felt alive. I miss that feeling.
I knew all along there was someone who was responsible for understanding what kids wanted on another level and served it up perfectly in the form of Nickelodeon. I miss that feeling too, nothing else like it.
It's cool to see an updated video on this abandoned property! It's kind of crazy to think that we're less than 19 years away from the time capsule being opened! WHO KNOWS what that day will look like?!
I remember going there in 2000 when they were filming a small segment of slime time live. It was really cool seeing the murals on the walls when you’re going up the escalator when you tour the studio.
I remember this was the first video that got me into the channel way back then. Your content has definitely come a long way since then and I'm so happy that you were able to make a more updated and in-depth video on this subject so near and dear to me. Well done, Jake!
I loved Nickelodeon studios, being a 90’s kid this hurts my heart. I feel an intense longing for the old Nickelodeon and the old studios. I was lucky enough to live in Florida in the 90’s and visited Orlando frequently. I hope one day they will alter their course.
Incredibly detailed video. Great job. Brought back so many memories since I'm a 90s kid. Kenan & Kel was my absolute favorite show! For business it's always about the money, I get that, but Universal Studios should have kept EVERYTHING about Nickelodeon Studios the way it was. Throughout the years they could have allowed people to tour the studios for a cost of course. Someone like myself would have traveled a long way there as an adult just to see the original artwork.
Thank you for this! Grew up in Central FL in the early 90s and it is still so odd to visit Universal without Nick Studios there. Dreamed of animating as a child bc of both Nick and MGM Edit- okay, that actually hurts to see the studio left how it was. I imagine people there at the time didn’t want to change it or move anything, either. Entire industry left this area 😢
I don't know how to accurately describe how I felt watching this. I guess I just miss being a kid, coming home from school and either playing with friends or watching the afternoon shows on Nick. Damn... how time flies.
I worked as an AV engineer at Universal Orlando from 2007 to 2009. I have been back through these buildings, extensively. Being a good employee, I took no photos or video. An absolute TOUR of my childhood from ~15 years prior. Can confirm the accuracy of this video. Great work!!!
@@BizarroStormy Well, what I was *AKCHEWALLY THINKING ABOUT* was not losing my job in the beginning of the global economic meltdown in 2008. lol. Sorry bout that. I'll try to do better.
@@TheDogGoesWoof69 More-so, actually. I mixed FOH for dozens of national acts, with concerts that had more than 15k in attendance (max cap for the plaza stage), right next to the park CEO and Universal VP. The park just didn't pay very much since I wasn't a union laborer. SO there were gigs that I was not permitted to work. Even when I had to "supervise" and still do everything for the Hollywood jackwagon who got flown out to do the job. As for very film-specific roles like focus-pullers, senior grips, DP's etc, yeah very few of those people lived in central FL. But I had positive experiences with those types when I was permitted to work with them (i.e. non-union productions).
Oh bro this is a huge nostalgia hit for me because I was on Slime Time Live in 2003 and have an oddly vivid memory of it. I went with my grandparents, my grandmother is no longer with us and she didn’t like roller coasters but Nick Studios was something we all went into together. I really treasure that memory and I had it reinforced by seeing the studio at the end of each show filmed there. Weird to feel nostalgic for a building
I, like many, grew up on Nickelodeon. Wild to see this, as it's sparking old memories, long forgotten. I never actually got to go, but...I always wanted to. I miss the 90's.
There was a huge Nickelodeon wave in the mid-90s here in the UK. My classmates were so jealous that I got to visit this place twice back then. Last year I got to revisit and spent some time trying to poke my head through various areas to get a glimpse of the place. It was the most nostalgic part of my trip. I wish they'd offered tours of the preserved areas for us "oldies" who held the place in such high regard. Great video as always.
I'm not sure it was that big, it really depended on if you had satellite TV or not. I didn't have it until the late 90's so I don't really have much nostalgia for Nickelodeon. In terms of messy game shows, we did have plenty of our own, including a Double Dare clone.
@@Croz89 I disagree! I never had cable. Keenan and Kel, Hey Arnold, Rugrats, Clarissa, Ren and Stimpy, etc were ALL on terrestrial TV. Even CBBC which didn’t show much stuff from the US. I always remember seeing the Nickelodeon logo on the end credits of the British version of Finders Keepers as well. The brand was HUGE. And indeed, I was jealous of anyone who had cable and could watch these shows all day.
@@guksack Some of the animated shows did get syndicated on terrestrial TV, yes. But I don't remember ever seeing anything live action, and certainly none of the game shows. Finders Keepers was licensed to a UK production company and the local version had no Nickelodeon branding, same with Double Dare, later Run the Risk. As for the animated stuff, It was good, but honestly I don't think they stood out from any of the other high quality imported animation from the US, from Disney, Hanna Barbera and others. I appreciate your experience may have been different, but I never remember any "craze" in the mid-90s for nickelodeon in particular. As I said, those who really got into it were the ones with satellite or cable, and that was a minority even in my relatively wealthy neighborhood until the late 90's.
@@Croz89 Clarissa and Keenan & Kel were. None of the game shows were unless they were our own remakes. But yes, Nickelodeon was huge for sure at the time
@@guksack I guess "huge" is a relative term here. Bigger than it is now, sure. But I don't think it ever came close to the fame it had in the US. There was a lot of local competition and access was more limited.

Ive seen you improve so much within the past 7 years, and I can only just say thank you. Thank you for making these videos, and keeping the memories, and histories of certain places alive. You have grown and improved so much from the older rendition of this video, and that really does show in this video. I can't wait to see the next video, and I really do want to congratulate you on your revisited version of these studios.
Gonna be honest, I didn't know I was interested in abandoned places until one of your videos popped up on RUclips. Now I've been binge watching all your Abandoned videos.
Thanks for this, pal. Born in 88, Nickelodeon and the era of this studio - which I never visited but would always see in idealistic commercials - was part of my childhood. You honored and preserved this little chunk of a ton of our collective memories. Thanks again.
This one hits home for me like many others. I got to visit Nickelodeon Studios while it was operating and it was pure magic to me. My family went to both Universal and Disney the same year and Nickelodeon was the most memorable for me. I remember going back in 2001 and it was all closed down (that I remember). I'm so glad I got to experience it and cherish those memories.
I’m the same I specifically remember this bc Clarissa explains it all was filming. Just the thought of meeting one of the Nickelodeon cast made it a memorable experience.

Same, I was there when I was 9 years old, massive Nick kid back in the day so my little mind was just blown, I couldn’t believe I was there!

The early-mid 90s was a great time to be a kid!
It was a golden age, before Dan Schneider turned out into the pedophile foot show.

The conversion of Nickelodeon's studio from bright, creative and artistic to painted-over bland was a painfully good analogy for the way the world went from pre-2001 optimism to literally having the color and joy in life sucked away into our dystopian present.

So true. Unfortunately Hollyweird doesn’t like normal, average, or typical so it doesn’t surprise me that any of this happened. It’s such a shame - seems like those shows featured more of the slice of life crowd and not the cash cow that hollyweird needs in order to thrive.

It is sad to walk through that courtyard and think that it was once filled daily by people excited to be there only for it now to be closed off to regular guests.
I had no idea this was abandoned! I went to Nickelodeon Studios in early 2000s.
There's a generation gap now, millennials are no longer the new hires and now are middle management. Gen Z didn't grow up with it so they don't remember.

I couldn’t imagine being one of the people who painted over the original interior. That would be soul crushing.
Disgraceful that they redid the interiors as well - they should have left it as part of their charm. But they have to “modernize” eveyy thing to a soulless dull concept per usual.

@@MrCobalt I get that but if you are repurposing the building to a production house (which is in the same realm as the buildings prior function), it is a unique/distinct feature of the building that adds to the charm current function. Same thing here along with the video of Disney’s River Country water park
Califorinia is Hollywood and Hollywood is California. Why they (hollywood and its people) are utterly culturally incompatible with 80% of America.

That’s really cool to hear! I hope you enjoy
.. 2015 is almost a decade ago.. oh my...
@@BrightSunFilms Thank you for all this amazing content…
I toured Nickelodeon Studios when I was 8 years old in 1998. I was so excited. We got to see the stage where they filmed Figure it Out which was absolutely my favorite show at the time. We also got to see a filming of Double Dare. So fun. I was there at the right age and right time for ultimate impact.
I recently told my nieces and nephews that I went to Nickelodeon Studios, and I had to explain to them what that even was.
Wow 🔥
I was 18 then and cried when my mom wouldn't take me
Watching this actually made me feel kinda depressed.
I feel like the only person that likes the less polished style of his videos. I truly miss the first 25 or so episodes, everything changed after that
Anyone else remember the chernobyl video where he couldnt pronounce Belarus so he had his computer do it for him
@@mattsceilingfansandmore2573 those were the good ole days lol
he has done better
Lmfao, profane? Ok snowflake
I miss that feeling too, nothing else like it.
that 2015 nick video is how i found your channel!! what a wonderful sequel, i’ve loved to see your quality improve over the years!
Thank you so much!
Lol I thought I was skipping a beat here. Dope to see you taking another look at this iconic place!
Watching this just made me miss it. I went there as a kid and remember some of this. Thanks for making this nostalgic video!
Man, ren and stimpy had such a formative effect on my sense of humor.
I remember this was the first video that got me into the channel way back then. Your content has definitely come a long way since then and I'm so happy that you were able to make a more updated and in-depth video on this subject so near and dear to me.
Well done, Jake!
Immensely appreciated!
I loved Nickelodeon studios, being a 90’s kid this hurts my heart. I feel an intense longing for the old Nickelodeon and the old studios. I was lucky enough to live in Florida in the 90’s and visited Orlando frequently. I hope one day they will alter their course.
As a 90’s kid it breaks my heart, but all good things…
...must come to an end
I miss the 90's. In terms of aesthetic and loving care when it came to production and design, the 90's seemed to be the peak of it.
Dreamed of animating as a child bc of both Nick and MGM
Edit- okay, that actually hurts to see the studio left how it was.
I know it's actually sad..also people you love slowly gone forever..miss being young.
Friday nights as a kid were THE BEST
I worked as an AV engineer at Universal Orlando from 2007 to 2009. I have been back through these buildings, extensively. Being a good employee, I took no photos or video. An absolute TOUR of my childhood from ~15 years prior. Can confirm the accuracy of this video. Great work!!!
That's all well and good but think about the potential trillions of people who wanted to see those pictures 😢
Kind of rude of Nickelodeon to close Nickelodeon Studios _right_ when I got old enough to compete
Excellent video! I loved the original and loved this one!! Keep up the great work!!!
There was a lot of local competition and access was more limited.
epic sequel, crazy to have been watching this channel for 10 years
I remember getting slimed in Universal Studios during a game show but I don't think our episode ever aired.
It was a really cool memory.
Nickelodeon Studios was such a huge part of my childhood. It's heart wrenching to see it painted over and forgotten.
I was thinking I have seen this before but bravo, no click bait, you actually brought me in by natural curiosity and not sensationalism.
Hi Jake. When I was 10 years old, I discovered your channel through your Rolling Acres Mall video, and this one as well. I have watched every single abandoned video you have done, and I am very excited and happy to see you remaster what may have been one of your most well known videos.
This is so crazy for me, you have no idea haha. Thank YOU so much for watching and sticking with me. It means so much.
@@BrightSunFilms You're welcome. Funnily enough as well, this was my first ever comment on your channel, despite being a watcher for so long.
You finally remade this! Great job!
I remember BSF making this episode all the way back.. jeez the nostalgia
You know you have been watching the channel for a while now when you were around when the original one was released.
Did u ever go to the Nickelodeon hotel
I’m the same I specifically remember this bc Clarissa explains it all was filming. Just the thought of meeting one of the Nickelodeon cast made it a memorable experience.
Amazing video love the detailed information on everything. Thank you for taking the time to cover this relic time. Very sad to see things from our past vanish into non existence 😢😔😞
Us that got to see it in the 90’s can speak of how cool it really was. Awesome trip down memory lane.
For sure. I went there with my family in 92 or 93. We saw them shooting Clarissa explains it all.
