Great video. In regards to the Theme Park Stop video, Alicia had that story put together really well and after all the incredible reporting she had done on Epic Universe well before it was ever announced and ever since then, there aren't many who have earned as much credibility as she has earned.

I think the issue previous developers had was they didn’t own any land and they kept choosing the wrong locations. This feels very different because they own the land and are assessing the infrastructure and what improvements will have to be made to facilitate the resort. Plus they are a serious entertainment company.

Theyd HAVE to do Harry Potter!!!!!! I cant see a british universal park without Harry Potter!

I hate to be the guy bringing up politics, but besides the reasons already brought up in the video, JK Rowling has just been a ticking timebomb of controversy and it keeps getting worse. Universal may want to go with the zero-risk option of Lord of The Rings considering the public's perception of that IP won't change any time soon, whereas further funding JK Rowling can realistically cause protestors to show up.

If they’re smart they’ll build their own station on the WCML for both Thameslink and Long Distance and call it something like Universal Resort. Very similar to what Disney has at Marne-Le-Vallee-Chessy. (If possible using that as a gate for one or both parks similar to Disney Village). Then rename Kempston Hardwick to Universal Resort West.

*MML. WCML is about 20 miles to the west and not served by thameslink.

The theme park at Swanscombe seems to be dead in the water, articles in the local paper suggest. Firms in the area are still waiting for news as to when anything will be decided. Also the main road through the area is currently closed due to a major landslide which the council is taking ages to decide how it would be rebuilt.

Why does the uk hate having large theme parks? They always manage to shut down the process. Conspiracy theory time: Merlin pays off local governments and councils to delay and prevent new theme parks for as long as possible before they inevitably get cancelled, and Merlin still have a monopoly. They own all major well known theme parks in the uk besides winter wonderlands.

or we don't really have the weather to support a theme to be open all year round.

I live in Florida, just an hour or so from Universal. I really, really hope this comes through for you guys. Also, getting to this park would be much easier for me than Beijing or Japan.
Lastly, as an American I would like and appreciate seeing, British IP based attractions. I don't know much about Paddington, but I am certainly a Bond fan! What other British IPs might an American be interested in?

Doctor Who would make for a great dark ride, but I’m not sure what’s going on with the theme park rights for that. It was rumoured that the London Resort had some BBC tie ins, and since that fell through the rights may have gone elsewhere

We moved to central Florida to be close to Disney. We have since dropped the brand completely. We now swap every year between Universal Orlando and SeaWorld/Busch Garden annual passes. I would LOVE to see this happen. Our friends across the pond deserve to have the same fun we're having. I will say though, we'll miss ya'll coming over to visit. Brits are some of my favorite tourists. ❤from Florida to GB

There's a plan to connect it to Levesden - if you follow the track down, you get to the Watford Harry Potter Experience. The connection's the Potter Express.

I’m a little concerned about the railway through kempston hardwick, as that line is not at all suitable for large volumes of passenger traffic. the stations and trains are both tiny and the line has no direct services to or from london. the infrastructure (ie signalling) would probably need to be completely overhauled in order to allow for higher capacity. Hopefully they build a station on the midland main line so there’s a direct connection to thameslink.

    • @PoweredByBeer
      @PoweredByBeer 5 месяцев назад +2

The station is part of the east west link from Oxford to Cambridge and has been earmarked for a major upgrade. This was happening before the Universal announcement. The Oxford to Bletchley part has been recently completed.
There has also been talk of a mainline station nearby for a long time. The universal project will likely push that forward to completion.

I predict universal Britain will have lord of the rings, Pattington bear themed children’s area, minion/ illumination park, and their own wizarding world of Harry Potter. Hogsmeade will be included but be the largest of its kind including an expanded forbidden forest area with a brand new attraction exclusive to universal Britain. Hogwarts will instead of ride be a fully fleshed out tour and dining experience with state of the art effects that have never been used. So imagine dining in the great hall while a fantastic dinner show takes place. I can also see performers walking around with magical creatures like in Japan. Even with the WB tour near by I still think they will have a potter area. It will have unique attractions to distinguish it from the USA parks.

I think they might actually leave it out. With a Harry Potter attraction already existing outside London and them not wanting to disrupt uk tourist from travelling to the US parks. I do think however that we could get something really unique from any of the other parks.

I would expect somewhere with better weather like Spain would make more sense. The UK has 3 hour days in winter and long days of drizzle the rest of the year. Not to mention the economy is in the shitter post-Brexit. How do you build on a large scale in the UK when it doesn’t make it’s own steel anymore and getting anything through the border requires endless paperwork and navigating massive queues of lorries? They have their freedom back from the EU, so I guess that was worth imposing trade sanctions on itself.
